At long last, we have updated our website, with the posting of 1,389 new UFO sighting report, submitted to our offices since November 5th, 2020, the date of our last posting.  We apologize for the long delay in updating the site, and we will make every effort to post new reports as quickly as we can, in future months.  In addition, we hope to be able to include in those updates many more photos and illustrations than we have posted in recent months.  We address below a few things that witnesses, and visitors to our website and UFO Hotline can do, that will aid us in getting the reports posted in a more timely manner than we have been able to do, recently. 1. PLEASE PROOF-READ YOUR WRITTEN REPORTS BEFORE SUBMITTING THEM—Without a doubt,  the most time-consuming task we have to perform, before we are able to update the site, is the proof-reading of each new report, and the editing of many of them.  We know from now  considerable experience on the matter, that every report has to be at least scanned by as proof-reader, before it is posted, and fully one-third to one-half of them require extensive correction and editing.  When we receive a “slug” of reports, as has been the case, on several occasions over recent months, they represent a considerable  time “sink” of work in order to correct dates, and other details in the report; remove names, addresses, an other personal data that people include in the “Description” box their reports, despite clear instructions that they not do so; delete duplicate reports; and perform many other functions, including the removal of profanity, and other objectionable text.  All of those functions take considerable time, and they could be eliminated if people would “spell check” and self-edit their reports before submitting them. 2. PLEASE BE BRIEF IN YOUR E-MESSAGES—We are being “smothered” with e-mail, all of which takes considerable time to respond to.  If you wish to correspond with our headquarters, please keep your e-messages brief, and to the point!  A short message will receive a more prompt response than a long one will!  3. PRANK CALLS TO OUR HOTLINE—We continue to receive a substantial number of “prank” calls during every day of operation, and we request, once again, that people not use our UFO telephone Hotline for their childish amusement.  All these foolish calls…usually dozens per day… represent a terrible waste of our time.  If you are a parent or grandparent who supervises children who own cell phones, we encourage you to become engaged with their use of those telephones, to ensure yourself that they are not being misused! HIGHLIGHTED REPORTS We plan to update our website again soon, in order principally to post some of the better photographs and illustrations our Center has received over recent months.  However, in order to whet people’s appetites, we include below a few highlights off the items we have received recently: · North Carolina (in-flight), Friday, November 13, 2020 @ 21:00 hrs. (Eastern Time Zone)—The Pilot and 1st Officer of a flight from Charlotte, NC, to Harrisburg, PA, witness an intensely brightly lighted object descend out of the night sky in front of their aircraft, stop instantly, execute a ~90-degree turn, and go streaking off in the night.  Witness Report · Los Angeles, California, Wednesday, January 15, 2020 @ 02:00 hrs. (Pacific)—An adult male, who elects to remain anonymous, asserts that he witnessed a complex looking sphere with wing-like extensions in the kitchen of his home.  The instant his wife entered the room, the object shot off out of the house.  ((NOTE:  We have not spoken with, or interviewed, the witness.  Witness apparently did not capture a photo of the object, but he did supply the rendering to the right..  PD))   Witness Report We will update the website again soon, probably between Christmas and New Years. Posted on the evening of Wednesday, December 23rd, 2020. We apologize to all those folks who visit our website on a regular basis for our not having updated the site since September 04th, 2020.  There are many reasons for the delay, which we will not go into here, but we will make every attempt to get back to our traditional schedule of updating the site at least one time per week. We update the site as of this date with the posting of 561 relatively  recent sighting reports, submitted to our Center from between September 04th and October 06th.  We have another 700 reports that were received after October 6th, which we are in the process of proof-reading.  We hope to have them posted within the next several days.  In the mean time, we hope that visitors to our site will enjoy reading the newly posted reports. The NUFORC website has been updated, as of the current date, with the posting of approximately 178 new and updated reports.  Given that this new “crop” of reports has been read in a very cursory manner, this week, we encourage visitors to our website to exercise caution as to what they accept as being true and accurate data.  If you find errors in the database, please send a note to director@ufocenter.com , with a description of the suspected error, and we will follow up on the issue at our earliest convenience. RADIO APPEARANCES Peter Davenport is scheduled to make his traditional appearance on the radio program, Coast to Coast AM, hosted by Mr. George Noory, today, Friday, September 04th, 2020, beginning at approximately 10:10 p.m. (Pacific).  Peter will discuss a few of the reports that are posted to our database. Hall, aka “The Paranormal Attorney,” on Sunday night, September 06th, 2020, beginning at approximately 9:05 p.m. (Pacific).  Peter will discuss a number of recent cases, and other topics, as well. Posted Thursday afternoon, August 27th, 2020.  We have updated both our homepage, as well as the database of eyewitness sighting reports, as of this date.  We have posted 441 new written reports, submitted to our Center via our Online Report Form since the afternoon of August 6th, together with 35 older reports which have been revised over the past two weeks.  For this update, we have strived to proof-read all the reports more carefully than we believe we have performed that process for the past several updates.  However, there is always the possibility that we have overlooked a defective or misleading report, so, as we always do, we caution visitors to our site to be careful in what they accept at face value. We highlight below two eyewitness reports that have captured our attention, for one of which we have received what we believe to be high-quality video: · Lakeview, Ohio, Saturday, July 18, 2020, @ 11:15 p.m. (Eastern):  A husband and wife, booth experienced sky watchers, were outdoors, in order to view, and photograph, the “Neowise” comet, when the husband observed a very bright light moving across the nighttime sky, and approaching their location from the west.  He  manages to capture some very high-quality, and dramatic, footage of the peculiar object. Witness Report  Video Footage · Burnet, Texas, Saturday, August 15, 2020, @ 00:45 a.m. (Central):  Two adult males, both experienced amateur astronomers, observe, and photograph through their telescopes, a strange looking object, exhibiting four very bright, white, strobing lights radiating from its ventral surface (see picture at right).  The object remains visible, and motionless for 3-4 hours.  Witness Report 1   Witness Report 2 · Conway, South Carolina, Wednesday, August 18, 2020, @ 00:30 a.m. (Eastern):  A retired senior law enforcement official, while out sky-watching, observes a tiny, white colored, strobing light fly overhead from NNE to SSW. The object is joined by a second similar object, and then two more, for a total of four objects.  Because of the strobing, and because of the direction the objects were traveling, the witness doubted whether they could have been ”Starlink” satellites.  Witness Report We hope to be able to post several more good illustrations in the near future, but to do so is going to require a bit more time than we have available today for sorting through a large number of items, in order to select good, and convincing bits of evidence.. NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED ON FRIDAY, JULY 3RD, 2020 We update the NUFORC website as of this date with the posting of approximately 132 recently reported UFO sighting reports, together with 17 newly revised reports that we have amended, for one reason, or another.  We are under time pressure to get the revised database of sightings to our webmaster, so we will limit the length of this statement, in order to get it forwarded to our webmaster on time.  For the past several months, we have had to focus on processing written report, to the exclusion of posting some very nice illustrations, photos, and video.  Now that we are pretty well caught up with the recent flood of reports, we will, in the near future, begin to focus on posting some of the more interesting examples of visual evidence associated with the sightings that have been shared with our offices in the recent past. Posted on Friday afternoon, July 3rd, 2020.  WEBSITE UPDATED ON JUNE 25, 2020 Our website is finally updated with the posting today of 1,867 reports, some of which were submitted to our Center as far back as March of this year. In our haste to update the website, we have done what we believe is a “slapdash” job of proof-reading many of the reports, and in particular, those reports that were submitted to our Center from mid-May, to the present date.  Typically, we like to read every word of each report, before posting them, but the unusually large number of reports submitted has not allowed us to do that for this posting.  Hence,  we fear that there are certainly a number of reports in today’s update that are flawed in one, or more, ways, e.g. with regard to date or location of the sighting, presence of personal data for the source of the report, and with regard to profanity, or other potentially disturbing comments to visitors to our site.  If, as you read through the reports, you encounter a report which you believe is flawed, please call it to our attention by e-mailing it director@ufocenter.com , and we will attempt to correct any errors before our next update, which should occur sometime during the upcoming week. To those individuals who visit our website frequently, expecting to see the latest sighting reports, we apologize for our delay in updating the site.  From March to mid-June of this year, we received an unusually large number of reports, which has slowed down the proof-reading and editing process to a significant degree.  We have been tempted to simply post the reports in “raw” form, forgoing the editing process, altogether.  However,  we have observed that so many people who submit reports totally  ignore the guidelines laid out on the Online Report Form, regarding, for example, maintaining anonymity, refraining from use of profanity, and adhering to the proper format, that at least a minimum of proof-reading is necessary, in order to make the reports at all useful, and to guarantee that the posted reports are not offensive to anyone visiting the site. Over the past several weeks, we have proof-read almost 1,000 reports, and we have approximately 900 reports that remain to be processed.  We anticipate that the remaining reports should be completed within the next 1-2 days, at which time, the site will be updated with all the accumulated reports. FEATURED REPORT One of the aspects of ufology that piques our interest, and which we believe says a great deal about the UFO phenomenon, are reports from not just recent decades, but rather from past centuries, and even distant millennia.  A gentleman, who writes from the East Coast of the United States, recently shared with our Center an intriguing excerpt, taken from the notes of Gov. John Winthrop, published in “The History of the Massachusetts Bay Colony,” of what today appears to be a possible UFO sighting in by a resident of the town of Brookline, Suffolk County, Colony of Massachusetts.  The gentleman wrote:  “In the records of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, Governor John Winthrop reports the sighting in the year 1639 in the History of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, p. 294.” ‘In this year one James Everell, a sober, discreet man, and two others, saw a great light in the night at Muddy River. When it stood still, it flamed up, and was about three yards square; when it ran, it was contracted into the figure of a swine: it ran as swift as an arrow towards Charlton, and so up and down about two or three hours. They were come down in their lighter about a mile, and, when it was over, they found themselves carried quite back against the tide to the place they came from. Divers other credible persons saw the same light, after, about the same place.’ This alleged sighting, in our opinion here at NUFORC, is strongly suggestive of a sighting of what we today call a “UFO,” and appears similar to so many others that are posted to our website, in terms of both appearance, and strange behavior of the peculiar object of interest.  We felt that visitors to this site would enjoy knowing about this incident from 381 years ago!    RADIO APPEARANCES Peter is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on the Coast to Coast radio program, hosted by George Noory, on Thursday night, June 18, 2020, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific).  Peter will discuss several of the more dramatic, and well documented, UFO sighting reports that have been submitted to NUFORC over the past week or two.  Details about other guests scheduled to appear can be obtained at www.coasttocoastam.com. We have performed a partial update of the NUFORC website, as of this date, with the posting of approximately 200 relatively recently received UFO sighting reports.  The majority of the newly posted reports were those received in March and April of this year, together with a few reports that have been received over the past couple of days, which we succeeded in squeezing into the database at the last minute.  We still have approximately 1,800 reports in the database that have yet to be proof-read, but we are working on a full time basis to get them completed, and hope to be able to get them posted, as well, by early next week.  The principal cause of the current backlog is the “crush” of reports we have received of both the planet Venus, that has been very prominent in the western and northwestern sky recently, and overflights of the Space X “Starlink” satellites.  We would be most grateful if those people who use our Online Report Form would please be certain of what they are reporting, so as not to submit reports of either Venus, or of those clusters of satellites, which can number up to 100 star-like objects.  The clusters generally seen coursing either the morning, or evening, sky in a more less straight line, and a single cluster can often be visible to witnesses on the ground for 15-20 minutes.  Finally, on this point of reports, we are considering changing our traditional, and liberal, policy of accepting reports in almost any form, and requiring that reports that are sent to our Center first be proof-read and edited for errors before we will accept them.  The volume of reports has become so dauntingly large, that we no longer have sufficient time to proof-read and edit reports, as they arrive.  People often comment that they are not skilled writers, but their computers…that have built-in spell checkers…are!!  We feel we are spending way too much time correcting those errors that others could do, before the reports are sent from their computers.  RADIO APPEARANCES Peter Davenport is scheduled to appear on Coast to Coast AM radio, hosted by George Noory tonight, Friday, May 20, 2020, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific).  Peter will be discussing several recent cases.  Web address is www.coasttocoastam.com. HIGHLIGHTED REPORT Colbert (Spokane), Washington State, Monday, May 04th, 2020, @ 2:00 p.m. (Pacific)—A husband and wife witness a very small, unidentified, object, as it trails closely behind a commercial airliner taking off from Spokane International Airport.  The object appeared to be within one fuselage-length of the aircraft, and just below its altitude.  Both objects appeared to fly through cloud briefly, and then reappear a second time.  Witness Report Posted on Sunday, May 10th, 2020.  PARTIAL UPDATE OF WEBSITE AS OF THIS DATE We have updated the website, and partially updated the database of sighting reports, as of this date, with the posting of approximately 325 either new, or recently revised, eyewitness accounts of alleged UFO sightings.  The revised database contains a partial collection of reports that were submitted to our Center up to the evening of Thursday, April 23rd, 2020, so please do not be alarmed if you have submitted a report to our Center either before, or after, that date, but your report does not yet appear on the website.  Your report is, no doubt, among the remaining approximately 1,400 reports that have yet to be proof-read, and flagged, in preparation for posting to the NUFORC website.  Peter Davenport, Center Director, is engaged with proof-reading those accumulated reports as rapidly as he can, and they may be ready for posting as soon as the upcoming weekend. Also, on the subject of missing reports, if you have submitted a written report to our Center in the distant past, and have noticed that it is missing from the  database of cases on our website, please do not be alarmed!!  Recent computer problems have caused us to have to lay aside some reports from the database temporarily.  However, they will be restored to the database, once we’ve corrected a few software problems. One of the principal reasons for the delay in our updating the website is the high volume of reports of overflights of the “Starlink” satellites.  We would like to invite visitors to our website to please watch the video, a link to which appears below, in order that they are made aware of the existence of these satellites, and what they look like when they pass overhead in orbit outside the Earth’s atmosphere.  They are very dramatic, and novel, in appearance, and they are causing up to approximately a thousand reports per month to be submitted to our Center.  The processing of all of these extraneous reports is absorbing a great deal of our time, and they have nothing to do with the UFO phenomenon, which is our focus.  Hence, we request that people not only refrain from either telephoning our Hotline, or submitting written reports, about sightings of the satellites.  Also, we would like to request that people inform family members and friends of the satellites’ existence, and what they look like.  Here is a high-quality video available on YouTube of an overflight of one of the four or five groups of “Starlink” satellites that now orbit our planet on a routine basis:     RADIO APPEARANCES Peter often makes appearances on Spaced Out Radio, whose traditional Sunday night host is Michael W. Hall, who bills himself as the “Paranormal Attorney.” Peter usually makes a half-hour long appearance, beginning at approximately 9:05 p.m. (Pacific), during which he discusses recent reports, and other topics of interest in the field of ufology.  Details of the program are available at www.spacedoutradio.com We will post again in the very near future…as soon as the 1,400 new reports can be prepared for posting. We apologize to those people who visit our website frequently for the long delay in updating.  Suffice it to say that our “system” is being over-taxed, and we can no longer keep up with the torrent of reports, e-mail, conference presentations, radio interviews, inquiries by the press, telephone calls…including, tragically, an unstinting  torrent of prank telephone calls, which take a significant amount of time to process.  In any event, as of this date, we have performed a partial update of the database of sighting reports with the posting of almost 600 new reports.  We have a remaining 698 reports that must first be proof-read, and we should have those posted to the site within 1-2 days.  If you have submitted a report to our Center recently, and do not see it posted, please do not be alarmed by its absence from the database…it will be posted at the next update.   A few comments… SIGHTINGS OF VENUS:  Our Center is receiving way, way too many reports of sightings of Venus, and they are taking a great deal of wasted time to process.  We would like to invite all the visitors to our website who are not familiar with that planet to go outside tonight, or in the near future, and look to the west.  The very bright, intensely silver-white, object seen in the western sky is Venus, and not an alien spacecraft!  Venus will continue to be visible in the western sky until sometime in June 2020, after which it will then begin to be visible in the early morning sky.  NUFORC is receiving hundreds of reports per month of Venus, and we are attempting to avoid wasting time on such reports. “STARLINK” SATELLITES:  If you witness a long string of objects, the size of stars or satellites, in the night sky, please note that you probably are observing one of the four or five clusters of “micro” satellites that have been launched recently by the Space X Corporation.  These micro satellites position themselves approximately equidistant from one another, and generally appear to follow one another across the sky, flying in a “nose-to-tail” formation.  Those satellites, like Venus, are not alien spacecraft, and we would prefer that people not report them to our Center.  We are taking hundreds of reports per month about those satellites, and the processing of those reports is taking a great deal of time, that is being wasted. HIGHLIGHTED CASE:  Among those preliminary reports we have posted with today’s update is the following— Daytona Beach, Florida, Monday, April 06, 2020, @ 10:00 p.m. (EDT)—An adult male, who describes himself as a highly trained former member of the U. S. Coast Guard, reports having witnessed nine small, white lights, arranged in a “V” formation fly directly above his house, coursing from the southern sky to the northeast.  The witness reports that the lights appeared to be independent of one another, and not attached to a single object.  The sighting lasted approximately 5 seconds. Witness Report Posted Saturday evening, April 11th, 2020. Our website is updated, as of today’s date, with the posting of approximately 300 new sighting reports, received since the afternoon of Thursday, February 13th, 2020.  We have proof-read the reports to the greatest degree that a very busy schedule will allow, but, no doubt, there are quite a number of errors in the newly posted reports, so visitors to our site should be on the alert for errors in the reports, as well as for the possibility of prank reports.  