PagesHome Tuesday, 14 January 2014 UNICEF #ChildrenOfSyria"As the crisis in the Syrian Arab Republic is well into its third year, and the daily headlines focus on military clashes and political efforts to resolve the crisis, the world must not forget the human realities at stake. The risk of losing a generation grows with every day that the situation deteriorates, while the progress made for Syrian children in previous years is undone. UNICEF and its partners are committed to keeping Syrian children from becoming a lost generation. Critical efforts are being made including in the life-saving areas of health, nutrition, immunization, water and sanitation, as well as in the future of children, through education and child protection." -UNICEF website.

As of 10th January 2014 news have been out and people are being made more aware of the fact the the Children of Syria are close to becoming the "lost generation". Many children in Syria are still uneducated there are many who have forgotten the purpose of pen. In the Syrian Arab Republic, nearly 2.3 million children have stopped attending school. In the region, more than 60 per cent of the 735,000 school-aged refugee children are not enrolled in school. Most Syrian refugee children have been out of school for one to two years, like Hanaa. But the barriers to these childrens education are many. The costs of transportation and tuition may be too great for families to bear. In Lebanon, some school subjects are taught in English and French, languages Syrian children may not speak. Hence there are many who don't want to attend school due to the language barriers involved.

"Last year, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in collaboration with humanitarian actors, enabled about 30,000 Syrian children to enroll in the public school system. Another 45,000 vulnerable children among them Syrians, Lebanese returnees and children from vulnerable Lebanese populations accessed non-formal education.

This school year, the Ministry will accommodate another 90,000 children into the public system, with support from the international community." - UNICEF website

On January 15th that is today. UNICEF is participating in the 2nd High Level International Humanitarian Pledging Conference for Syria in Kuwait City. Its been coordinated by UNICEF at the Bayan Palace, Kuwait City from 9:00am to 6:00pm
The main agenda is to rally international financial support to meet the basic humanitarian needs of millions of Syrians. It will be held on 15 January 2014 in Kuwait City and will be chaired by the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon and hosted by the Emir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah.

A high-level UNICEF delegation led by Deputy Executive Director Yoka Brandt will attend the conference.Among with other UNICEF delegates.
This is being done so to help the children in Syria to rise above the complications.
Since 2011, UNICEF has stepped up its response inside Syria and in the countries where Syrians have sought refuge. In 2013, UNICEF provided more than 10 million people with clean drinking water, vaccinated more than 5 million children against Measles, Mumps and Rubella, enrolled more than 570,000 children in schools and remedial classes and provided 870,000 children with psycho- social support. UNICEF and its partners are currently involved in the biggest polio campaign ever mounted in the Middle East, to vaccinate 23 million children against the disease.

UNICEF and partners launched the No Lost Generation initiative to increase the number of children enrolled in schools and other learning programmes, and to provide protection services for Syrian children affected by the crisis.
And to able to continue providing all this urgent assistance it needs funding and to meet the needs of the Syria crisis in 2014, UNICEF is seeking funds totaling $US 835 million.
So the conference that will be held today, will be done to ensure UNICEF is able to continue the mission to improve the condition of the Syrian Children.
UNICEF has been and will be thankful to the State of Kuwait for its generosity and kindness. Due to their generosity the condition of the Syrian Children are improving.

No comments: Wednesday, 12 June 2013 UNICEF and its ImpactsUNICEF has had a huge impact on people and their way of life. UNICEF had a huge impact on me as well. It was through UNICEF i came to know about the devastating conditions of the people. I know i was not able to go and physically help them and i do plan to go in and help them one day.People in Sahel are suffering and many people have come forward to help in. UNICEF is one organization that has proved that if it wants to do something it will get it done. Recently UNICEF came up with the IF campaign. The IF Campaign main aim was and is to end hunger."Enough Food for Everyone IF is a large coalition of charities calling for a fairer food system. UNICEF UK is a member, alongside organisations like Oxfam, Save the Children and ActionAid.The world has enough food for everyone, but not everyone has enough food to live.IF we join together, we could be the first generation to end global hunger."- UNICEF UK Website.
The IF Campaign:"We want our leaders to make these four big IFs happen:IF we give enough life-saving aid and find new ways to support poor countries to cope with climate change children will stop dying from hunger. The UK Government has committed to provide 0.7% of our national income on aid and promised new and additional money to help poor countries cope with climate change - it must keep both these promises.IF governments close tax loopholes to ensure companies pay their fair share of taxes in poor countries, millions of children will not have to go hungry.IF we stop farmers losing their land, we can make sure crops are used to feed families - not fuel cars. The poorest farmers are losing their land to big companies, who are increasingly growing crops for fuel rather than food, leaving families unable to feed their children.IF we ensure that governments and companies are honest about the things they do that stop children from having enough food.Together, we can make IF happen." - UNICEF UK Website
The IF Campaign rally took place last week at Hyde Park London. June 8th 2013 was the day when people came upto Hyde Park to show there support.45,000 people gathered on 8th June to show there support to the IF campaign.I really wanted to be there but unfortunately i was not able to. But i am glad that many people turned up and many people through Social network spread the word and through social media they were able to share their experiences to the people.