We have been able to label and “flag” only a few of the reports that have been submitted by people who wish to remain anonymous, a decision which always raises the specter that the report might be a hoax. Our next posting will be on, or about March 07th, depending on our webmaster’s travel schedule. ITEMS TO AVOID REPORTING TO OUR CENTER Over the past several months, possibly the majority of reports that have been submitted to our Center via the Online Report Form have been about the long “train” of so-called “Starlink” micro satellites, several clusters of which have been launched, beginning in May of 2019.  If you are witness to a long string of what appear to be stars, equidistant from one another, and following each other “nose to tail,” we would be most grateful if you would please not report them as a UFO sighting.  We have received many hundreds of reports of those satellites, and all of those reports have taken a great deal of time to process. Also, please note that the very bright planet called “Venus” is currently in the southwestern and western sky during the early and mid-part of the evening sky, and its presence there is inducing a great many people into reporting it as a UFO, which it is not.  That planet will continue to be visible in the western sky during the evening hours until June of this year.  Finally, please take note of the fact that the star, “Sirius,” the brightest star visible from the planet Earth is first visible in the southeastern sky during the early evening, and moves to the right, as the Earth rotates to the east.  Sirius can be located just to the left of, and below, the easily recognized constellation of stars call “Orion,” and it is very chromatic, giving off all colors in a rainbow.  Thank you for not reporting Sirius as a UFO! NUFORC DATABASE OF SIGHTING REPORTS UPDATED We have updated our website database of sighting reports, as of this date, with the posting of 121 new entries.  Please be alert to the many cases that address a long string of “satellite-like” objects, as we suspect that virtually all of the cases that include such a description are sightings of the Space X “Starlink” micro-satellites that were launched from Cape Canaveral on November 11, 2019.  Highlighted case: Washington, D.C., Tuesday, February 04th, 2020, @ 11:00 p.m. (EST)—Shortly after the conclusion of President Trump’s State of the Union Address before Congress, people in the Arlington, Virginia, area began hearing the unmistakable sound of jet fighters coursing over the greater Washington, D.C., area, apparently at relatively low altitude, and using their afterburners.  One of the many witnesses to the loud sound witnessed two objects overhead that were performing very dramatic maneuvers. Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport is scheduled to appear on the Coast to Coast radio program, hosted by Mr. George Noory, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific) on Thursday, February 13, 2020.  Peter will discuss the case that is highlighted above, as well as several others that have been submitted since February 07th, 2020. Our website is updated, as of this date, with the most recently submitted eyewitness reports!  We apologize for the month-long delay, and we hope that we are now back in the our tradition of updating both the homepage, as well as the database of sighting reports, on at least a weekly basis.  The balky computer that was giving us such trouble last year has been replaced, and the new replacement seems to be serving our needs quite admirably. Today’s update includes 736 new sighting reports, some of which were submitted as far back as late December 2019, and only perhaps half of which have been adequately proof-read and edited.  In our haste to get all those reports posted to our website today, in time for two radio interviews, we hurried through the proof-reading process.  Consequently, we encourage visitors to our site to be on the alert for errors of all types.  We have attempted, in a few cases, to label those reports submitted by individuals who have elected to remain totally anonymous, which often seem to us to be somewhat suspect.  However we have not been able to label every such report, so be on the alert for suspicious reports! Also, we have attempted to indicate all those reports that appear to address sightings of the long string of “Starlink” satellites that were launched on Monday, November 11th, 2019.  However, we suspect that we have not been successful in “ferreting out” all of them, so any report that appears to address a large number of star-like objects, oriented in a “nose-to-tail” formation, could well be addressing that group of satellites.  Comparing any suspect reports with those that we have labelled as addressing an overflight of satellites should allow the reader to distinguish reports of satellites from those that appear to address sightings of suspected UFOs.    In addition, given the number of prank calls that are routinely placed to our telephone Hotline, we suspect that there is a significant number of written reports that may have been submitted by the same pranksters, so be on the alert for reports that seem to exhibit  suspect information. Once we’ve recovered from the “Herculean,” weeklong session of proof-reading we’ve just completed, we will post again soon, to include a few photos and illustrations. Our principal objective in posting this partial update is  to demonstrate to those individuals who routinely visit our website that we are still in business!!  It is not a complete update, but it will nevertheless provide visitors to our website with approximately 350 reports that have been submitted to our Center, over the past month.  Some of the reports posted on this date are older reports that have been updated and amended.  In addition to those reports that we’ve posted here tonight, we have on file an additional 680 newly received reports, received over the past month, that will be proof-read and edited as quickly as possible…probably within the next day or two…and posted soon thereafter.  In that second update, we will highlight some of the more interesting reports we have received over recent weeks.  In addition, we will post, together with those written reports, some of the better photos and videos that have been submitted to our Center. RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, Director of NUFORC, is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on the Coast to Coast AM radio program, hosted by Mr. George Noory, on Friday night, January 31st, 2020, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific).  Peter will discuss some of the more interesting reports that have been submitted recently to the UFO Center.  Posted Friday evening, January 31st, 2020.  SATELLITES VISIBLE IN THE NIGHT SKY We have received so many reports…probably in excess of 1,000 by now…from people both on the ground, as well as in flight, of a long string of small luminous objects which stretches across the night sky, we share this statement, with hope of slowing the flood of reports to our Center about the display.  On the morning of November 11th, 2019, a large pod was launched by the Space-X Corporation from Cape Canaveral in Florida.  The pod reportedly contained in excess of 60 much smaller “micro” satellites, which are slowly being released from the main “bus.”  In addition, the “micro” satellites reportedly have a highly polished, highly reflective, outer surface, which makes them appear quite bright in the nighttime sky because of the sunlight they reflect with high efficiency.  Consequently, the cluster of satellites appears to be a long “chain” of luminous dots moving slowly, and generally to the east, across the night sky .  The display is a very dramatic in appearance, and to some witnesses, alarming, but they are just satellites of terrestrial origin, orbiting around our planet.  They are not alien spacecraft.  Hence, we would be grateful if people would please refrain from calling our UFO Hotline to report the cluster, and from submitting written reports about them.  Each report takes a considerable amount of our time to process, which detracts from other pressing responsibilities we have in our attempt to get accurate, reliable data to the public about the UFO phenomenon.  Thank you! Our homepage and database of sighting reports have been updated, as of the current date, December 01st, 2019.  We are contrite over the long delay in updating the site, a delay which was caused by a number of factors, several of which were largely out of our control.  We apologize to those individuals who visit our site on a regular basis for the delay. “STARLINK” SATELLITES Even just a casual survey of the newly posted reports will alert a visitor to the many reports of a dramatic display of satellites that have been reported to NUFORC from around the world.  The Space-X Corporation launched a capsule from Cape Canaveral on the morning of Monday, November 11, 2019, which contained at least 60 much smaller “micro” satellites, intended to be released from the capsule, and then positioned in their respective orbits around Earth.  Dramatic and peculiar in appearance though the cluster of satellites is, and despite what many people initially suspected, the objects are of terrestrial origin.  For the time being, we have included in our database of sightings the several hundreds of reports we received about the cluster, principally to illustrate how easy it is to cause human observers to be deceived by a new, and eye-catching, visual phenomenon.  We include a photo below, graciously provided by “DV,” of El Pescadero, CA, which is exemplary of the dramatic appearance of the clustered satellites, as they are being released from their capsule.  We will update our website again within the next several days, and will highlight some of the more interesting reports that have been submitted to NUFORC over recent weeks. The NUFORC website has been updated, as of this date, with the posting of 454 new sighting reports, received at our Center since Thursday, September 19th, 2019.  Because of this unusually large number of reports over the past two weeks, and because of our haste to get them posted to our site this week, we have had to forgo a careful editing of the reports.  Consequently, there are many reports among those we have posted today that have only been visually “scanned” for profanity and personal information, and have not undergone a careful proof-reading and editing.  Hence, whereas we always caution visitors to our website to be on the alert for flawed reports, and reports which may be out-and-out hoaxes.  We expect to proof-read the reports again, and more carefully, during the upcoming weekend, and expect to post them again in “cleaner” form.   HIGHLIGHTED REPORTS Gallipolis, Ohio, Saturday, September 21st, 2019, @ 11:13 p.m. (Eastern)—A husband (former law enforcement) and wife (scientist), while sitting outside their recreational vehicle at a public campsite, witness a very bright light approach their campsite from the south in an erratic manner, appearing to slow or stop on several occasions as it drew near.  It got within 50 yards, they estimate, of their campsite, at which time, out of a sense of alarm, the husband reached for his .45 caliber sidearm, but he felt unable to use his arm, or lift the firearm.  The object, estimated by the witnesses to have been approximately 20 feet in diameter, hovered nearby for approximately 8 seconds, and then suddenly accelerated toward the west, and disappeared very quickly to the west. Witness Report Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Thursday, October 03rd, 2019, at ~7:00 p.m. (Eastern)—At least five people witness a “fleet” of “cigar-shaped” craft that appeared to change their color from bright red to silver.  The objects are reported to have been able to move abruptly across the sky, and they also appeared to be able to disappear briefly from sight.  The objects seemed to the witnesses to move only in a horizontal plane, and did not appear to the witnesses to change altitude.  One witness comments that other people nearby seemed oblivious to the presence of the objects in a cloudless sky!  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on the Coast to Coast AM radio program, hosted by George Noory, on Friday night, October 04th, 2019, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific).  Peter will discuss the two interesting reports above, plus several others. Because of an unusually large number of reports that have been submitted over the past week, the updating of our website, which usually is performed on either Thursday or Friday, on a weekly basis, will be delayed by a few days.  Whereas our Center has become accustomed to posting between 300 and 500 reports per month, we have already received over 650 reports during September, and the month isn’t closed yet!  We have no explanation for the marked increase of reports this month. Burns, Oregon, on or before July 30, 2019—An alarming mutilation of five Hereford bulls was brought to our attention during August, and we share that information here.  We have no conclusive evidence that the incident is in any way related to the UFO phenomenon, but the classic pattern of mutilation, combined with the absence of human footprints near the five carcasses, raises our level of suspicion that it was not the result of human action.  Here is an article, published by the Capital Press of eastern Oregon. We will update our site again soon, once we have managed to proof-read the deluge of reports that have been submitted to our Center recently.  We have updated the database of sighting reports today, Thursday, September 19, 2019, with the inclusion of 167 new reports, received via our Online Report Form since last Friday, September 13th, 2019.  Given that our staff is under severe time pressure at the time of this update, we will not feature on our homepage specific cases, save for the one report from Taos, New Mexico, which was submitted to our Center just this past week.  That case can be accessed here.  A link to an article that appeared in the Taos News appears in a prior posting.   We will feature certain other interesting cases when we next update our site, and will include illustrations or photos that have been submitted to our Center over recent weeks. As always, we encourage visitors to our website to read everything we post there, but to be discriminating in what they accept at face value.  We urge everyone to be cautious about what they believe, without more evidence than what one written report, submitted by a single source, has to offer the reader. APPEARANCES Peter Davenport is a scheduled speaker at the Mile High Mystery Conference, to be held in Manitou Springs, Colorado, during the upcoming weekend, September 20-22, 2019. RADIO Peter is schedule to make his weekly update on Coast to Coast AM radio program, hosted by George Noory, today, Thursday, September 19, 2019, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific).  Peter will revisit briefly the Taos, New Mexico, case, which he has discussed during recent appearances.  In addition, he will discuss a sighting report of a diamond-shaped craft that allegedly was submitted by a staff member at the Washington State penitentiary, located at Connell, Washington.  She reports that a large group of inmates witnessed a craft, with intensely bright white lights in the corners, circle the prison complex an estimated 15 times.  The air space around the prison is closed to conventional air traffic.  Posted Thursday evening, September 19, 2019.  NUFORC WEBPAGE UPDATED ON SEPTEMBER 12, 2019 Our website has been updated as of this date, with the posting of 90 new sighting reports, received by our Center since Friday afternoon, September 06, 2019.  In addition, we have re-posted 60 older reports that have had to be corrected, or amended, in one way or another.  Although prank calls, and we presume, prank reports, appear to have diminished in number, over the past several weeks, they still appear to be a problem.  Consequently, we encourage visitors to our website to be alert to the possibility that the cases posted here are uninvestigated, and may be flawed in any of many ways.  Even those reports from sincere and serious-minded witnesses may have been submitted with an erroneous time or date, so our counsel to visitors to the site is be discriminating when you read the material posted there. FEATURED REPORTS Piqua, Ohio, Monday, July 15, 2019, @ 8:25 p.m. (EDT)—An adult male, who describes himself as a very experienced engineer, and who occupies a very responsible position in the aviation industry, describes the sighting of a most bizarre looking object, which he alleges to have seen hovering over his backyard, and which he surmises may have be a “portal.”  Almost as quickly as the witness first became aware of the presence of the object, it zipped out of his sight.  His impression is that the object caused light distortion along its trailing edge, as it suddenly accelerated and streaked off.  The witness was emotionally shocked by the event, and has thought about it for the past two months!  ((NUFORC Note:  We spoke via telephone with the witness, and we found him to be exceptionally eloquent and serious-minded.  That fact, combined with his technical background as an experienced engineer, strongly suggests that he probably is an exceptionally skilled, and reliable, eyewitness.  PD))   Witness Report APPEARANCES Peter Davenport is scheduled to speak at the Mile High Mystery Conference, to be held in Manitou Springs, Colorado, on the weekend of September 21-22,, 2019.  Peter will present several dramatic cases, and will include in his talk a discussion of evidence in his possession which may suggest that an alien presence on our planet may be interacting with cetaceans.  In addition, he will attempt to discuss his proposal to detect the presence of UFOs directly, using so-called “passive” radar.  Details about the conference, and about its line-up of speakers, can be accessed at the conference website, https://www.milehighmysteryconference.com.  RADIO:  Peter Davenport is schedule to make his weekly appearance on the Coast to Coast AM radio program, hosted by George Noory, tonight, Thursday, September 12, 2019, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific).  Peter will discuss the case shown above, in addition to several other more recent cases.  COMPLIMENT TO THE TAOS NEWS, TAOS, NEW MEXICO In our update last week, we included a sighting report by two elk hunters, who allegedly had witnessed, near Taos, New Mexico, a strange craft sitting on the ground, and the next day, two very bizarre looking alien creatures standing beside one another.  When we spoke via telephone with one of the two witnesses on September 3rd, we encouraged the gentleman to contact the local press, which he apparently did, accompanied by his hunting partner.  The Editor of the Taos News, Ms. Staci Matlock, did interview the two hunters, and wrote a wonderful article, for which we would like to compliment her.  The article is linked to here. We will post again, within the next several days, to include some interesting footage of strange “fireballs,” which have been reported to our Center for the past seven years, and which remain unexplained. We have updated the NUFORC website as of this date, with the posting of approximately 500 new, and revised, UFO sighting reports.  We always urge visitors to our site to be cautious in what they accept as being true, when reading the reports.  Most of the reports we believe to be sincere and accurate, but we cannot be certain of that fact, and we are sure that some of the reports contain data that is flawed, in one way or another.  Moreover, some of the reports may be out-and-out hoaxes, so be cautious when you read any of the reports, would be our counsel. Here are a couple of reports that in our opinion deserve special attention: · Leyden, Colorado, Saturday, August 31st, 2019, @ 8:08 p.m. (Mountain Daylight Time)—A professional taxi driver witnesses an unusual light in the evening sky, and he captures high-quality video of the object.  There is a link to the video embedded in the text of the witness’s description.  The light is seen maneuvering extensively across the sky.  Witness Report · Taos (rural), New Mexico, Sunday, September 01, 2019, @ (time of day unknown)—Three elk hunters allegedly witness two alien creatures, standing upright, on a nearby hill top.  The next day, two of them return to the same area to look for evidence, and they allegedly witness an unusual looking craft resting on the ground.  ((NUFORC Note:  We are awaiting written reports from the witnesses, but post here a brief summary of a telephone conversation we had on Tuesday, September 03rd, with one of the witnesses.  ((NUFORC Note:  The witness with whom we spoke stated that no one managed to get a photo of either the alleged alien creatures, or the strange craft that was sitting on the ground, which was a bit surprising to us.  However, we learned late on the day of this posting that two of the witnesses had approached a local news outlet in the city of Taos, NM, and shared their story with a reporter, which is a very encouraging sign to us, as to the sincerity of the witnesses, and the likelihood that the story is true.  PD  Click here to read the news story.    ))   Witness Report NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATE ON AUGUST 23, 2019 We have updated our website, as of Friday, August 23, 2019, with the posting of approximately 630 new, and newly edited, UFO sighting reports, received since August 1st, 2019.  We apologize for the long delay in updating the website, which principally was the result of a balky computer program.  In addition, a public presentation by Peter Davenport, several groups of guests and overnight house guests, and a myriad of other demands on our time, from all directions, all played a role in the delay, as well.  However, we expect to have our computer problems solved today, or within several days, which will make the processing of reports a much less time-consuming task, and which should have us back to keeping to our traditional schedule of updating the website on a weekly basis.  There are many interesting, and compelling, reports, among the ones we’ve posted today, but we highlight below a few that especially caught our attention: · NJ Garden State Parkway (near Exit 38 B), New Jersey, Monday, August 12, 2019, @ 9:00 p.m. (Eastern)—A husband and wife were driving north on the NJ Garden State Parkway, when their attention was drawn to two peculiar white lights that appeared to be approaching their location.  Suddenly, they realized that the lights were affixed to a very large, triangular craft, which maneuvered to above the highway and hovered.  The witnesses could see “windows” on the top of the craft, from which light appeared to emanate.  Traffic was passing underneath the craft.  ((NUFORC Note:  We spoke with the wife, and found her to be exceptionally eloquent, and seemingly, quite serious-minded about the sighting she and her husband allegedly had experienced.))  Witness Report · Weehawken, New Jersey, on August 20, 2019, @ 3:00 a.m. (Eastern)—An adult male witnessed a bright star-like object hovering in the early morning sky.  The object began to move across the sky, moving to the east, and was joined by a second similar-looking object.  We believe that the video we provide here is video provided by the witness through Mr. William Westhoven, who works as a journalist for the Daily Record newspaper in Rockaway Township, NJ. NUFORC HOMEPAGE UPDATED ON AUGUST 01ST, 2019 We have experienced minor computer problems recently, which has prevented us from processing the approximately 180 reports that we have received via our Online Report Form since Thursday, July 25th, 2019.  However, we will post links to several reports that we have posted during prior weeks, but which we have not featured during past weeks.  We will update our database as soon as we have solved the difficulties we’re experiencing with our computer. Here are a few written reports that we have found to be of particular interest: · Benicia, California, Wednesday, July 17, 2019, @ 9:50 p.m. (PDT)—An adult male, who describes himself as an experienced sky watcher, was viewing the night sky to the north of his location with his 10 x 42 binoculars, when he noticed what at first he assumed was a very faint satellite.  However, as he watched the object, he noticed that it appeared to be moving across the sky with a distinctly erratic motion.  On at least two occasions, the object executed circular “loops.”  The jerky movements were quite pronounced, the witness reported, equaling approximately 5% of the field of view of the binoculars. Witness Report · Charlotte, North Carolina, Friday, July 19, 2019, @ 9:50 p.m. (EDT)—An adult male, while swimming in a pool, suddenly spots a peculiar-looking white light that attracted his attention.  Within a minute, he estimates, several more, maybe six or seven, appeared in the same area of the sky.  Over the course of the next 10-20 minutes, he witnessed, he estimates, an additional 60-80 more of the strange lights.  A family of three, who were also present at the pool, saw the same lights, and they, too, were perplexed by them.  Witness Report PUBLIC APPEARANCES BY PETER DAVENPORT Peter Davenport has been invited to speak briefly in Spokane, Washington, at the Saturday, August 10, 2019, monthly meeting of the Washington State Chapter of the Mutual UFO Network (“MUFON”).  The meeting will take place in the Spokane Valley Library, 12004 Main Avenue, Spokane, and is scheduled to be convened at 1:00 p.m..  The first speaker will be by Mr. Dan Nims, Washington MUFON State Section Director for Eastern Washington State.  Peter is scheduled to speak for 30 minutes, beginning at 1:20 p.m., and will speak on recent cases from Washington State, and on the use of “passive” radar for detecting UFOs.  Peter will be followed by Maurene Morgan, MUFON Washington State Director, who will speak on significant events in ufology.  Peter is scheduled to speak at the Mile High Mystery Conference, to be held in Denver, Colorado, during the weekend of September 20-22, 2019.  Please see the logo and website below on this homepage for details of the conference. We have updated our website, as of this date, July 25th, with the posting of 262 new sighting reports which have been submitted to our Center, via our Online Report Form, since July 12th, 2019.  And for the second time, over the past four weeks, we feel duty-bound to alert visitors to our site to be particularly vigilant for flawed or prank cases, given that, once again, we have not had the time this week to devote as much time to the screening, proof-reading, and minor editing of the new cases that we feel should be devoted to that effort.  Consequently, we urge those who read the reports to be on the lookout for dates and time that seem inappropriate; for the inclusion of personal data in the text of the report; and any indicator that the case might be a hoax.  Most of all, we apologize any oversight we may have committed in an all too cursory screening process regarding any coarse language that missed our attention, or other offensive content.  If a reader finds what appears to be a glitch in a report, please send an alert to director@ufocenter.com , and I will deal with the issue forthwith.  PHOTOS AND ILLUSTRATION Several visitors to our site have commented that they would like to see more photos, videos, and illustrations than the ones we have posted in month past.  We are aware of the paucity of graphics, and will begin a special effort to post more of them than we have done in the past.  The principal limiting factor has been the time that processing illustrations takes, in order to get them to the homepage…and not just Peter’s time, but the time it takes our webmaster to process and post them.  Our webmaster, Christian, is usually as pressed for time by his normal job, as Peter Davenport is in collecting, processing, and conveying it to the webmaster. NUFORC HOMEPAGE UPDATED ON JULY 12, 2019 We have updated the website, with a posting of 286 reports that are either newly received since July 5th, or recently amended, based on new information.  In addition, we have finally found the time to include in our update several photos, videos, links, and illustrations, which we hope visitors to our website will find interesting.  We always caution visitors to our website to be cautious with regard to accepting, at face value, the claims made in the reports and statements we post.  Obviously, they arrive at our Center from many sources, who may have unknown agendas.  MYSTERY LIGHTS CAPTURED BY SECRITY CAMERAS We post here two videos, and a link to a third, from three different security cameras that have captured footage of a strange phenomenon, with which we are unfamiliar.  We have NO reason to believe that the peculiar objects seen in the footage are in any way linked to the UFO phenomenon, but they have captured our attention, and we would like to resolve the mystery.  We suspect that because all three clips were captured by cameras manufactured by the same company, the peculiar clusters of lights are a system error, or characteristic, of the camera software.  A second possible explanation we have come up with is that the six white lights could be droplets of dew, clinging to a short strand of spider web.  However, we recognize that the likelihood that droplets of dew would be equally spaced under this scenario is extremely low, and much less so in three disparate cases.  Here is the first example we received, from Poyntelle, Pennsylvania, on May 1st, 2019, of footage captured on April 25, 2019, at 3:14 a.m. (EDT).  Here is a link to the second footage we received, which arrived on June 03rd, 2019, and which reportedly was taken at 4:30 a.m. (CDT) on that date.  The link was provided by a source in telephone area code 214 (Dallas, Texas), ostensibly of the same, or similar, phenomenon, as seen in the first case above. Here is the third example of similar footage we received just today, July 12th, 2019, from a source in Canal Point, Florida, of footage taken at 11:17 p.m. (EDT) on July 06th, 2019. If anyone can explain to us what the cause of the phenomenon, seen in the footage, is, we would welcome an e-mail sent to director@ufocenter.com .  RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on Coast to Coast AM, hosted by Mr. George Noory, at 10:15 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019.  He will discuss several of the reports posted to our website today. This statement posted Friday afternoon, July 12, 2019. Traditionally, we read every report before posting it, but this week may be the rare exception to that tradition.  Hence, we post the sighting reports, knowing that there certainly are many flawed reports in those that are being posted on this date.  We urge readers to be on special alert for improperly reported times and dates, and we apologize for any coarse language that may appear in the reports, which we traditionally remove before posting the latest sighting reports. Two reports that we would like to highlight in this preliminary update are the following: · Alaska (north of the Arctic Circle), February 1990, during daytime—A former USAF F-16 pilot reports intercepting, together with his wingman, three “barrel-shaped” objects, during a “scramble” and attempted intercept of targets that had been detected by ground radar.  The peculiar-looking objects allegedly were seen by both fighter pilots to descend from a very high altitude, stopping suddenly within 200 meters of ground level, covering that distance at a velocity that the pilots estimated to be “Mach 6.”  Witness Report · Akron, Colorado, June 30, 2019 @ 08:25 hrs. (MDT)—The crew members of a Delta Airlines airliner, flying at an altitude of 34,000 feet, reported witnessing a metallic-looking sphere, the size of which they estimated to be “approximately the size of the flight deck” of their aircraft.  The crew estimated that the object was within 1,000 vertical feet of their aircraft.  The incident was reported to NUFORC by an Air Traffic Controller at the FAA’s Denver Air Route Traffic Control Center, an audio copy of which can be heard here. We apologize for the recent interruption, over the past several months, of our traditional weekly updates of the NUFORC website.  The delays have been the result of both Peter’s travel schedule and speaking engagements, and our webmaster’s business commitments.  With this posting, we hope to restore our updates to our traditional weekly posting schedule.  We always caution visitors to our website to be on the alert for flawed reports, particularly with regard to time and date of an alleged sighting.  In addition, we encourage those individuals always to be on the lookout for prank reports.  We usually proof-read the reports, before clearing them for posting to our website, but we know from experience that we are capable of egregious oversights in the course of that process.  That fact is particularly true when we are being burdened with a high volume of reports, and when we are experiencing other demands on our time, as well, both of which have been the case, recently. We highlight below a few recently received cases that have caught our attention recently, and which we believe deserve the special attention of visitors to our site: · Mediterranean Sea, Sigonella Naval Base (in-flight), December 16, 1997, @ ~02:00 a.m. (local)—A former radar operator aboard a P-3 “Orion” anti-submarine aircraft reports his having been alerted by the flight crew to the presence of a peculiar object that was in proximity to their aircraft.  The radar operator attempts to detect the object with the onboard radar, but is unsuccessful in doing so.  However, he does manage to detect the object, using the aircraft’s forward-looking infrared detection system.  He moves to the flight deck of the aircraft and sees the strange object visually.  The witness who provided the report describes himself as a pilot.  Witness Report   · Los Angeles (LAX), California, Friday, May 24, 2019, @ 4:40 p.m. (PDT)—An adult male, who describes himself as a frequent flyer, describes witnessing a metallic-looking sphere streak by the commercial aircraft he was on, as the plane set up for landing to the east at Los Angeles International Airport.  The witness emphasizes how fast the object was moving, and the fact that it was visible for only 2-3 seconds. Witness Report · Newark Airport, Monday, June 24th, 2019, @ 1:26 p.m. (EDT)—A husband and wife witness a small, peculiar-looking round, metallic object that seemingly was in near proximity to arriving and departing aircraft in the main traffic pattern.  NUFORC encouraged the wife to contact the Airport Security office at the airport, and was told that “a drone” was being flown in the vicinity of the commercial airliners!  Witness Report PECULIAR OBJECTS SEEN IN THE DAYTIME SKY Beginning on June 18, NUFORC has been receiving reports of apparently high-altitude, brightly illuminated, seemingly spherical objects in the daytime sky.  This type of object has been reported to our Center from Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Colorado, Oregon, California, and perhaps other states, as well.  Our original suspicion was that the objects were helium-filled balloons, launched by either a government organization, or by a private company, but no news agency we are aware of has been able to identify the organization that has launched them.  WHIO-TV in Dayton, Ohio, reported last week that their offices had contacted the U. S. Air Force, DARPA, the FAA, and Google, and perhaps other companies that also are know to launch large balloons, and all of them declined any knowledge about the craft. What NUFORC finds curious about the objects is that they are reported to appear in clusters of up to three objects (Please see June 18 sighting report from Germantown, OH.), and they are reported by some witnesses to remain in one small area of the sky for upwards of two hours, and in unwavering formation, relative to each other.  Other interesting facts surrounding the objects is that several witnesses have reported to NUFORC that the objects suddenly just disappeared from their sight, and that the object seemed to accelerate very quickly and go streaking out of sight, as well. We are very interested in the phenomenon, despite the fact that we have scant evidence about it.  Consequently, we would request that anyone who knows what the source of any launched balloons might be to contact our Center and share any evidence they may have that would serve to explain the phenomenon.  Thank you! Posted on Thursday afternoon, June 27th, 2019 NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED ON JUNE 07, 2019 After a long hiatus, we finally have updated our website, with the posting of more than 500 new sighting reports, submitted to our Center since Tuesday, May 14, 2019.  We apologize for the long delay in updating, which was caused principally by the extended travel and speaking schedule of Peter Davenport, Director of NUFORC.  Also, a large number of reports was submitted to NUFORC, as a result of the launching from Cape Canaveral of 60 “Space Link” micro-satellites, which were released in a cluster, and which caused a very dramatic display in the nighttime sky.  The cluster of satellites gave rise to several hundred reports, each of which had to be processed in the same way that all other sighting reports are proof-read and, when required, edited.  If visitors to our website would like to see an example of how difficult the work of a UFO investigator can be, with regard to trying to understand what the cause of a sighting report might be, we would encourage them to read the reports from the night of May 23rd, 2019, when the satellites were launched aboard a Space X rocket, and for several days subsequent to that launch.  We recommend that visitors read the numerous reports, and then stop to consider that all of the diverse descriptions provided by witnesses are of the same event.  The diversity of descriptions, e.g. of size, color, number of the objects in the cluster, is striking, and is an example of how difficult it often is to collect data that is both accurate, and consistent.  The work of a UFO investigator, and in fact, of any other type of investigator, can be, and often is, frustrating, and sometimes frustrating in the extreme, when dealing with human eyewitnesses! Nevertheless, there are many high-quality reports among those that we have posted today, two of which we highlight below for visitors’ reading pleasure: · Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, March 01st, 1978, @ 10:00 a.m. (Eastern)—An adult male describes witnessing a disc-shaped craft, with USAF insignias affixed to it, sitting in and Air Force hangar during a conducted tour of the base by a group of young AFROTC cadets.  We post below the complete text of the gentleman’s written report, which does not yet appear in our database of cases. BEGIN TEXT OF REPORT: Group of USAF cadets and an officer saw a saucer at an air force base. This is not an air sighting.  I was a member of a group of AFROTC visiting group to Eglin AFB in 1978.  This group consisted of ten cadets (six under contract to the USAF including myself) and a Lt. Col., our advisor.  During our visit we were touring the base in a USAF bus, much like an old school bus, painted a blue/gray. We were trans-versing the flight-line between many large hangers, mostly closed.  We came to a stop at a crossroads stop sign.  I happened to look to our left into an open hanger and saw a saucer-shaped craft approx. 30 feet across with a central dome.  The craft stood on three spindly legs that did not look capable of holding up such a large craft.  There were USAF markings on the upper portion, much like fixed-winged aircraft. I called it to the attention of others, five were pretty close friends.  Several took snapshot pictures of the craft.  The officer with us definitely saw the craft as well.  We observed the craft for at least four minutes, till the bus moved past the stop sign. Within 50 feet, our bus was surrounded by AF Security Police, in full combat gear, in jeeps and trucks.  The officers entered our bus and took everyone's cameras and removed the film on the spot! We were hustled the bus into a nearby hanger serving as offices.  We were officially debriefed and sworn to secrecy under threats of prison for revealing anything about what we had observed in the hanger, then released.  These people were dead serious. Most of us continued our careers into the Air Force, myself into the Security Police, and others became pilots and missile men.  The officer with us became a Congressman after retiring from the military. I have not revealed this information ever, until now.  What the hell, I'm 60 and dying of ((type of malady deleted)), what can they do to me?” ((END TEXT OF REPORT)) · Seattle (North Ballard), Washington State, Friday, May 31st, 2019, @ 01:30 a.m. (Pacific)—An adult female, who describes herself as a nurse, was enjoying an early morning stroll around her neighborhood, when she reportedly became aware of the presence of an orange sphere, seen hovering across the street from her location.  The witness alleges that as she was looking at the sphere, a “grey/green humanoid-type creature” raced up to the sphere and jumped into it from the side, at which point both the sphere and its presumed occupant, simply disappeared from the witness’s sight. Whereas many of the reports appear to us to be very sincere and very well prepared, we wonder about a few of them, with regard to their authenticity.  Consequently, we issue to those individuals who visit our site the same precautionary note as to the authenticity of some of the reports we have posted.  Our objective in issuing the warning is twofold.  First, we feel duty-bound to warn people about flawed reports and pranks, lest they inadvertently be “taken in” by a hoaxed report.  The second reason is to “broadcast” to the world that we at NUFORC are fully cognizant of the fact that not all of the data we receive is worthy of acceptance at face value.  NOTEWORTHY REPORTS We highlight below a few of the recently received reports, which we believe deserve special attention. · Macon, Georgia, Thursday, April 04, 2019, @ 6:55 a.m. (Eastern)—An adult male reports being skeptical that a dramatic green “fireball,” which was seen from many points in the Southeastern U. S., was a meteor.  He has forwarded an excellent, and detailed, report, as well as a very nice computer-generated graphic of what the object allegedly looked like from his vantage point, shown art right.  We encourage anyone who might be interested in this widely reported incident to look at the excellent graphic he has provided, read his report, and read the other reports submitted for the same event.  Witness Report    · Staunton, Virginia, Monday, May 06, 2019, @ 10:37 p.m. (Eastern)—An adult female, who describes herself as a teacher in the arts, reports having witnessed a triangular craft that appeared to be hovering above, or on the other side of, a neighbor’s house for an estimated ten minutes. Witness Report    · Cincinnati, Ohio, Wednesday, May 08th, 2019, @ 9:15 p.m.. A few of the reports that drew our attention, this week, are the following: · Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho, September 15, 2017, @ 2:00 a.m. (Mountain)—A husband and wife, while out rock hunting at night, both heard a very fast-moving “projectile” object pass overhead, and perhaps between their heads.  The impression of the witnesses was that the they had heard the object approach them from across the nearby lake, and then make an steep ascent up the side of a nearby slope after it had passed by their position.  Witness Report · Salinas, California, Friday, April 5th, 2019, @ 1:00 a.m. (Pacific)—An adult female reports witnessing a strange ball of light, containing an alien face, in her bedroom.  The witness reports having been frightened by the experience, which also adversely affected her ability to fall asleep.   Witness Report  · Hillsboro, Ohio, Thursday, April 11, 2019, W 7:00 p.m. (Eastern)—An anonymous witness reports that three members of his/her family had been witness to two triangular objects, which allegedly circled above family’s home.  One of the craft had an estimated seven blinking lights on it, and the second had three.  One of the craft remained in the lead, as the objects circled in the sky.   Witness Report  · San Antonio, Texas, Thursday, April 11, 2019, @ 9:15 p.m. (Central)—An adult couple pulled into the parking lot of their apartment complex, and suddenly became aware of three very large “red-orange” orbs floating nearby in the night sky.  After approximately two minutes, the lights extinguished sequentially, leaving nothing in the sky that was visible.   Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, Director of the National UFO Reporting Center, is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on Coast to Coast AM, hosted by Mr. George Noory, on Friday night, April 12, 2019, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific). We will update the website again next week.    The NUFORC homepage has been updated, as of this date, April 08th, 2019, with the posting of 121 new reports, received since the morning of Friday, March 29, 2019.  We always advise visitors to our website to be on the lookout for flawed reports, or even reports that appear to be out-and-out hoaxes.  Our Center is receiving a large number of prank calls over its Hotline, and we are suspicious that the phenomenon may well spill over to the written reports that are submitted via our Online Report Form.  Some of the reports that have captured our attention, over recent weeks, are the following: · Los Angeles, California, Thursday, February 26, 1942, @ 2:25 a.m. (Pacific)—An adult male, an experienced pilot, with a lifelong interest in aviation from childhood, recounts his witnessing, together with members of his family, the so-called “Battle of Los Angeles” event, thought by many to have been UFO-related.  