Also Help me spread the word for the children in Sahel:)No comments: Friday, 16 November 2012 Note on Sahel Seven It was 14th November 2012 Yesterday. Children's Day here in India. I wished that on this day at least someamountof help from my side could have been given out.
Sahel's Condition has been the same over the couple of months, we all are hoping that it does not worsens anymore.1 million children in Sahel are still suffering from malnutrition. They are lacking in healthcare facilities, clean water, and most importantly food. Unicef is working in Sahel to provide such basic needs to them. And we have to help them by helping them in any possible way. During this time i saw many people going into Sahel meeting people, locals giving their story out to the world so that people like us at home can see and hear them. They are trying their best there to reach out and we have to put ourselves out there too. Help In Join In to bring back the smiles in the faces of the people of West Africa.
"Believe in Zero" the movement is yet again another Unicef Mission/Movement now being highly promoted by Unicef USA.
"The number of under five child deaths has dropped more than 40 percent since 1990 a figure that demonstrates it is possible to radically reduce child mortality
As of Today, we can report that number is 19,000. That means 7,000 more young children are alive each day". -- Unicef USA Website
Many ways to help out!
Even if you cannot donate in you can always spread the word to others and to those who are willing to donate in to this cause.

No comments: Sunday, 9 September 2012 Note on Sahel SixOne country One million children One organization One world.
We are human beings and its our responsibility to see how our fellow human beings areliving in..I am being following Sahel related stories for the past 5 months.. In this 5 months my prayers are always been with Sahel.Rio20+ was one as per me was fruitful many people came to know about Sahel and not only that people came forward to help in. Majority might not have been reached by it but what reached, reached enough but is it enough for the people in Sahel. Many children still are awaiting for food water basic needs and they are allwaitingfor us to fulfill it we are their only hope. I know many of us cannot physically be in Sahel but we can we can just need to spread the word. Due to modern technology we can do things that were not possible even 10 years back.. Today i am in India but i know what is happening in Sahel and i request all of you to please Support the Organization to help the children there..

People of Sahel, more over the children in Sahel need our help.
Things we can do if help pray and support in..
Donate as much as you can
Spread the word
And Support theOrganization.
Recentlyagain "Zero" is getting popular it is the same Movement that was started few moths back as i have mentioned in previous blogs. I hope everyone is Supporting the Movement. UNICEF USA is now promoting the movement..

No comments: Sunday, 24 June 2012 Note On Sahel Five + Rio+20
Sahel was a place that i think no one knew even existed till the tragic crisis struck the country with malnutrition of adults and children as well. It shook the country pretty well. People went on days without food without proper care. But UNICEF has helped Sahel regain some of the state but still there are many children or even adults that are still suffering according to UNICEF about 1 million children are going to through this unfortunate event! And it is through UNICEF i came to know about the Sahel Crisis. And Its Campaigns help many other to know about it as well. UNICEF started #SahelNow campaign on twitter to spread the word of Sahel.. As Kony Started out to be a successful campaign SahelNow was also launched. And it is successful and still running and many people are now aware of the fact that, there is place named Sahel and it has been effected with this tragic crisis. My friends even had no idea about Sahel. They came to know about it from my blogs and posts, which makes me encouraged to see that at least someone is reading it out there. One of my friends are gonna be writing her own blog on Sahel soon. She has already started and will be publishing her own blog page soon.

So as far i have seen many people are coming to know about Sahel through twitter , facebook , blogs etc.
This is also a way we all canvolunteerin to help the cause. Its notnecessaryto be present in Sahel to help out. Many of us cant...
Thing we can do that is spreading the word to others who can help in.
Through such interactive blogs many people are sending in funds and many people are actually getting an interest to actually know about the crisis and through which many questions are being asked.
Many People are sending in donations many are volunteering to go and physically help Sahel's people.
Its Not Only UNICEF many NGOs are trying there best to get the best out of the people. Many UNICEF Countries took out many campaigns. As Mentioned before UNICEF UK's Speak Up for Children was also led into twitter to spread the word many people wrote in many joined in.
UNICEF South Africa's I Believe in Zero many people shared their thought and used the Facebook app to submit theirperspective.. And Many people wrote in so many wonderful and kind words...
And Among them was Julie Cavanagh who wrote:

"I was normal kid, no different from your child, nephew , niece, or the child next door. I was happy with not acarein the world. I greeted the world with a smile on my face... I was Free. But then one day EVERYTHING changed. I found myself in a world where my innocence was for sale i became a commodity to be sold over over over again. My spirit was shattered I am now a shadow of the child I once was. I beg you! Speak up ! and protect others from my fate! Your Voice can save lives!"
It got the Maximum votes and to be honest i very honestly agree...
Every Child deserves a chance to be happy healthy and educated...
The big question came in as what Future do we want!!

How are the people and the children managing in Sahel.??
That is not only a question but also a concern.
I saw the live telecast of World FoodPrograms's telecast on the food crisis in Sahel.
Many experts came in todiscussionto this topic.
Even Many People asked various questions and many answers were given.
Thisdiscussionwas held by the World Food Program through Google+ Hangout and was viewed by many people byYouTube.

According to many people, many people are digitally involved in helping with the crisis. Many people arewritingblog makingvideosetc which is also a way by which many can help in.
Many around the world are now getting the information about Sahel due to efforts of many digitalvolunteers around the globe.
Many people from different parts of the world are coming together to help the people in Sahel. Many people were there who had no idea what or where Sahel is or many be what was the crisis was but do to many people joining hands in this UNICEF's Movement #SahelNow and also many people helping to spread the word and also the launch of its website has given many people a clearer view to what is happening in Sahel.
Not only UNICEF but othercharitiesother NGOs are all in it to help the people! Many people have alreadyvolunteeredand geared up to help..
It may not be possible for many of you to go there and physically help but you can help in other ways there are numerous ways you can support and help in.
Many movements were launched after this Sahel Crisis as it has risen the bar of risk of the people and the children.
Its now not only because of the nutritional crisis but through this we come to know many other problems were also taken in note.
UNICEF UK launched a Movement that was to Speak Up For the Children in The World as per my opinion i think it was launched as The Sahel Crisis made us see what can happen to the children who are the future of this world.
Through this movement a petition was made to be signed by as many as possible to Ask Nick Clegg to Stand up for the children in the Rio Submit in June..
You can sign the petition and spread the word and also ask everyone to take thispetition and make Nick Clegg stand up for the children! Putting a #speakup and a tweet to @Nick_Clegg will also help. By this you are also helping in to spread the word!
UNICEF South Africa had also launched a movement Know as the "I Believe in Zero" In this movement we come to know that there are many children who are not treated well they are badly handled not taken proper care not given proper education e.t.c...
Through this movement we come to see that in oneway where we are trying hard to save the children there are many who are just not taking it seriously and is not properly taking care of a child as he/she should. You can also write in your thoughts on this and share By June4th...
All the children in this word are like brothers and sisters to all of us so as a family we should provide them what they actually deserve.
Not only the UNICEF as i have mentioned many many NGOs are trying their best to help these kids..
So as Humans its also our responsibility show some respect to that word and show some Humanity.
The People in Sahel Always keep us in their prayers as they know because some of your help they are getting this major help by theOrganization. They may not know us we may not know them but we should always pray for their better well being.....
For all those in Twitter Facebook Google+ or in any social network spread the word of #SahelNow as by now you know people need to know in order to help... So Keep Tweeting,Facebooking and also dont forget to share on Google+

You Have To Help me do my part by just spreading the word....

No comments: Sunday, 6 May 2012 Note On Sahel Three
I just wanted to say people are still facing huge problem.
As humans we have to able to show respect to it by showing some great deed of humanity.
As i said if also your not physically present there you can do many things too be involved...
Many Unicef countries have taken out new Movements.. As per my last two posts i have mentioned.. Unicef UK launched On Twitter #speakup For Children and asked everyone to speak up for the children. This is apetition that I have Proudly signed It is asking us to speak up for the children and ask Nick Clegg to speak up for the children in the Rio Submit in June....
The only thing you have to do is tweet to him @nick_clegg as him to speak up for the Children....
Well you may think how is this related to Sahel well it is... Every thing in this is related.... If we speak up for the children then only we are gonna justify the children.
If we Speak For The Children discuss their problem make the governments of the worldrealize that the children are our future and they are in danger and they need help!!!
If we speak up and if we Tell Nick Clegg to speak up then what happens is indirectly we are spreading the awareness that children all over the world are being affected for some reason or other! How are we going to stop it? how are we going to help the organizations to make a end to this? And if you ask how this is related to Sahel.... Well it is if we speak up for them we are also taking the measure to make sure we are not allowing the crisis which hit Sahel will hit any other country or Sahel ever again if only we start to take precautions about this we are the people we are the ones who can Stop It So Why Not!
Unicef South Africa also started the movement "I Believe in Zero"
Well it is also connected everything is connected the only link between them is all we want is a happy future for the children of the world and if we can do so then why not if we are able to give them the what they deserve then why not!
Every teens pop idol Selena Gomez also supports UNICEF and what is happening is Sahel not good she is also telling her fans to join in with her to help and there are many who are! So Thank You and if u are not helping there is still time Help the Children in Sahel..
The Children in Sahel Dont know us but keep us in their prayers just because some of you out there have helped them. You have helped to put a smile on their faces.
"Just remember One day you'll be the Hero of Millions of Children out there"
All i want is a big and happy and a satisfied smile on the children's faces in Sahel.