However, the witness reported via telephone that he believes that the objects fired on by anti-aircraft guns looked more like terrestrial aircraft, even though they seemed to hover practically motionless in the early morning sky.  The witness has expressed his willingness to submit a more detailed report.  Witness Report · Helena, Montana, Thursday, March 28th, 2019, @ 1:00 a.m. (MDT)—An adult female develops a feeling of unease, at which time, she becomes aware of a peculiar light above her home.  Shortly after the appearance of the strange light, she and her boyfriend watch the object as it begins to give off different colored lights, at which time, a “growling” sound begins to emanate from the strange looking object.  At one point, the bedroom of the female observer filled with “fluorescent” colored light.    Witness Report · Beachwood, New Jersey, Monday, April 01st, 2019, @ 1:30 a.m. (Eastern)—A woman peers out her bedroom window and it stunned to see what at first she thought was a meteor in the morning sky.  However, she quickly became alarmed by the display, when she realized that the object was not moving across the sky, but rather, was hovering motionless.  The object split into three large parts, which continued to float in the nighttime sky, after which their luminescence was seen by the witness to suddenly increase.  The objects changed colors, and then “disappeared into nothingness.”    Witness Report  · Fairfield, California, Monday, April 01st, 2019, @ 1:55 a.m. (Pacific)—A witness reports hearing a peculiar “pulsing and rotating low noise” apparently coming from the sky for approximately 20 minutes.  ((Note:  Over recent months, NUFORC has received a number of reports of peculiar sounds apparently emanating from the sky, during both night and day.  PD))    Witness Report   · Southeastern United States, Thursday, April 04th, 2019, @ 6:50 a.m. (EDT)—Individuals located in Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, and perhaps other states report witnessing a “green fireball,” which streaked from west to east over the southeastern U. S..  Video of the event appears to be consistent with a classic dramatic meteor, although many of those who witnessed the event claim that, in their opinion, the object was not a meteor.  Please see multiple reports for the early morning of the indicated date.  Witness Report We will update the website again, later during this week. Posted Monday afternoon, April 08, 2019.  Because Peter Davenport, Center Director, was out of town last week, we were able to complete an update of only our database of sighting reports.  We are still attempting to catch up with the accumulated workload, and will update only the database of reports again today.  We plan to update the homepage again over the upcoming weekend, with the posting of some highlighted reports, as well as some illustrations and photographs.  However, in brief, we would like to call people’s attention to the interesting event that occurred over the reports from the states of Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky on the morning of Friday, March 29, 2019.  Some witnesses to the event have claimed that the object they witnessed during that event was boomerang-shaped, which is altogether incompatible with a meteor.  If anyone reading this statement was witness to that event, we would like to invite the witness to submit a detailed report, using our Online Report Form on this website. We will update again sometime during the upcoming weekend. Posted Friday afternoon, March 29, 2019. We have updated the NUFORC database, both yesterday, and today, with the posting of 143 new sighting reports, received via our Online Report Form.  Given the high volume of “prank” telephone calls we are receiving over our telephone Hotline, and given the recent apparent increase in the number of obviously hoaxed written reports being submitted via the report form, we suspect that among those reports we have posted this week, there probably are some prank reports that we have failed to detect.  Consequently, we urge visitors to our website to be discriminating with regards to which reports they accept uncritically. We highlight below a few reports, from those we have posted recently, that we found to be unusually intriguing: · Savannah, Georgia, Saturday, March 09, 2019, 1:00 a.m. (Eastern)—An adult female reports that as she was driving to the west at approximately 70 mph, she spotted a very large “boomerang-shaped” object, which apparently was either hovering in the sky, or moving very slowly to the east, toward the downtown area of Savannah.  Witness Report · North Woodstock, New Hampshire, Sunday, March 10, 2019, @ 10:15 a.m. (Eastern)—As a father and daughter were driving, the daughter’s attention was drawn to appeared to be a highly reflective, metallic colored disc, that she and her father estimated was hovering at an altitude of approximately 150 feet above ground level.  After the two witnesses have viewed the object for approximately 30 seconds, at which time, it began to move, and disappeared from their sight.  Witness Report · Lakewood, Washington, Monday, March 11, 2019, @ 9:15 a.m. (Pacific)—A young male reports allegedly having witnessed to highly reflective, metallic looking, “orbs” streak across the morning sky, which appeared to the witness to be playing “follow the leader,” while traveling across the sky at a very high (angular) velocity.  The witness estimated that the objects may have been 3-5 feet in diameter.  The sighting lasted approximately 8-10 seconds.  Witness Report · Vero Beach/Palm Bay/Palmetto, Florida, Thursday, March 14, 2019, @ 8:45 p.m. (Eastern)—Multiple witnesses, located in adjoining cities, report having witnessed what most of them estimated to be approximately 50-100 bright white, and amber, lights, seen both hovering, and maneuvering, in the nighttime sky.  At one point during the sighting, the objects appeared to gather together in a tight cluster.  Several reports from different witnesses are posted.  Witness Report 22ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE “PHOENIX LIGHTS” EVENT OF THURSDAY, MARCH 13, 1997 We encourage visitors to our site to read some of the reports that were submitted by witnesses to the “Phoenix Lights” event, which occurred 22 years ago, Thursday night, March 13, 1997.  Link to reports from March 1997  Also, we provide below a link to Peter’s 8-minute long appearance on Coast to Coast AM, then hosted by Art Bell, in which the host and guest discuss the calls that both of them had received on the night of the broadcast from multiple witnesses in the Phoenix, Arizona, area, and from surrounding communities, and neighboring states.  Link to audio clip of interview of Peter Davenport with Art Bell  [Clip provided by Mr. Giuliano Marinkovic.] RADIO APPEARANCES Peter Davenport, Director of NUFORC, is scheduled to make a 30-minute appearance on Night Dreams Talk Radio, hosted by Mr. Michael W. NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATE ON FRIDAY, MARCH 1, 2019 We have updated our website as of this date, with the posting of approximately 52 reports that have been received via our Online Report Form since Friday afternoon, February 22, 2019.  A few of the cases that attracted our attention are the following: · Birmingham, Alabama, Monday, February 18, 2019, @ 9:30 p.m. (EST)—A husband and wife witness 14 strangely lighted objects pass overhead, each traveling in the same flight path as the others.  The husband is a retired FBI Special Agent.  Witness Report · Millinocket, Maine, Saturday, February 23, 2019, @ 7:00 p.m. (EST)—A husband and wife witness a self-luminous, egg-shaped object move rapidly across the nighttime sky.  It appeared to leave a faint trail behind it. Witness Report · Little Lorraine, Nova Scotia, Saturday, February 23, 2019 @ 7:45 p.m. (local)—A husband and wife witness a very peculiar looking orange light that moved rapidly across the nighttime sky.  During the brief, 10-second sighting, the object changed color from orange, to red, and back to orange.  The peculiar object appeared to the witnesses to leave an orange, “flame colored,” streak across the sky.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCES Peter is scheduled to make his regular weekly appearance on Coast to Coast AM, hosted by George Noory, on Friday night, March 01st, 2019, at approximate 10:15 p.m.. The NUFORC homepage and database of sighting reports has been updated, as of this date, bringing the number of reports in our database to 125,535.  Of those reports, 118,500 are posted publicly to our website.  The reports that are not posted are either obvious hoaxes, or defective in one way or another, and are not acceptable for public consumption, in the opinion of our staff. On the subject of defective reports, we always go out of our way to label those reports that we are suspicious of, and we urge visitors to our website to be discriminating in what the believe from some of the reports.  However, despite the fact that some of the new reports may be defective, or may even intentional hoaxes, we believe that possibility does not serve to detract from the many seemingly excellent reports that are posted to our site, and which appear on our website today for the first time.  In support of our belief on that point, we highlight below a few reports that appear to us to be highly reliable, and which exemplify the caliber of report that we enjoy receiving: · Lexington, Kentucky, July 1993 (exact date unknown), @ 12:00 p.m. (local)—As two 10-year old girls are playing, and sketching on a sidewalk, they become aware of a shadow that passes over them.  They look up, and see an unusual that appeared to be highly reflective, and the surface of which appeared to “ripple.”  One of the two witnesses, and the source of the report, is a retired law enforcement officer.   Witness Report   They provided the sketch to the right. · Sabattas, Maine, Friday, February 08, 2019, @ 5:04 p.m. (Eastern)—While driving home, an adult female, who describes herself as a former Law Enforcement Intelligence analyst, witnessed a puff of smoke in the sky, which attracts her interest.  As she drives a bit further up the road she is on, and crests a hill in front of her, she gets a better look at the object, and sees a ball of orange-colored “flame,” which suggested to her that the object might be either an aircraft in distress, or a meteor, but she quickly realizes that neither explanation fits what she is looking at.  As the object hovers over a nearby field, its appearance changes dramatically, and it becomes a gray, elongated oval-shaped craft.  Approximately 6-10 other cars had stopped because of the object, and their occupants apparently were as shocked by the appearance of the object as the first witness was.  The object then appeared to tip one edge up ad ascended laterally across the sky, disappearing from sight in a very short period of time. (Pacific)—Two young boys, while camping outdoors, are awakened by a 20’ diameter disk that passes directly overhead.  After one of the boys was chastised by his father for lying, the two witnesses never spoke about the incident again, until they were adults.  Their recollections of the incident differ slightly, but they both remember the event clearly. Witness Report · Silverton, Oregon, Thursday, February 07, 2019, @ 5:30 p.m. (Pacific)—A mother submitted a report on behalf of her 15-year old daughter, who witnessed a strange craft pass overhead.  The daughter was feeding her horses, when both the horses and her farm dog began to act strangely.  Then, the young woman became aware that something was moving overhead, and scraping the tops of the surrounding trees.  The object moved to the northern sky, where the witness observed a pink glow, that she thought might have been related to the strange craft.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCES Peter Davenport, Director of the National UFO Reporting Center, is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on the radio program, Coast to Coast AM, hosted by George Noory, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific) on Thursday, February 14, 2019.  Coast to Coast AM can be heard anywhere in the U. We highlight below a few of the many interesting reports that have been posted on this date: · Sandpoint, Idaho, Saturday, February 02, 2019, @ 6:00 p.m. (Mountain)—A husband and wife, while sitting in their hot tub, witnessed a “yellow, oblong-shaped” object pass overhead at a modest pace.  The object was below solid clouds, and was visible for approximately one minute.  It did not exhibit any type of red, green, or white light, which would have been the case for a flying object of terrestrial origin, with legally required aircraft lights.  Witness Report · Flamingo (Everglades N. P.), Florida, Friday, February 01, 2019, @ 10:00 a.m. (Eastern)—An adult male, who describes himself as a medical specialist, witnessed an object in the morning sky, which he at first thought was a helium-filled mylar balloon.  However, the longer he looked at the object, which appeared to oscillate between blue and purple in color, the more the witness began to believe that it was not reflecting sunlight, but rather was self-luminous.  The witness reports that the object rose to cloud level, entered the clouds, and disappeared from his sight.  Witness Report · Madison, Connecticut, Wednesday, February 06, 2019, @ 6:38 a.m. (Eastern)—An adult male, who describes himself as an engineer, and who appears to have a very responsible job, while driving to work, witnessed a peculiar, spherical “white cloud with a tail,” which hovered in the southern sky for approximately 20 minutes.  The cloud did not appear to the witness to be a contrail behind a high-altitude aircraft, and he did not think it was the smoky trail left by a meteor.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, Director of NUFORC, is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on the Coast to Coast AM radio program, hosted by George Noory, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific) on Thursday, February 07, 2019.  Peter will discuss the reports shown above, and several others from among the newly posted reports.  Posted on Thursday afternoon, February 07, 2019.  We have updated our website, as of this date, with the posting of 111 new, or recently amended, UFO sighting reports.  As visitors to our site read through the reports, we urge them to be alert to the possibility that some of the reports may be flawed, and some may even be overt attempts to hoax the reader.  Please be discriminating in what information you accept at face value! A few of the more interesting cases we highlight below: · Austin, Texas, Sunday, January 20, 2019, @ 1:00 p.m. (Central)—An adult male reports having witnessed a highly reflective, metallic, sphere-shaped object in the daytime sky.  After the witnessed had observed the peculiar object for just a few seconds, the object suddenly began to accelerate to the left, then the right, and then back left again, and seemed to shoot off into the sky, all in a matter of a few seconds.   Witness Report · Austin, Texas, Sunday, January 20, 2019, @ 11:17 p.m. (Central)—A adult male was outside, watching the “Blood Moon” lunar eclipse, when he noted what he first thought was a meteor, streaking across the nighttime sky.  The “meteor” quickly burned out, at which time the witness reports suddenly seeing two triangular shaped craft, in seemingly unwavering formation, move across the sky quite quickly.  The triangular craft were visible to the witness for only about five seconds, before disappearing from his sight.   Witness Report · Tucson, Arizona, Tuesday, January 22, 2019, @ 11:07 p.m. (Mountain)—A seemingly quite capable young woman, while driving north toward the Catalina Mountains, witnesses seven bright white lights, then realizes that they are attached to a quite large craft that was hovering motionless in the night sky.  The object/craft proceeded slowly to the southeast, and witness turned her car around, in attempt to follow it.  However, she reports that it just seemed to have  disappeared from sight.  Witness Report · Burleson, Texas, Wednesday, January 23rd, @ 10:48 p.m. (Central)—Two witnesses, while driving on Rendon Crowley Road, witness a cluster of lights that appear to be hovering motionless in the nighttime sky.  ((NUFORC Note:  The report is not posted to the NUFORC database of sightings, so we provide the original text of the “raw” report below.  We recommend that readers look at the interesting video, posted to YouTube, a link to which is provided in the report by the witness.  We are unable to certify that the object is an authentic alien spacecraft, although we find the video to be quite intriguing.  PD)) 100 Date:  01/23/19 110 Time:  22:48 120 Duration:  15 minutes 130 Sighting City:  Burleson 140 Sighting State:  TX 150 Sighting Zip:  76028 160 Sighting County:  Johnson 170 Witnesses:  2 172 Shape:  Changing 168 Number of Craft:  6 180 Description: 6 flickering  red/white lights linked together in a broken “V,” converged to form a hexagon, then flew away. Video 190 Description: Driving down I-35 westbound and Rendon Crowley Rd., next to Texas Health Huguley Hospital, I was on the phone with my girlfriend, driving ahead of me, and we both witness strange red/white flashing lights in the sky a little in the distance.  We drove parallel to these lights and it looked like they were linked in a chain together 3 lights majority stay red followed by one majority staying white, then 2 more majority red (still flickering the opposite color red to white or white to red).  They formed a broken V-shape, while spread out seemingly linked together somehow.  I wanted a better look so we exited the highway, turned around, and then came into the view of the strange lights.  They were remaining still the first time we drove by them.  As we approached they seemed to form a hexagonal shape, and started to glow the same color, but would randomly flicker the opposite light individually (red to white).  As we got closer to the spot we first witness them, they drifted away further and further ahead.  I recorded this video below. Background: I don't have any UFO viewing experiences, but have always wanted to see something out of the ordinary.  Absolutely love watching documentaries about UFO's.  I had some slight doubt at first.  Just so absolutely happy I was finally able to witness this wonderful event.  25 years old, white male, manage an electronic retail store. RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, Director of NUFORC, is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on Coast to Coast AM, hosted by Mr. George Noory, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific) on Thursday night, January 24th, 2019.  Peter will discuss the cases highlighted above, as well as several other interesting sightings that occurred during the recent lunar eclipse of January 20th.  We have updated the NUFORC website, as of this date, with the posting of 143 reports that have either been revised, or received, since the afternoon of January 04th, 2019.  We have attempted to label all those reports that have been submitted by anonymous sources, but we may have missed a few, during a hurried process of proof-reading of each new report, this week.  At every new posting, we encourage visitors to our site to be on the lookout for reports that appear to be either flawed, or suspicious, for one reason or another.  We highlight below a few of the more interesting reports that have been submitted recently: · Hurricane, West Virginia, Monday, January 07, 2019, @ 7:32 p.m. (EST)—A husband and wife witness a distinctly green move very rapidly overhead, and above clouds.  The witnesses estimated that the apparent size of the object in the evening sky was approximately half that of a full Moon, and that it passed from the southern sky, to the northern horizon, in well under a minute, remaining above the local cloud cover the whole while.  The witnesses believe that the object probably was not a meteor.  Witness Report · West Seneca, New York, Thursday, January 10, 2019, @ 18:10 p.m. (EST)—A husband and wife, while walking their dog, witness a “tear-shaped” object hovering motionless in the nighttime sky.  They estimated that the object, gray in color, was approximately the size of a baseball diamond, and that it was hovering not more than 50 feet above nearby trees.  The witnesses assert that the object just disappeared before their eyes. NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATE ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 04, 2019 We have updated the NUFORC website, as of this date, with the posting of 206 new sighting reports, submitted to our Center since Friday, December 14, 2018.  A few of those cases we highlight below.  We apologize to regular visitors to our site for the long delay in our updating over the Christmas and New Year’s Holiday.  Because of the high volume of prank calls we currently are receiving over our Hotline…typically dozens per day…we suspect that the same problem may spill over to the stream of incoming written reports.  We have attempted to detect and eliminate prank reports, but we suspect that we may not have detected all of them this week.  Consequently, we caution visitors to our website, as we invariably do, to be on the alert for reports that may not seem entirely authentic.  Those reports that deserve special scrutiny are those that have been submitted by individuals who elect to remain anonymous, and who often provide no contact information.  However, there are, nevertheless, many excellent reports, submitted by anonymous parties, that deserve a reader’s attention, so a anonymous report is not necessarily unreliable. We list below a few reports that we view to be of particular interest: · Boise, Idaho, Tuesday, January 01, 2019, @ 2:30 a.m. (Mountain Standard Time)—A young woman observes six bright red and orange lights drifting across the nighttime sky.  She succeeds in photographing three of them.  ((NUFORC Note:  We have not spoken with the witness yet, but will soon, and will request copies of the photos.  PD)) Witness Report · Easthampton, Massachusetts, Wednesday, January 03, 2019, @ 5:20 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time)—A woman, while driving home from work, witnessed three intensely bright white lights, the center one of which was pulsating slowly, all three of which appeared to be hovering in the direction of the Connecticut River.  Shortly after first noticing the lights, the woman was able to see that the lights were attached to a craft, that appeared to the witness to be quite large. We are posting under some time pressure, but will update the website again in the near future, and will provide other illustrations and photographs, once they have arrived at our headquarters.  Posted on Friday afternoon, January 04th, 2019.  Our website, together with our database of sighting reports, has been updated, as of the date of this writing, December 14, with the posting of 78 recently submitted reports, received since the afternoon of Thursday, December 06th, 2018.  HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR THE UFO TELEPHONE HOTLINE Peter Davenport, Director of NUFORC, is going to out of town for several days of travel, beginning on December 15, and will not be available for answering the UFO telephone Hotline over the Christmas Holiday.  However, he will monitor remotely telephone messages and e-mail during his travels.  Consequently, if you witness what you believe may have been an authentic UFO and would like to submit a report, we would like to encourage you to refrain from calling the Hotline, and instead, we would invite you instead to submit a detailed, written account of your sighting, using our Online Report Form, found elsewhere on this website.  We will then post your report to our database of sightings, although it may be 10-14 days before the next updating of the NUFORC website. Seven Devils, North Carolina, Friday, November 30, 2018, @ 10:30 p.m. (Eastern)—An adult male reports having witnessed what he believes was a very large, rectangular craft, with perhaps as many as a dozen peculiar lights on its ventral surface.  The witness likens the object to the shape of an “iPhone.”  The object suddenly accelerated, and shot off into the night sky.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, Director of NUFORC, is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on Coast to Coast AM, hosted by Mr. George Noory, on Thursday night, December 06, 2018, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific).  Peter will discuss the case featured above, and perhaps several others. Our Hotline is being inundated with prank telephone calls, and we suspect that some of the people who place those calls are also predisposed to submit prank reports.  Consequently, we always caution visitors to our site to be on the look-out for pranks reports.  We carefully read each report, before we clear them for posting, but we suspect that we are unable to detect and remove all the pranks that, tragically, seem to be submitted to our Center, on a regular basis.  Here are a few reports that caught our attention this week: · Fire Island (Long Island), New York, Sunday, November 03rd, 2018, @ 11:00 p.m. (EDT)—A group of five adults become aware of a yellow-colored light that is hovering over the water of Long Island Sound, and casting what appears to be a pool of light on the surface.  The light suddenly streaks toward them, and is seen to split into two separate objects.  After a short period of time, the objects moved very quickly to the north, toward Long Island. Witness Report · Avenal, California, Monday, November 19, 2018, @ 10:45 a.m. (PST)—An airline pilot and first officer report having witnessed a large, dark, object pass very close to their aircraft at very high speed.  They did not get a good look at it, but the pilot estimated it was much closer than the minimum distance of 1,000 feet, that is required under the U. S. Federal Aviation Regulations.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, NUFORC Director, is scheduled to appear on NIGHT DREAMS TALK RADIO, whose new weekend host is Michael W. A few of the recent reports that caught our eye are the following: · Fire Island (Long Island), New York, Saturday, November 03, 2018, @ 11:30 p.m. (EDT)—A group of five visitors to the beach all witness an object that seemed to project a yellow light down at the water.  The light suddenly became brighter, and then the source of the light suddenly “jumped” at the witnesses, passing overhead, and continuing to the north over Long Island.  Witness Report · Faison, North Carolina, Wednesday, November 07, 2018, @ 7:35 p.m. (EST)—An adult male, who describes himself as having multiple university degrees, witnesses a very bright and large white light to the east of his vehicle, as he drove east on Interstate 40.  As he approached the light, he suddenly realize that it was mounted on a large, dark craft that appeared to be hovering almost motionless in the sky.  The driver then realized that there were two other similar looking craft hovering nearby. Witness Report · Tonawanda, New York, Thursday, November 08, 2018, @ 5:34 p.m. (EST)—An adult male, who describes himself as a professional driver, alleges to have witnessed a spherical craft drop down out of solid (?) clouds, move very rapidly to the north, change its flight path across the sky, and then rise up again into the clouds.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCES Peter Davenport is scheduled to appear on the Coast to Coast AM radio program, hosted by George Noory, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific) on Friday night, November 09, 2018.  Peter will talk about the three cases above, and other reports, as well. A couple of reports that caught our attention this week are the following: · West Branch, Iowa, Monday, October 22, 2018, @ 11:35 p.m. (CDT)—An adult male, who describes himself as both a professional truck driver, and a Christian minister, reports having witnessed a peculiar “fireball” descend very rapidly, and almost perfectly vertically (from his vantage point) in the nighttime sky.  His opinion was that the object was not a meteor.  The event lasted approximately 3-5 seconds.   Witness Report   · Winston-Salem, NC, Tuesday, October 23, 2018, @ 6:05 a.m. (EDT)—An adult male stepped outside his residence to have a smoke, and suddenly became aware of rectangular-shaped object above him.  The object exhibited both yellow-orange and red lights on its dorsal surface, and trailing edge.  As the object moved in the direction of Winston-Salem, the witness became aware of a second similar object above the first, but heading in a different direction from the first.  Witness Report  See image at right and these:  Rendering 1    Rendering 2   Rendering 3 PUBLIC SPEAKING ENGAGEMENT Davenport is scheduled to make a public presentation in his hometown, Harrington, Washington, on Saturday, October 27th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. (PDT).  The presentation will be held in the Harrington Opera House, which is located in downtown Harrington. Posted Thursday evening, October 25, 2018.  NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATE ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2018 The NUFORC website has been updated, as of today’s date, October 18, 2018.  We have posted 50 new reports, received since Friday afternoon, October 12, in addition to several reports that have been updated.  We always caution visitor to our site who read the newly posted reports always to be on the alert for errors and possible hoaxed reports, particularly among those reports that are submitted by sources who elect to remain anonymous, and/or who provide no contact information.  We strive to label those anonymous reports so that people reading them will be aware of the fact that the report may be bogus.  Several of this week’s reports that have drawn our attention are the following: · West Simsbury, Connecticut, Friday, October 12, 2018, @ 6:00 a.m. (EDT)—An adult female describes witnessing an apparently quite large, rectangular-shaped object, with multiple small red and white lights on its ventral surface, pass slowly overhead.  It proceeded over a line of trees, at which time the lights appeared to turn to blue.  Witness Report · New York City (Brooklyn), New York, Tuesday, October 16, 2018, @12:41 a.m. (PDT)—An adult female reports having witnessed an object with red and blue lights, pass overhead.  A helicopter appeared to have been aware of the presence of the object, and may have been pursuing it.  Both the object and the helicopter disappeared from the witness’s sight, as they passed behind a nearby building.  Witness Report · Nashville, Tennessee, Wednesday, October 17, 2018, @ 12:30 p.m. (CDT)—An adult female, while parked in her car and eating lunch, suddenly observed a small, highly reflective, silver color spherical “ball” in the daytime sky, which appeared to be hovering motionless.  A short time after having witnessed the highly reflective object, she became aware of two more similar looking objects, positioned off to the right of the first object spotted, although the two new objects were not as reflective as the silver sphere, and one was colored a distinct red, and the other blue.  The red and blue spheres approached the first sphere, all three appeared to “lock” into position with each other, and then slowly moved off in the daytime sky, appearing to move now as one object.  Witness Report · Redondo Beach, California, Wednesday, October 17, 2018, @ 9:55 p.m. (PDT)—An adult male reports having witnessed a “V-shaped” formation of red flashing lights pass overhead, which was accompanied by an unmistakable deep roaring sound.  The witness succeeded in capturing video of the object.  ((NUFORC Note:  The sound signature suggests to us that the object may have been a transport aircraft, although the light pattern captured in the video appears to be inconsistent with an aircraft.  PD)) Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, NUFORC Director, is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on the radio program, Coast to Coast AM, hosted by George Noory, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific) on Thursday, October 18, 2018.  Peter will discuss the reports posted above, and other issues, well. The NUFORC website and database of sighting reports have been updated as of the date of this writing, Friday, October 12, 2018.  We have posted approximately 90 new reports, received by our offices since Thursday afternoon, October 4th.  Falcon 9 Launch:  Please note that many of the new reports were submitted by witnesses to the launch of the Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base at 7:22 p.m. (Pacific Daylight Time) on Sunday night, October 07, 2018.  I would urge visitors to our website to note the diversity of times, dates, and descriptions among the reports, a fact which illustrates the difficulty that UFO investigators have in attempting to reconstruct the facts of a UFO sighting from follow-up written eyewitness accounts.  In the case of the rocket launch, all the witnesses were watching the same event at the same time, and yet many of the facts differ significantly between reports.  Even the best of reports about a sighting of a suspected UFO often differ dramatically from one another, which invariably makes recreating of an event very difficult, and often impossible. Noteworthy Cases—The recent cases include a number of very interesting events, which we believe deserve special citation: · Cape Coral, Florida, Friday, October 12, 2018, @ 2:55 a.m. (EDT)—An adult male, who describes himself as a public servant and an experienced photographer, describes having witnessed an object, surrounded by a light blue halo, with a visible tail, as well as a “spike” ahead of the core object, move rapidly across the sky.  The object was visible for approximately 6-8 seconds, the witness estimated, and it seemed to “fade in,” or appear slowly, and disappear from sight in a similar manner.    Witness Report · Wellborn, Florida, Thursday, October 11, 2018, @ 9:00 p.m. (EDT)—An adult male, who describes himself as highly experienced and educated, alleges that he witnessed a very bright light in the western sky, approximately 3x the size and luminosity of Venus, shortly after which he describes having witnessed a “chevron” of lights, with the lights being located along the leading edge of the “wings” of the chevron.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, NUFORC Director, is scheduled to appear on the Coast to Coast AM radio program, hosted by George Noory, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific) on Friday night, October 12, 2018.  Peter will discuss the reports cited above, as well as several others.  Peter may also appear on Night Dreams Talk Radio on Saturday night, October 13, at approximately 7:00 p.m. (Pacific).  The Saturday night host is Mr. Michael W. Hall, who bills himself as the “Paranormal Attorney.” Posted on Friday night, October 12, 2018.  We probably will post again within the next several days.  PD We have updated our database of sighting reports as of both Thursday, September 27th, and again as of today’s date, October 06th.  There are many interesting reports among both postings of reports, but one that is of particular interest is a report of a UFO crash recovery in Shanxi Province, China, during the summer of 1997, which we summarize, and link to below.  We express our gratitude to Mr. Shao Ma, Director of the International China UFO Association (“ICUFOA”), for sharing this interesting case with NUFORC: Datong (Shanxi Province), China, summer of 1997—A retired Chinese soldier reports that he allegedly witnessed a crashed saucer-shaped craft at some time during the summer of 1997.  He reports that the craft was approximately six meters in diameter, and approximately two meters, from top to bottom.  Moreover, he adds that when he came upon the crash site, there were two unusual looking alien creatures lying next to the craft, the door of which reportedly was open.  Information about the event apparently was was actively quashed by the Chinese military and government.  Witness Report Posted Saturday afternoon, October 06, 2018.  We have updated the NUFORC website as of this date, with the posting of 147 eyewitness sighting reports, submitted to our Center since the afternoon of Friday, August 31st, 2018.  We always encourage visitors to our website to be on the alert for flawed or pranked reports.  Flaws frequently occur in the entries for the time and date of an alleged sighting, and reports submitted by sources who elect to remain anonymous, or who provide no contact information, deserve special scrutiny. A few of the recent reports that caught our attention this week are the following: · Spokane, Washington State, Sunday, September 09, 2018, @ 10:35 a.m. (Pacific)—A young male student reports having witnessed a disc-shaped craft streak across the morning sky in airspace that is frequented by airliners landing at Spokane International Airport. Witness Report · South El Monte, California, Monday, September 11, 2018, @ 7:50 p.m. (Pacific)—A young man alleges that he witnessed a “ball of light,” which he first assumed was a meteor, streak out of the northern night sky, slow, and then stop!  The object then accelerated and flew back into the night sky, following along a flight path that was completely different from its original course.  Witness Report · Ottertail, Minnesota, Wednesday, September 12, 2018, @ 9:20 p.m. (Central)—An adult brother and sister witnessed an large, unlighted object pass across the dark night sky.  Their impression was that the surface of the round, or oval, object was highly reflective.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, NUFORC Director, is scheduled to make his traditional weekly appearance on Coast to Coast AM, hosted by Mr. George Noory, tonight, Thursday, September 13, 2018, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific).  Peter will discuss the cases featured above, as well as other reports and events. There are many interesting reports this week, but one that captured our attention is highlighted below: · Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, Wednesday, August 29th, 2018, @ 8:19 p.m. (Pacific)—A group of six witnesses observe a group of approximately 20 bright white lights, seen hovering in a horizontal straight line above the Pacific Ocean for approximately 18 minutes. The lights appeared to the witnesses to move slightly, and several of them extinguished sequentially, and then reappeared in the same location. NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED ON AUGUST 22ND, 2018 We have updated the website as of Wednesday afternoon, August 22nd, 2018, with the posting of approximately 65 new, and newly revised, UFO sighting reports.  We always recommend that visitors to our website be on the lookout for flawed or prank reports, particularly among those reports from sources who elect to remain anonymous, and/or who provide no contact information.  Some of the reports that caught our attention this week are the following: · Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Friday, August 17, 2018, @ 8:30 p.m. (Eastern)—An adult male reports having witnessed two dark triangular craft that were moving in and out of clouds.  He estimates that the two objects were visible for 7 to 10 minutes.  Witness Report · Oslo, Norway, Saturday, August 18, 2018, @ 10:59 p.m. (local)—A young, though very experienced, astronomer witnesses two stationary white lights (Magnitude -2.0) suddenly appear in the night sky, approximately 2 degrees from one another.  The witness pointed them out to his mother, who also observed them, within two seconds of which the lights suddenly faded (to Magnitude 3.0).  At that point in time, the objects began to move in unwavering formation, covering an estimated 5 degrees of arc, at the end of which they faded out, and disappeared  from the witnesses’ sight.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCES Because of his travel schedule this week, Peter Davenport is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on Coast to Coast AM, hosted by George Noory, on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2018, instead of Thursday or Friday of this week.  He will appear at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific) for approximately 3-4 minutes.  Peter will discuss those reports that appear above, as well as several other items of interest. Posted Wednesday afternoon, August 22nd, 2018.  We have updated our website, with the posting of 107 recently received UFO sighting reports, submitted to our Center since the afternoon of Friday, August 10th, 2018.  We always encourage visitors to our website to be on the alert for potentially flawed, or prank reports, as they read through the new entries.  Of particular concern are those reports submitted by individuals who elect to remain anonymous, and who provide no contact information.  Reports from sources who remain anonymous are labelled in both the “Summary” and “Description” boxes of the report form.  Our webmaster has returned from his recent summer travels, so we should be able to keep the website updated and current with at least one posting per week, usually on either Thursday or Friday afternoons, which has become our traditional updating schedule.  Some of the recently submitted reports that have caught our attention are highlighted below: · Lynden, Washington, July 31st, 1951, @ ~10:00 p.m. (Pacific)—A young teenage couple were out walking, and suddenly noticed a bright light that appeared to be approaching them at high speed out of the night sky.  When the light stopped either above, or near the nearby Abbotsford, B. C. Airport, it appeared to split into four separate discs, which hovered in place for an estimated 60 seconds.  The formation then began to ascend back into the night sky very rapidly, and the discs appeared to join back with one another, once again, taking on the appearance of a single source of light.  Witness Report · Angra, Portuguese Azores, August 08th, 1967, @ ~10:00 a.m. (local)—A U. S. Navy officer is surprised to see a formation of military personnel begin to break up spontaneously for no apparent cause.  The personnel began to stare up at the sky, staring at what later was thought, and reported, to be a very unusual looking, and unidentifiable, object.  Within days of the event, two U. S. Navy meteorologists reported to their commanders being approached by, and perhaps temporarily incapacitated by, two very tall alien creatures.  Witness Report · Cape Mears, Oregon, Monday, July 23, 2018, @ 4:50 a.m.—A young couple were camped on a bluff above the Pacific Ocean, and were suddenly awakened by a strange noise.  They exited their tent, looked down on the ocean, and witnessed three orange-colored spheres, that were hovering just above the water, and below the witnesses.  The couple watched as the round objects moved farther out to sea, turned south, and disappeared from their sight. NOTIFICATION:  Given that our webmaster will be traveling until August 8th, this will be our last posting to our website, until after that date.  We will resume our normal weekly updates, following his return from his travels.  A few of the reports that drew our attention are the following: · Portland, Maine, Friday evening, July 13, 2018, @ 10:30 p.m. (Eastern)—Several adults witness two small white lights moving across the sky at very high (angular) velocity, which attracted their attention.  At the witnesses are observing the two lights, the lights suddenly turn left and right, respectively, swapping positions, and then they continue along their original flight patch across the night sky.  Witness Report · Seattle, Washington, Saturday evening, July 14, 2018, @ 7:00 p.m. (Pacific)—A wife and husband witness a tiny object in the sky to the south of the Seattle ferry docks, which appears to the witnesses to be hovering motionless, and in the direction of Boeing Field and Sea-Tac Airport.  The object, on two separate occasions, appeared to extend something from its side, and then retract the same object.  Over the course of subsequent minutes, the object appeared possibly to ascend, and then drifted from the witnesses’ view.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCES Peter Davenport is scheduled to make his normal, weekly appearance on Coast to Coast, hosted by George Noory, on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific).  Peter will discuss the two reports above, plus other reports, as well. We highlight below a few of the reports that we have found to be of particular interest: · Pendleton, Oregon, Wednesday, July 11, 2018, @ 10:45 a.m. (Pacific)—A male photojournalist witnesses, and photographs, two similar-looking, light-colored, possibly translucent objects in the daytime sky.  The witness reported that the objects seemed to “merge,” at one point during the sighting.  Seen later in the day by other witnesses, and registered on security cameras.  ((NUFORC Note:  We have not been able to rule out that the objects may have been high-altitude, helium-filled balloons, carrying a scientific package beneath the balloon.  PD)) Witness Report · Culver/Redmond, Oregon, Wednesday, July 11, 2018, @ 7:00 p.m. (Pacific)—Six witnesses observe a small, round, possibly translucent object hover in the early evening sky.  At one time, it was directly overhead from their vantage point.  ((NUFORC Note:  We will attempt to establish whether the object might have been a high-altitude helium-filled balloon, carrying a scientific instruments, as described above in the Pendleton sighting report.  PD)) Witness Report · Owasso, Oklahoma, Wednesday night, July 11, 2018, @ 11:55 p.m. (Central)—An adult male, apparently a skilled sky-watcher, describes witnessing a peculiar-looking craft that exhibited apparently non-standard aircraft lights on it.  A few seconds later, the witness observed a second, similar-looking craft a short distance behind the first.  Within a few more seconds, the first object just disappeared from sight, followed immediately by the second, which also just faded from sight. Witness Report · Mulino, Oregon, Friday morning, July 13, 2018, @ 00:30 a.m. (Pacific)—A husband and wife witness two peculiar craft, which exhibited very unusual, multi-colored lights, move toward them from the south and pass overhead, traveling to the north.  The objects appeared to have at least one row of lights that ran along the ventral surface of both craft.  Shortly after the first two had passed over, the two witnesses became aware of a second pair of similar looking objects, hovering motionless nearby.  The witnesses attempted to video the craft, but assert that their cameras were inoperable during the time that the two craft were moving overhead. We always caution visitors to our site to be on the alert for flaws in the reports, and for overtly pranked reports, particularly among those reports that were submitted by sources who elect to remain anonymous, and who provide no contact information.  Common sense, and a healthy measure of skepticism, are always useful characteristics for anyone reading reports of alleged UFO sightings.  Here are a few interesting reports that captured our attention, over the past week: · (South Long Lake), Minnesota, October 15th, 1932, @ 11:00 p.m.—A husband and wife, while standing near their lakeside cabin, witness a very bright light move rapidly overhead, stop near the center of the lake, and hover for approximately five minutes.  The object then suddenly accelerated and quickly disappeared into the clear night sky.  Witness Report · Goodwin, South Dakota, May 4th, 1963, @ 10:00 p.m. (CDT)—As a family drives to the north on Highway 312 in eastern South Dakota, they witness a very bright light fly overhead, and land on the highway ahead of their car.  Their recollection is that family members were taken from the car by very bizarre-looking creatures.  Date and time of event are approximate.  Witness Report · Hazel, South Dakota, May 01st, 1963, @ 9:00 p.m. (CDT)—Several members of a family witness an intensely bright flash that “turned everything to daylight.”  The report appears possibly to corroborate the sighting above from Goodwin, South Dakota.  Date and time of the dramatic event are approximate. Some of the reports that caught our attention this week are the following: · Siletz (rural), Oregon, Wednesday, June 06, 2018, @ 7:30 p.m. (PDT)—Four witnesses report having seen a gray, bi-pedal, creature in a remote forest setting on the outskirts of Siletz, Oregon.  The principal witness was a 12-year old girl, who reports having witnessed the gray creature on three separate occasions.  Witness Report · Hudson, New York, Friday, June 08, 2018, @ 9:15 p.m. (EDT)—Two witnesses observe what they estimated were not fewer than 80 small orange-colored objects drift across the night sky.  The display was visible for what the witnesses estimated to have been at least 90 minutes. Witness Report · Brighton, Colorado, Monday, June 18, 2018, @ 9:45 p.m. (MDT)—An witness who describes himself as an experienced pilot and aircraft mechanic, reports having witnessed a peculiar white light, backdropped by dark storm clouds.  The light appeared to the witness to wobble slightly, and after approximately 2-3 minutes of having observed the light, the witness was unable to ascribe it to any type of phenomenon he is familiar with.  He was certain that the light could not have been part of the lighting system of either a fixed-wing, or rotor-wing, aircraft.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCES Peter Davenport, Center Director, is scheduled to make his traditional weekly appearance on the radio program, Coast to Coast AM, hosted by George Noory, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (PDT) on Thursday, June 21st, 2018.  Peter will discuss the three reports highlighted above, plus other issues. Also, Peter is scheduled to appear on Night Dreams Talk Radio, hosted by Michael W. Hall, billed as the “Paranormal Attorney.”  Peter will follow an appearance by Maurene Morgan, State Director for Washington State Chapter of MUFON, who will be on the Michael’s guest from 7:00-7:30 p.m. (Pacific) on Sunday, June 24th, 2018.  Peter will talk about some recent sighting reports, and on other topics, as well. The NUFORC website has been updated, as of this date, with the posting of 63 new sighting reports, which have been received by our Center since the afternoon of Thursday, June 7th of last week.  We caution visitors to our site to be on the alert for errors, and for hoaxed reports, as they read the newly posted material. Several of the reports have captured our attention, and we summarize them below: · Georgetown, Texas, Friday, June 15, 2018, @ 5:05 a.m. (Central)—A husband and wife were out walking, when their attention was suddenly drawn to a bright light, located in the northeastern sky, that appeared to be approaching the witnesses’ location.  As they watched the light, they suddenly became aware that it was being followed by four smaller lights.  As the first cluster passed overhead, the witnesses observed a second formation of lights, which were oriented relative to one another in a formation different from that of the first group.  The witnesses estimate that they witnessed 50-100 individual lights in the formations that passed overhead, and the event lasted an estimated 25 minutes.  The husband is a former U. S. Air Force fighter pilot instructor.  Witness Report · Medford, OR, Friday, June 15, 2018, @ 08:18 a.m. (Pacific)—On his way to work, an adult male was driving south on Highway 62 in north Medford, when his attention was suddenly drawn to a very bright object in the southern sky, which appeared to be metallic and oval.  The object was partially obscured by clouds, and was moving to the east, i.e. from his right to left.  The object suddenly just disappeared from the witness’s sight. Although we were not able to update our homepage on June 1st, of last week, we were, nevertheless, able to update the database of sighting reports, on that date.  In addition, we have updated both the homepage and the database as of today’s date, with the posting of approximately 52 new reports, submitted to our Center via our Online Report Form, since the afternoon of June 1st, 2018.  However, we have updated, this week, under conditions of time pressure, and were not able to devote as much time to the proof-reading of new reports as we traditionally like to do.  Hence, we encourage visitors to our site to be on the alert for errors, and even hoaxed reports, as they read through those reports. One of the reports that caught our attention we share below: · Lubbock, Texas, on Sunday, June 03rd, 2018, @ 00:25 a.m. (CDT)—A young high school student, who describes himself as an amateur astronomer, observed a peculiar, triangular-shaped, craft, with rapidly strobing lights, pass across the night sky, traveling from east to west.  He managed to get a very good look at the object through his spotting scope.   Witness Report   Sketch Supplied by Witness RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, NUFORC Director, is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on Coast to Coast AM radio program, hosted by George Noory, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific Daylight Time) on Thursday night, June 07th, 2018.  Peter will discuss several of the new reports, as well as other subjects. Posted Thursday afternoon, June 07th, 2018 Our website has been updated as of this date, with the posting to our database of approximately 115 recently submitted sighting reports, received since Thursday, May 24th, 2018.  We have made every attempt to carefully proof-read all of the posted reports, but recognize that there is always the possibility that we have overlooked errors, and reports that are inaccurate, or intentionally misleading.  Consequently, we urge visitors to our site to be on the constant lookout for oversights in our proof-reading process. RADIO APPEARANCES Peter is scheduled for two radio appearances, over the next two days.  The first appearance will be on the late night radio talk show, Midnight in the Desert, hosted by Ms. Heather Wade, which is broadcast from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. (Pacific) on major AM stations.  Peter is scheduled to appear on the program, beginning at 10:00 p.m. (Pacific), tonight, Thursday, May 31, 2018, and will speak about recent interesting UFO sighting reports, as well as on on the subject of ufology, in general, and on other related topics.     Peter also is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on Coast to Coast AM, hosted by Mr. George Noory, on Friday night, June 1st, 2018, beginning at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific).  Peter will discuss several recently submitted cases.  We expect to update the site again on June 1st, and hope to be able to include some interesting photos. NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED MAY 18, 2018 Our website has been updated as of this date, with the posting of 39 new reports, submitted since the afternoon of Friday, May 10th, 2018, via our Online Report Form.  In addition, we have re-posted 21 older reports that have been amended or corrected, for one reason or another.  We have proofread all the reports to the best of our ability, but there is always the possibility that we may have missed a few items in the course of our scanning process.  Hence, we always encourage visitors to our website to maintain a constant vigil for errors in the reports, and to be on the lookout for either overt, or even subtle, hoaxes, which may have escaped our attention. McMENAMINS UFO FESTIVAL Peter Davenport will be away from our Center’s headquarters for the next several day, in order to attend the 19th Annual McMenamins UFO Festival in McMinnville, Oregon, during May 17-20, 2018.  It’s not too late to obtain weekend passes, and tickets to individual speakers’ presentations are almost always available.  Details about the conference can be found at www.ufofest.com.  It’s one of “friendliest” UFO conferences on the circuit, and its list of speakers is always “top flight.”  This years schedule of presenters is no exception.    UFO HOTLINE AND PRANK CALLS Our Hotline continues to be inundated with prank calls from young callers who appear to have little consideration for the welfare of others.  Given the uniformity of the seemingly scripted lines these rude callers use when they call, we presume that they are being guided and directed by the contents of a foolish video posted on YouTube, urging them to call various telephone number and make themselves as obnoxious as they possibly can.  We request that callers use our Hotline if, and only if, they sincerely believe they have been witness to an apparently genuine UFO.  Also, we urge parents and grandparents to supervise their children’s use of cell phones and the internet.  Thank you!! We have updated our website, as of this date, with the posting of 66 sighting reports, received by our Center since the afternoon of Friday, May 04th, 2018.  Although we have screened the reports as carefully as we are able to do, there is always the possibility that we may have overlooked a flawed report.  As a result, since flawed, and even hoaxed, reports are always a possibility, we encourage visitors to our site to be on the lookout for defective, or misleading, reports.  MADAR REPORTS Over the past several weeks, our Center has begun a co-operative arrangement with Mr. Francis Ridge, long-time UFO researcher, Director of the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (“NICAP”), and inventor of a UFO detection system, called “MADAR.”  The term, “MADAR,” is an acronym for “Multiple Anomaly Detection and Automated Recording.”  A MADAR unit is designed to detect magnetic anomalies that appear to be associated with the presence of UFOs. The purpose in posting the periodic detection events, recorded by approximately 25-30 MADAR units currently in operation around the world, is to address whether eyewitness sightings of suspected UFOs might be able to be corroborated by magnetic anomalies recorded by one, or more, MADAR unit(s).  More information about MADAR, and how it works, can be found at the MADAR website. A few of the recently posted NUFORC reports that caught our attention are the following: · Gainesville, Florida, Friday, November 24th, 2017, @ 8:14 p.m. (Eastern)—A grandmother, and her younger adult neighbor, witness a cluster of six red objects in the western sky.  The objects all suddenly extinguish at the same moment.  Witness Report   Photo at upper right. · Burbank, California, Saturday, May 05th, 2018, @ 7:32 p.m. (Pacific)—An adult male reports having witnessed a peculiar eight-sided, diamond-shaped, object pass overhead, and continue on a seemingly straight line, in the direction of the Burbank (California) International Airport, flying perpendicular to the flight paths of aircraft landing at, and taking off from, that airport.  The witness was able to capture two photos of the object.  Zoomed in view at right - arrow indicates object.  Witness Report · Warsaw, Poland, Tuesday, May 08th, 2018, @ 5:45 p.m. (Local)—An adult male reports briefly having witnessed a cigar-shaped object, which appeared to have no wings or empennage, and which appeared to him to be hovering motionless in the sky.  He briefly lost sight of the object for a few seconds behind a nearby house, during which time the object just disappeared. NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED ON APRIL 13th, 2018  We have updated our website, as of this date, with the posting of 62 new reports, submitted to our Center since the afternoon of Thursday, April 5th.  · We highlight below, of the reports, which for one reason or another, have attracted our attention: -Plano, Illinois, March 17, 2010, @11:32 a.m. (Central)—An adult male reports that as he was backing his vehicle out of his driveway, his attention was suddenly drawn to a very strange-looking, disc-shaped object, hovering motionless, to his left side of his car.  Within a few seconds, the witness realized that the object was something he was unable to identify, so he got out of his vehicle, in order to get a better look at it.  As he stood and watched the object, it began to approach his location, and it passed overhead, providing him with a very good view of the object’s ventral surface.  The witness had the impression that the object was in the process of “cloaking” its appearance. Witness Report · Cle Elum, Washington State, Wednesday, April 04th, 2018, @ 01:13 a.m. (Pacific)—A woman awakens in her bedroom and sees a seemingly mechanical, “spider-like” object moving across the ceiling of her bedroom.   Witness Report · Ft. Collins, Colorado, Sunday, April 08th, 2018, @ 01:30 a.m. (Mountain)—A young man asserts that while walking home through his neighborhood, he becomes aware of a bright white “star” in the night sky.  In very short order, the witness reports, the object descended to ground level, and its color changed from bright white, to red.  The object then ascended rapidly back up into the night sky.  The witness estimates that when the object was at its closest to his location, it appeared to him to be approximately the size of a basketball.  The next morning, a reddened area, or “scoop mark,” was evident on his right hand.  The origin of the wound was a mystery to the witness.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, NUFORC Director, is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on the Coast to Coast AM radio program, hosted by George Noory, tonight, April 13, 2018, at approximately 10:15 hrs. Our website was updated as of this date, with the posting to our database of sighting reports 58 new cases, submitted since Thursday, March 29th, 2018.  We always caution visitors to our site to be on the alert for flawed, or even bogus, reports, particularly among those which have been submitted by anonymous sources.  We attempt to label all the posted reports from individuals who elect to remain anonymous.  However, some of the other reports may contain misleading information, too, and we may not have been able to identify all potentially bogus reports. HIGHTLIGHTED CASES A few of the new reports captured our attention, and we summarize them below: · West Paris, Maine, Monday, April 2nd, 2018, @ 5:00 p.m. (Eastern)—An adult male was viewing deer in a nearby field, when he noticed a spherical object, estimated by the witness to have been approximately 16 inches in diameter, pass by him at high speed.  He witnessed the object for only seconds.  The witness seemed to us to be sincere and sober-minded.  Witness Report · Indian Ocean (500 miles from nearest land), Tuesday, April 03rd, 2018, @ 2:20 p.m. (local)—A merchant marine deckhand, standing watch, witnessed an odd object at approximately 15-20 degrees above the horizontal plane, in a cloudless blue sky.  The object appeared to have red and white blinking lights along its sides, and it suddenly disappeared from sight, and then re-appeared a second time.  The witness is an experienced mariner, and has stood watch on many occasions.  Witness Report · Albuquerque, New Mexico, Wednesday, April 04th, 2018, @ 7:08 a.m. (Mountain)—A young man, while driving to work, witnessed a rust colored, disc-shaped craft in the morning sky to the northwest of his location.  He estimates that the object may have been approximately 4 miles from his location, and he witnessed it for approximately 90 seconds.  Witness is former U. NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATE ON MARCH 29TH, 2018 The NUFORC website has been updated as of this date, with the posting of 70 sighting reports that have been either received, or revised, since our last update on Friday, March 23rd, 2018. Many of the posted reports have been submitted by sources who elect to remain totally anonymous, and/or who have provided no contact information with their reports.  Consequently, we always caution visitors to our website to be on the constant alert for potentially falsified reports.  We have attempted to label those reports that are from anonymous sources, as well as hose reports that, because of content, appear to our staff to address objects that probably are something other than authentic UFOs. A few of the reports that we believe to be of exception interest are the following: · North Bend, Washington, Sunday, March 11, 2018, @ 04:15 a.m. (Pacific)—An adult male and an adult passenger, who were driving eastbound on Interstate 90 toward North Bend, witnessed two, seemingly rectangular, very bright lights appear their vehicle in the passing lane.  Before the driver could move to a lane to a lane to the right, the lights suddenly seemed to simply disappear.  The highway was devoid of all other traffic.  Witness Report · Arizona (above; while in-flight), Monday, March 12, 2018, @ 4:05 p.m. (Mountain)—A husband and wife witness a strange looking object next to their aircraft, somewhere above Arizona.  The object appeared dark in color, and it appeared to the husband to be capable of changing its shape.  It appeared to move in “…an undulating fashion,…the way a snake slithers.”  The witnesses estimated that the object may have been within 100 feet of their aircraft.  After the plane had landed, two other passengers stated that they had seen the object, as well.  Witness Report · Nooksack, Washington, Monday, March 19, 2018, @ 3:30 p.m. (Pacific)—A young mother, and three of her children, witness three very highly reflective, metallic looking, objects, brightly illuminated, and highly contrasted against dark clouds.  The sighting lasted for approximately one minute.  Witness Report · Steubenville, Ohio, Monday, March 19, 2018, @ 8:37 p.m. (Eastern)—A mother and her two sons, while driving home from a shopping trip, witness a very large, dark, triangular-shaped craft with an intensely bright white light, in addition to a number of other smaller, “blue-white” lights positioned around the periphery of the craft.  The object appeared to move vertically, on at least three occasions, and then simply disappeared from the witnesses’ sight by descending into nearby trees.  Witness Report · Sunbury, Pennsylvania, Thursday, March 22nd, 2018, @ 9:15 p.m. (Eastern)—An adult male driver and his passenger suddenly become aware of the fact that their vehicle was being approached very rapidly by a bright light, that was directly ahead of them.  As the lights got closer, they split into two lights, and then split again into four lights, which “filled the sky” ahead of their vehicle.  Two of the lights appeared to execute a 90-degree turn and streak off, disappearing in the distance.  The other two lights suddenly did the same, following the path that the first two lights had taken. We have updated our homepage and database of sighting reports, as of March 8, 2018.  We have posted 59 new, and 7 newly revised, cases, all of which have been either received, or amended, since Friday afternoon, March 2nd, of last week. We highlight below a few of the reports which we believe are of particular interest: · Moody, Texas, ~December 23rd, 1949, @ ~07:30 a.m.—Three youngsters…a 7-year old boy, his 17-year old sister, and her 17-year old female classmate…were walking to school on a snowy morning, when they suddenly witnessed a silver-colored, disc-shaped craft, which was sitting on the ground in an empty lot.  The witness estimates the disc was approximately 40 in diameter, and 14 feet tall at its center, and it was sitting on a cylindrically shaped pedestal, approximately 3 feet in diameter.  The children then witnessed three humanoid creatures beneath the craft.  The source of the report is a retired medical professional, with multiple advanced degrees.  Witness Report · Algiers, Algeria, ~October 01st, 1991, @ ~2:00 p.m.—A mother and her 14-year old son, witness a disc-shape craft, seen hovering motionless in the daytime sky.  The disc had several different-colored lights, situated along the flange of the disc, and which began flashing a short time after the witnesses had begun first observing the craft.  After approximately five minutes, the object suddenly accelerated and disappeared from the witnesses’ view, in what seemed to be a fraction of a second. Witness Report  Illustration · Ontonagon, Michigan, Wednesday, February 28, 2017, @ 11:00 p.m. (Eastern)—An adult male, former military, was riding on his snowmobile, when he became aware of a bright source of light that was illuminating him from behind, and which illuminated quite brightly the area around him.  The witness stopped the engine on the snowmobile, at which time he noticed behind him an object that seemed to be totally silent, which appeared to be moving slowly up and down.  Although he was just a few minutes’ ride from his home, at the time of the sighting, he did not arrive there until two hours later, for which he had no explanation, and which had caused his wife a great deal of consternation. Witness Report · Charlotte, North Carolina, Saturday, March 3rd, 2018, @ 7:15 p.m. (Eastern)—A husband and wife observe 15-20 very bright orange lights, stretched out across the dark nighttime sky in a straight line, extending as far as the witnesses could see. Witness Report · Twin Falls, Idaho, Wednesday, March 6th, 2018, @ 9:15 p.m. (Mountain)—An adult truck driver, driving eastbound on Idaho Highway 74, witnesses a cluster of an estimated 14-15 bright, amber-colored lights, stretched out across the nighttime sky.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, NUFORC Director, is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on the Coast to Coast AM radio program, hosted by Mr. George Noory, on Thursday night, March 8th, 2018, at approximately 10:15 p.m..  Peter will briefly discuss the cases highlighted above, in addition to other sighting events.  NEW UFO TELEPHONE HOTLINE POLICY Because of a continuing problem with a large volume of prank calls being placed to our UFO Hotline by young callers, we have had to change our policies regarding how we answer incoming calls.  For the time being, unless we recognize, using “Caller ID,” the telephone number of an incoming call, we will not answer the call with a human operator, and will allow the call to go directly to our telephone messaging service.  If serious-minded callers would like a return call, we invite them to leave a responsible-sounding message, and we will return all legitimate calls as quickly as we are able to do.  In addition, we will not answer any incoming call which “Caller ID” indicates has been placed from a “Private Caller,” a “Private Number,” from an “Unknown Name,” or from a “spoofed,” i.e. synthetic, telephone number.  Instead, we will allow such incoming calls, again, to go directly to our answering service, from which frivolous calls will be deleted, before we place any return calls.  We apologize for any inconvenience this new policy may cause for responsible people attempting to contact our Center for legitimate purposes, but we have become fed up with ill-mannered young people who are using their telephones to inconvenience other people’s lives.  It leads us to conclude that parents should be monitoring closely their children’s use of cell telephones, just as they should carefully monitor their use of computers that are connected to the internet. We have updated our website, with the posting to our database of sighting report, of approximately 75 new reports, received since February 22nd, 2018.  We always recommend that visitors to our website be cautious, and discriminating, when reading the sighting reports, and in particular, when reading reports submitted by individuals who elect to remain anonymous, and/or who decide not to include their contact information.  This warning is particularly pertinent, at present, we believe, given the high volume of prank calls and reports that have been submitted to our Hotline over the past six months, typically by young people.  We suspect that some of those individuals may have submitted hoaxed written reports, as well, but we are unable to detect, and “flag,” all of them.  RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, Director of the National UFO Reporting Center, is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on the radio program, Coast to Coast AM, hosted by George Noory, on Friday night, March 2nd, 2018, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific).  Peter will discuss some of the more interesting cases that have arrived at our Center, over the past several weeks. FEBRUARY 22ND, 2018 We have updated the website, as of this date, with the posting of approximately 110 new, and recently revised, sighting reports.  We encourage visitors to our site to always be on the alert for errors and hoaxed reports, and in particular, with regard to those reports that have been submitted by parties who elect to remain anonymous.  We have attempt to label those reports that have been submitted by individuals who do not share their names or contact information together with their reports. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2018 We would like to apologize to all those individuals who regularly visit our website, and who have become accustomed to updates to the site on at least a weekly basis.  Due to some serious computer problems, combined with several days of out-of-town travel for live presentations, our last update was January 18, 2018.  We now have the computer problems resolved, so we should be back to our normal schedule of weekly updates of the website. With this update, we have posted 176 new, or newly revised reports.  Given the heavy volume of prank calls we are receiving over our Hotline, we suspect that there may well be a few written reports submitted via our Online Report Form that are attempts to hoax the readers.  Hence, we caution readers to be on the alert for reports that seem somewhat suspicious, and in particular, those reports that have been submitted by anonymous sources.  Given that we are updating tonight under a bit of time pressure, we have not included with this posting any photos, videos, or highlighted reports.  We will post again soon, at which time we will include some graphics, together with discussion of some of the more interesting recent sightings.  RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, Center Director, is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on Coast to Coast AM, hosted by George Noory, on Friday night, February 16, 2018, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific).  Peter will discuss several of the sighting reports that have been posted as of today’s update of the website. We always caution visitors to our website to be on the alert for flaws and pranks among the newly posted reports, and that warning may be particularly pertinent this week, given the large volume of sighting reports we have had to proof-read over the past week.  We cite below a few of the many cases that caught our attention, from among the approximately 400 new, and newly revised, sighting reports that we have posted this week: · Pasadena, California, Saturday, January 13, 2018, @ 12:45 p.m. (Pacific)—Seven observers witness a cluster of at least five tiny white objects that hovered almost motionless in a clear, cloudless sky, for approximately an hour.  High-quality video footage of the event accompanied the written report.  Our initial thought was that the objects might have been seagulls soaring in upwelling wind, but the objects do not appear to look, or behave, like birds.  Witness Report    Video · Carlsbad, California, Saturday, January 13, 2018, @ 2:30 p.m. (Pacific)—An adult male, who describes himself as an amateur astronomer, viewed at least three anomalous objects, which appeared to both hover, and maneuver, in the clear, cloudless sky.  The witness observed the objects with a set of 15 X 70 big binoculars, designed for astronomy.  Witness Report · Hollywood, Florida, Saturday, January 13, 2018, @ 8:00 p.m. (Eastern)—A adult male, who is currently a law enforcement officer, witnesses, and video-tapes, a cluster of peculiar “orbs,” which traveled from north to south.  NUFORC is attempting to determine what the wind direction and velocity were at the time of the sighting, in attempt to rule out the possibility that the lights may have been sky lanterns, or so-called “Chinese” lanterns.  Witness Report   Video Posted Thursday night, January 18, 2018. We still have approximately 280 sighting reports that have to be proof-read and edited before they can be posted, so we will limit this posting today to this brief statement for the NUFORC homepage.  We hope to have the accumulated sighting reports proof-read by tomorrow or Saturday, January 5th or 6th, and will post them, once the editing process is completed.  In the meantime, we post below a few reports that we consider to be unusually interesting: · Olive Branch, Mississippi, Tuesday, January 02nd, 2018, @ 6:38 a.m. (CST)—A husband and wife, while driving on Highway 78, witness two cylindrical objects pass across the face of an almost full Moon.  The husband is a very experienced pilot, with approximately 22,000 hours of flight time.  Here is the report submitted by the wife: BEGIN WITNESS STATEMENT:  “Two cylinder type objects or shadows traversing over full “wolf” moon Jan. 2, 2018. On Jan. 2, 2018, my husband (former airline pilot with 22,000 hours) and I were traveling on Lamar Ext. (Hwy. 78), coming out of Olive Branch, Mississippi to Memphis.  Just before the Tennessee line, I witnessed two cylindrical objects or shadows moving vertically over the face of a full wolf moon.  My husband viewed one, and I viewed both.  #2 was higher than #1.  He was driving and #2 was out of the bright face of the moon and could no longer be seen when he observed #1.  Once the objects or shadows were out of the bright face of the moon, they were no longer visible.  Other people viewed this I am sure.  If they did, I urge them to speak up.” · Rosamond, California, Tuesday, January 02nd, 2018, @ 10:20 a.m. (PST)—An adult male, driving to work on U. S. Highway 14 at approximately 10:20 a.m., witnesses a very shiny, bizarre-looking object that is approaching his vehicle at very high speed.  We copy below the text of his statement: BEGIN WITNESS STATEMENT:  “Object seen off of U.S. Highway 14  at low altitude moving north. January 2, 2018.  This report is being filed from Rosamond, California. Daylight conditions:  Partially cloudy.  Today, at 10:20 AM, while traveling south bound on U.S. Highway 14, approximately between Avenues D and E, an object was spotted at an estimated distance of ¼ mile above the highway.  First impressions were that it was a large bird, like a duck or sea gull.  As I kept my attention on the object, it became clear to me that it was not a bird, but perhaps an aircraft.  Seconds later, the object is now about two hundred feet ahead of my car, and moving alongside the highway about 150 feet parallel to the highway.  As the object flies by my right hand view moving straight with a speed less than my 65 MPH, I can now see that it’s an object about fifty feet in altitude. The object is chrome skinned, appearing smooth, and not a conventional aircraft.  I can only estimate that it’s an object about 20 feet in length with an equal height, in a pyramid shape.  No audible sound was heard from this object as it came at the closest position to my car.  Highway 14 was unusually heavy with traffic as many are now returning home from the holidays.  Others had to have seen this object.” We will update the NUFORC website again, within the next day or two, once the newly received reports have been edited.  We have updated the NUFORC website, as of this date, with the posting to our database of approximately 170 new, and newly revised, sighting reports.  The new reports are those that have been received at our Center since the afternoon of Thursday, December 14TH, 2017.  We always urge visitors to our site to be on the alert for flawed, or hoaxed, reports, particularly among those that have been submitted by individuals who elect to remain anonymous, and/or who provide no contact information with their reports.  HOLIDAY SCHEDULE Peter Davenport, Center Director, will be away from the Hotline for several days over Christmas.  However, he will make every attempt to monitor the answering service approximately once a day, or so, and will return any important messages left by individuals who seem to be both mature, and serious-minded.  If you believe that you have experienced a sighting of a UFO, we would be most grateful if you would please refrain from calling the Hotline to report the event.  Instead, we urge the witness to please submit a detailed, written account of the sighting, using our Online Report Form, found elsewhere on this website. PRANK CALLS If you are one of the many young people who are placing prank calls to our Hotline, we would request that you cease using our telephone lines for recreational purposes!!  The bulk of the calls we are now receiving over the Hotline are prank calls, and often obscene, and we are requesting that callers of all ages not use our Hotline for frivolous purposes.  These nuisance calls have become an extreme inconvenience to the people who run the UFO Center, and they are interfering with our ability to provide an important service to people who wish to submit serious reports to our facility.  Several of the recent reports have caught our attention, and we feature them below: Pocatello, Idaho, June 24th, 2002, @ 8:00 p.m.—A very experienced pilot witnessed a strange-looking object pass below his aircraft at high speed.  The object looked generally like the Space Shuttle, with no prominent wings, and appeared to the witness to be hugging the contour of the mountainous region below.  It quickly disappeared from sight, within 15 seconds of the pilot’s first sighting of it.  Witness Report Albuquerque/Santa Fe (Waldo Canyon), New Mexico, December 14, 2017, @ 7:00 p.m.—A husband and wife were driving home to Santa Fe, when they both witnessed a triangular-shaped craft pass across the highway in front of their vehicle.  They agreed that the edges of the craft were lined with distinctly green lights, and they estimated that it was moving at approximately 100 miles per hour.  The wife has provided a nice illustration of the peculiar object.  Witness Report U. S. AIR FORCE ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT DECEMBER 09TH EVENT OVER THE U.S. For the past 12 days, NUFORC has received reports of an event that occurred across the U. S. on Saturday night, December 09th, 2017.  Our initial reaction to the reports was that they addressed a very unusual event, possibly UFO-related, although the U. S. Air Force has asserted that the sightings were of a flight of military aircraft involved in a large-scale nighttime training operation.  In the interest of sharing accurate, and complete, information with visitors to our website, here is the recent USAF statement.  However, given what we continue to believe are facts that, on the face of them, appear to contravene the Air Force explanation, we intend to continue both collecting reports, and investigating some of the peculiar aspects of the large-scale event.  There are many elements of the apparent military exercise that simply do not seem to correlate with what many eyewitnesses have reported to our Center. Many such reports appear to be high-quality, and probably are reliable, but some are suspect, in our opinion, so please be on the alert as you read them. UPDATE ON THE EVENTS OF SATURDAY NIGHT, DECEMBER 09, 2017 We hurriedly updated the NUFORC website on Sunday, December 10th, in order to bring to the attention of the public the seemingly quite dramatic, and mysterious, event that appears to have taken place above, and across, the U. S. on Saturday night, December 09th, 2017. For the preliminary details about that event, please see that earlier posting below, which was written on Sunday afternoon, the day after the event had occurred, and before we had developed a good understanding of what had taken place. Since that posting, we have received a number of very high-quality reports, together with links to video footage, which we post below: · Footage from Denver, Colorado, Saturday night, reported by Channel 9 News (CBS). · Dillon, Montana, Saturday, December 09, 2017 @ 8:05 p.m. (Mountain)—A mother, together with grown daughter and son, witnessed a peculiar cluster of red flashing lights move across the northern sky. They estimated they witness the formation of one large object, surrounded by smaller red lights. Witness Report · Laurel, Montana, Saturday, December 09, 2017 @ 8:45 p.m. (Mountain): Three family members report having witnessed an estimated twenty red lights in a linear formation across the night sky. The objects reportedly appeared sequentially, one at a time, until all twenty, or so, of the objects were visible. The cluster of objects was first seen traveling west to east in the northern sky, and it then allegedly was seen to turn to the south. Video Witness Report There are many other reports for the night of Saturday, December 09, 2017, which we urge visitors to read. · Rosarito Beach, Baja California, Mexico, Tuesday, December 12, 2017 @ ~8:30 p.m.—A young woman witnesses a line of four orange/red lights, hovering in a horizontal line, blinking sequentially, and captures the photo below. The witness estimates that they must have been close to a fishing vessel, that appeared to her to pass underneath, or very close to, the lights.Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, Director of NUFORC, is scheduled to appear on the radio program, Coast to Coast AM, hosted by George Noory, on Thursday night, December 14, 2017, at approximately 10:15 p.m. Peter will discuss those reports above, and several others. We will post again soon, hopefully with more video and illustrations of the December 09th event, as well as of other recent sighting events. Posted Thursday evening, December 14, 2017. On Saturday afternoon, at approximately 4:47 p.m. (Pacific), our Center began to receive the first of what ultimately turned out to be a large number of written and telephoned reports from across the U. S..  Most of the witnesses described allegedly having witnessed one, or more, large clusters of red lights, seen passing through the night sky at what most people described as a slow rate.  No witnesses reported seeing green lights, which would have been expected, had the objects been any type of conventional aircraft. Reports were received, in rapid sequence from the following states, in the approximate order in which they appear:  Florida (?); South Carolina; Illinois; Missouri; Kansas; Colorado; Utah; Wyoming; Montana; Idaho; Washington (?); and California.  Other reports are still arriving at our Center, so we suspect that the objects may have been seen in other states, as well.  One report was submitted from the U.K., and we are attempting to contact that source, in order to confirm that the report is sincere. We hope to have all of the written reports posted to our website this afternoon, although our webmaster and his wife, who live in the Montecito area of Santa Barbara, California, are under alert to have to abandon their house, if the fires there get closer to them, so it may be a while before we can post all of the reports we’ve received, to date, that pertain to the sightings on the night of December 09th.  We will update the database, with all the new reported sightings, as soon as we can. However, we would like to encourage everyone who may have witnessed those clusters of lights to prepare a detailed statement about their sighting(s), and submit it, using the Online Report Form on our website, www.ufocenter.com.  We would like the witness to include where he or she was located, what direction the witnesses were looking, how big the lights appeared to be, how big the cluster of lights appeared to be, how fast the objects were moving across the sky, and all other details that would allow another person to understand clearly what the event looked like.  Please bear in mind that the more information included in the report, the easier it will be for another person to understand what the event looked like.  We look forward to your written report!! Posted on Sunday afternoon, December 10th, 2017 We have updated our database again this week, with the posting of 45 new and recently revised reports on Friday, December 08, 2017.  Most of the reports have been received since the afternoon of Monday, December 04th.  We encourage visitors to our site to be on the alert for possible hoaxes, and other flaws in the reports, as they read through them.  One recent report that captured our attention, even though it addresses an incident that occurred more than two decades ago, is the following: · Phoenix, Arizona, Thursday, March 13, 1997, @ 8:15 p.m. (Mountain)—A woman, who describes herself as a retired medical professional, witnessed one of the five (?) huge objects that were seen over Phoenix during the so-called “Phoenix Lights” incident.  She delayed in submitting her report, principally out of concern for the adverse effect her going public might have on her employment.  The description of the size of the object coincides with many other estimates of the estimated sizes of the objects that passed over the general Phoenix area, during that dramatic event.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport is scheduled to appear on the Coast to Coast AM radio program, hosted by George Noory, on Friday night, December 08th, 2017, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific).  Peter will discuss a few of the reports that have been posted to our database of sighting reports this afternoon. We have posted 194 new, or newly amended, reports, to our homepage, as of this date, Monday, December 04th, 2017.  Given the high volume of prank telephone calls we are receiving over our telephone Hotline, we suspect that some of the written reports we have posted may be attempts to hoax anyone who reads them, so we urge visitors to our website to be discriminating when they read those posted sighting reports. NUISANCE TELEPHONE CALLS On, or about, August 26th, 2017, our Center began receiving a substantial volume of prank telephone calls over its Hotline, sometimes hundreds per day, principally from rude, inconsiderate, and often foul-mouthed young callers.  Although the volume of calls has subsided to a small degree, the problem still continues, and it has compelled us to alter the manner in which we use the UFO Hotline.  Within the next several days, we will post to our homepage guidelines regarding the use of the Hotline, so that sincere callers will know what to expect when they telephone our Center.  We apologize in advance to those serious-minded callers who may feel inconvenienced by our new guidelines, but we feel we have little choice in the matter.  We simply do not have the ability to handle all the frivolous calls that are being made by the inconsiderate young people who are allowing themselves to be guided by a foolish, and misdirected, video posted to YouTube. A couple of reports that have captured our attention appear below:  · Jacksonville, Florida, Thursday, November 30th, 2017, @ 5:57 p.m. (EST)—An adult male, who describes himself as an experienced sky watcher, alleges to have witnessed a peculiar “five-pointed star” pass very rapidly across the disc of the Moon, as he is viewing it through his refractor telescope.   Witness Report · Stanley, New Mexico, Thursday, November 30th, 2017, @ 6:25 p.m. (MST)—An adult female, while driving south on Highway 41 in the city limits of Stanley, NM, witnessed a bright red light approach rapidly from her right, and pass almost directly overhead.  She believed that if the object had been an aircraft, it would have been illuminated to the degree that she should have been able to see its outline, but she did not see anything but the light.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, NUFORC Director, is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on the Coast to Coast AM radio program, hosted by Mr. George Noory, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific) on Friday night, December 8th, 2017.  Peter will discuss some of the reports that have been submitted to NUFORC recently. We highlight below a few reports that caught our attention, and which we believe have been submitted by serious-minded witnesses: · Florence, Oregon, Wednesday, November 16, 2017, @ 8:45 p.m. (Pacific)—A husband and wife, while driving north on the Oregon coastal highway, witness a brightly lighted, disc-shaped craft, that appeared to be hovering over the ocean, not too far from the cliffs near Seal Caves.  Wife’s Report   Husband’s Report · Los Angeles, California, Tuesday, November 21, 2017, @ 2:00 p.m. (Pacific)—An adult female witnesses six, white objects drifting across the sky above Los Angeles.  She captures a photo of the cluster of objects, which stretched across the daytime sky. Witness Report   Photo NEW HOTLINE POLICY Because of a continuing deluge of prank calls that are being submitted to the NUFORC Hotline, we have had to curtail answering our telephone on a live, or real-time, basis, until the frivolous calls cease.  If a serious-minded caller wishes to leave a message on the Hotline answering service, he or she is invited to do so, and we will attempt to return the call as quickly as we are able to do so.  All other calls are deleted, and are not responded to. The newly posted reports have been proof-read by us, but we were under time pressure at the time, so there may well be mistakes, oversights, and overt hoaxes among the new reports, which escaped our attention.  Hence, please be remain skeptical as you read the reports. Here are a few of the reports that caught our attention:  · Sacramento, California, Tuesday, November 14, 2017, @ 8:00 p.m. (Pacific)—A husband, wife, and their children all witnessed two orange lights in the night sky, which suddenly just disappeared from their sight.  Approximately ten minutes later, the family witnessed an estimated 18-20 similar lights appear in the same area of the sky.  Witness Report · Dewey, Arizona, Wednesday, November 15, 2017, @ 9:00 p.m. (Mountain)—A gentleman who describes himself as a retired engineer, reports witnessing the sudden appearance of three “chevron” shaped objects, each bearing individual marker lights, suddenly appeared in the night sky.  The objects’ apparent width was approximately the diameter of a full Moon, and each “chevron” exhibited its own individual “marker” lights.  The objects simply appeared out of nowhere, one after the other, and then disappeared instantly, in a similar manner.  Witness Report · Dayton, Ohio, Wednesday, November 15, 2017, @ 10:00 p.m. (Eastern)—An adult male reports allegedly having witnessed a “boomerang” shaped object pass slowly overhead.  The witness reports that there were individual lights on the ventral surface of the object. Witness Report Posted Friday night, November 17, 2017.  The NUFORC website has been updated, as of this date, November 09th, 2017, with the posting of 78 recently received sighting reports, submitted since the afternoon of Friday, November 03rd, 2017 Given the high volume of prank telephone calls that are being placed to our telephone Hotline, we suspect that the same phenomenon may be spilling over to our Online Report Form.  Consequently, we feel duty-bound to caution visitors to our site from accepting everything that is posted there, suspecting that some of the reports, particularly those from anonymous sources, may be attempts to slip hoaxed reports and pranks past our editing process.  Those reports from anonymous sources have been labeled. We feature below a few of the reports that we believe deserve special attention: · Glendale, Arizona, Saturday, November 04, 2017, @ 9:20 p.m. (MDT)—Two adult witnesses report having witnessed an estimated 7 large circular lights move slowly to the east across the nighttime sky.  Witness Report · Madison, Wisconsin, Tuesday, November 07, 2017, @ 7:35 p.m. (Central)—An adult male, who describes himself as former military, witnessed a dark-colored triangle-, or boomerang-shaped, object fly rapidly overhead in the night sky, exhibiting no navigation lights.  Immediately after the object had passed overhead, a smaller object streaked overhead, apparently in pursuit of the triangular craft.  The whole incident occurred in an estimated 5 seconds.  Posted on Thursday evening, November 09, 2017.  We have updated our website, as of this date, Friday, November 03rd, 2017, with the posting of 222 new reports, received since the afternoon of October 19th.  In addition, we have included in the posting 19 reports that have been revised, since their original posting. All of the new reports have been proof-read by us before this posting, but we have not had the time this week to read them as carefully as we traditionally like to do.  As a result, we suspect that there are many reports that have flaws in them, particularly with regard to the time and date of the reported incidents.  In addition, some of the reports may be overt attempts to hoax us, and the visitors to our website, so we encourage those individuals who read the reports to be on the alert for errors in the reports.    Some of the new reports that caught our attention are the following: · Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Saturday, October 21st, 2017, @ 9:31 p.m. (Eastern)—A father and his 20+ year old son were driving west on Interstate 40, near Bermuda Run, when they both witnessed a very bizarre lime green, chevron-shaped, craft ahead of their vehicle.  The object appeared to have its nose pointed up at an approximate angle of 30 degrees.  The father is retired senior officer in the U. S. Air Force.  Witness Report · Atlanta (in-flight), Georgia, Thursday, October 26, 2017, @ 11:30 a.m. (Eastern)—A current member of the U. S. military, whose specialty is U. S. military aircraft, reports having witnessed a peculiar looking craft that he estimated may have been within a thousand vertical feet of the commercial aircraft on which the witness was a passenger.  He later surmises that the object may have been a “Phantom Ray” drone, manufactured by the Boeing Company. Witness Report Posted Friday afternoon, November 03, 2017.  The NUFORC website, together with its database of reports, has been updated, as of this date, with the posting of approximately 274 new, or newly revised, sighting reports, most of which have been received since the afternoon of Thursday, October 5th, 2017.  We always caution visitors to our website, when reading the submitted sighting reports, to be on the alert for errors, as well as hoaxes, which have slipped through our system of editing and proof-reading.  We try our best, but we are unable to catch all errors, and there appear to be people who derive pleasure from trying to slip non-serious reports into the stream of data that we make available to the public. We feature below two reports which were discussed last Friday night, October 13, 2017, by Peter Davenport on the radio program, Coast to Coast AM, which appear to address alleged sightings of possible alien creatures.  Obviously, we cannot certify that the reports are authentic, although we have elected to feature them on our homepage, given that we spoke via telephone with the witnesses who submitted both reports, and we were impressed by their apparent sincerity in describing their respective sightings.  · Nageezi, New Mexico, Friday, August 25th, 2017, @ 8:30 p.m. (Mountain)—A husband and wife report that while driving their motorhome south of Nageezi, they witnessed a “bubble shaped,” transparent craft that moved across the highway in front of their vehicle.  They assert in their reports that there were two alien-looking creatures seated in the object, the interior of which appeared to be illuminated with intensely bright light.  Husband’s Report   Wife’s Report · Casper, Wyoming, Wednesday, October 04th, 2017, @ 2:30 a.m. (Mountain)—A professional truck driver reports having witnessed a bizarre, gray-looking creature standing beside Interstate 25, approximately 15 miles east of Casper, Wyoming.  As the driver passed the creature, the latter appeared to stand upright, and raise one arm over its head.  Even though the sighting was brief, the witness felt that he was able to see the creature in sufficient detail to be able to describe it accurately.  The witness estimated that the creature was approximately 7 feet tall.  Witness Report We have received some good photos and illustrations recently, which we will attempt to post during the upcoming weekend. HOMEPAGE UPDATED ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON, OCTOBER 05TH, 2017 The NUFORC website has been updated, as of October 05, 2017, with the posting of 141 new, or newly revised, sighting reports, most of them submitted since the afternoon of September 28th.  Among the newly posted material are quite a number of reports that have been submitted by sources who elect to remain totally anonymous, and who provide either no, or minimal, contact material.  That type of report is often, but not always, of suspect reliability, so we urge visitors to our website, as they read through the reports, to remain skeptical about some of them. RADIO APPEARANCES Peter Davenport, Director of NUFORC, is scheduled to appear for 30 minutes on the Timothy W. Beckley radio program at 7:00 p.m. (Pacific Daylight Time), Thursday, October 05th, 2017.  Peter will talk about the history of the National UFO Reporting Center, and several of the more dramatic sighting reports he has covered, during the 23-year tenure as Director.  The program may be accessible from the following website:  https://www.youtube.com/user/MRUFO1100   Peter will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by Mr. Grant Cameron, celebrated UFO investigator, who specializes in several aspects of the UFO phenomenon, to include the relationship of UFOs to several U. S. Presidential administrations. Peter will appear again on October 5th on the Coast to Coast AM radio program, hosted by George Noory.  He is scheduled to make his weekly appearance at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific), and will discuss several recent sightings of suspected UFOs. This posting is being made under mild time pressure, so we will dispense with links to reports and illustrations.  We will attempt to post a few items during the upcoming weekend. The NUFORC website was updated twice during the past week, with postings on Thursday, September 21st, and then a week later, on September 28th, 2017.  We have posted approximately 240 reports, collected, in aggregate, since September 14th.  Given that our center continues to be inundated with prank telephone calls over its Hotline, we assume that some of the same people who are placing those nuisance calls may be submitting hoaxed written reports, as well.  Hence, we encourage visitors to our website to be discriminating in reading the reports in our database of sightings, and believing everything written there at face value. REPORTS OF CLUSTERS OF “ORBS” AND “FIREBALLS” In May 2012, our Center, and other UFO organizations, as well, began receiving large numbers of reports of red, orange, or yellow “orbs,” or “fireballs.”  This phenomenon has continued over the past five years, and seems not to have abated in the least during that time.  The date of this posting, September 28th, marks the fourth anniversary of what our staff considers to have been one of the most dramatic such sightings, which was reported to our Center by a retired Arizona Highway Patrol, who resides in Glendale, AZ, a suburb on the northwest corner of Phoenix, AZ.  In order to underscore the unusual nature of the reports of “fireballs,” we revisit that case here: · Glendale, Arizona, Saturday, September 28, 2013, @ 7:15 p.m. (Mountain)—A former Arizona Highway Patrol officer describes his shock in witnessing an orange “orb” of light, that streaks from west to east in the northern sky.  He quickly walks out to a porch on the northern side of the house, hoping to get a final glimpse of the peculiar object, as it disappeared to the east.  Over the next several minutes, he witnessed another approximately 150 similar objects, which he estimated moved across the sky at approximately 150-200 miles per hour.  Witness Report NUFORC has received many thousands of similar reports, over the past five years, as exemplified by the case that follows: · New Holly, North Carolina, Sunday, September 24th, 2017, @ 8:45 p.m. (Eastern)—A husband and wife, while driving from Lake Norman to New Holly, NC, witness a cluster of five yellow lights nearby in the night sky.  The couple apparently experienced electromagnetic effects with at least one cell phone, and other vehicles they encountered nearby may have been similarly affected, according to the witnesses.  Witness Report    Map and Drawing · Canton, Georgia, Wednesday, September 27th, 2017, @ 8:42 a.m. (Eastern)—An adult male, standing on his daughter’s roof to assess recent wind damage, sees two highly reflective objects in the clear, cloudless sky.  He manages to obtain a low-quality photograph of the two objects and also provided the drawing shown.  Another adult male witnesses the same event, but from ground level.  The two witnesses agreed that objects appeared to be quadrilateral in shape, and were highly reflective.  The objects simply disappeared from the witnesses’ sight, as they watched them. A few reports that captured our attention this week are shown below: · Kalamazoo, Michigan, Tuesday, @ 7:05 p.m. (Eastern)—An adult male, while walking at a local college campus, witnesses an “acorn-shaped” object in the distant sky.  Witness Report · Charlotte, North Carolina, Wednesday, @ 6:12 a.m. (Eastern)—A mother and son witness a “triangle” of orange lights in the morning sky.  The mother reports that it is the second time they have witnessed such an object, over recent months.  Witness Report · Charlestown, Rhode Island, Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. (Pacific)—As adult male, while relaxing on an ocean beach, witnesses several objects that look somewhat like swept-wing aircraft, but they seemed to the witness to be very unusual.  Witness Report · Kearney, Nebraska, Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at 11:30 p.m. (Central)—Telephoned Report:  A husband and wife report witnessing a “phalanx-shaped” cluster of star-like lights pass overhead in rapid flight.  The husband reports that the individual lights looked like stars, although they appeared to be oriented in a symmetrical formation, and that the object appeared similar to the delta-shaped craft that appeared over Phoenix, Arizona, on March 13, 1997.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, NUFORC Director, is scheduled to appear on the Coast to Coast AM radio program, hosted by George Noory, on Thursday night, September 14, 2017, at approximately 10:15 p.m..  Peter will discuss the reports highlighted above, as well as others.  Posted on Thursday afternoon, September 14, 2017.  updates its website, and database of sighting reports, on Thursdays or Fridays, we have accelerated that schedule this week because of Peter Davenport’s scheduled appearance tonight as a guest on the internet based Coast to Coast “Insider” program.  We thought it would be helpful to the program’s subscribers to have the latest reports posted, in order to invite comments about recent sightings and events.  The program begins at 8:00 p.m. (Pacific) on Tuesday night, September 12, 2017, and Coast to Coast AM host, George Noory, will field questions during the first half hour, followed by Peter during the second half of the program.  We highlight below a few recent reports: · Monroe, Michigan, Saturday, September 09th, 2017, @ 10:30 p.m. (Eastern)—An adult male observer witnessed an estimated 8-12 unidentified red “orbs” drift across the nighttime sky.  Witness provides a high-quality illustration of the event.  NOTE:  NUFORC has chosen to highlight this case, principally because it is so similar to many other similar cases, involving the sighting of clusters of red, orange, or yellow “fireballs,” or “orbs.”  This type of sighting appears to have increased in frequency, beginning sometime during the month of May 2012, and it has continued unabated.  Witness Report · Tinley Park, Illinois, Saturday, July 30, 2016, @ 21:00 hrs. (Central)—An adult female reports having witnessed an estimated 25 to 35 “red-orange” self-luminous objects pass slowly overhead.  Witness Report  NOTE:  Tinley Park, and nearby Orland Park, Illinois, were the site of similar sightings on August 21st, and October 31st, 2004.  We expect to post again on Thursday, September 14, and will include a few other photos that have been submitted to NUFORC, in the recent past. Over the past three days, we have updated our website on two occasions, with the posting, in aggregate, of approximately 200 new, and recently amended, reports, received since our last posting on August 24th.   This September 8th posting will be abbreviated, given that we are a bit pressed for time at the time of this update, but we will post again within the next several days, in order to include photographs we’ve received recently, as well as to highlight several very nice reports that have captured our attention. We always issue a warning to visitors to be on the lookout for flawed or prank reports, and that warning is particularly pertinent in this posting, given the statement which follows below.  We suspect that many of the people who have submitted prank calls to our Hotline probably have also submitted pranked reports.   LARGE VOLUME OF PRANK CALLS TO OUR HOTLINE – YOU CAN HELP! Beginning on Saturday, August 26th, our Center began receiving a large volume of overtly pranked calls over its Hotline, as many as 100-150 per day!  What immediately caught our attention was the fact that virtually all of the calls were being placed by young children, as young, we estimate, as perhaps 8 years of age, and as old as perhaps 13 or 14 year.  Moreover, what we find equally noteworthy was the fact that all of the prank calls are virtually the same, as if the children were being coached on how to conduct themselves during the their respective calls to the Hotline.  When they call, for example, the young callers often say nothing, simply hanging on the telephone, while remaining totally mute.  In the rare occasions when they actually speak during their call, they usually use a pseudonym, or babel some mishmash of unintelligible nonsense.  In addition, they are generally evasive, and when queried as to where they had learned of our website, they studiously avoid responding, again, remaining mute.  The calls are almost “cookie cutter” like, which we find to be both noteworthy, and unsettling. After some investigation, we have discovered that the problem appears to be the result of a video posted to YouTube, inviting its many young followers to harass our Center with prank calls: Many of our friends have expressed their displeasure with the offending posted video by voting to have it removed from YouTube’s website.  We invite anyone who would like to assist us in this effort to cast their vote for removal of the offending website by casting their vote via the process created by YouTube site for just such a circumstance, and which we outline below:  The video is here.  When you get to the page, press the icons shown below to down vote the video and report it as abusive.   Thank you! Posted at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening, September 08, 2017.  We have updated our website, as of this date, with the posting of 117 new, and newly revised, sighting reports.  As we do with every update, we encourage visitors to our site to be on the alert for flawed, or hoaxed reports, among not only the new reports, but among those that have been posted to our site for some time. SOLAR ECLIPSE AND UFO SIGHTINGS For some reason that escapes our understanding, some people believe that there is an above-average likelihood of experiencing a UFO sighting during an eclipse, either solar or lunar, than there is at any other time of day or night.  Our Center fails to see any objective evidence to support this claim, and the recent solar eclipse that occurred on August 21st, 2017, seems to provide support for our belief.  People may, in fact experience what they believe was a sighting of a UFO during an eclipse, but the reports submitted to NUFORC for events that occurred during the recent eclipse suggest to use that they are no more likely to occur than they are at any other time.  Our Center received 20 reports for August 21st, 2017, a few of which appeared to have occurred at times when the local solar disc was in some degree of eclipse, but most of the reports appear to us to involve photographic “lens flares,” captured when people pointed their cameras directly at the Sun.  Obviously, such photographic “ghost” images have nothing to do with legitimate sightings of authentic UFOs. NOTEWORTHY CASES As is usually the case with each posting of new reports, a few have captured our attention, with this update.  We share a few below: · Bemow Piskie, Poland, July 22nd, 2017, @ 21:15 hrs. (local)—A U. S. Army Scout, providing support with a Stryker vehicle for a live-fire military exercise near a military reserve, witnesses a very brightly luminous object with his night vision devices.  However, the object was not visible with the naked eye, even though the witness felt that it certainly should have been.  Witness Report · Treasure Island, Florida, Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017, @ 21:45 hrs. (Eastern)—A group of at least five witnesses observe, over the course of more than half an hour a group of different colored lights, seen above the ocean.  The lights seemed to alter their positions, even radically, and they also seemed capable of positioning themselves, relative to one another.  Witness Report RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, Center Director, is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on the Coast to Coast AM radio program, hosted by Mr. George Noory, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Thursday, August 24, 2017.  Peter will discuss several of the more interesting sighting reports that have been posted, as of this date. Some of the reports that caught our attention, and which we feel are of particular interest are the following: · Milton, Florida, September 15, 2009 (est.), @ 14:30 hrs. (EDT) - Three adult witnesses, while out camping, observe a metallic-looking disc “glide” along a nearby roadway.  They estimated that the disc was 25-30 feet in diameter, and as it moved along the tops of nearby trees, it  was not more than approximately 200 feet from the witnesses.  Witness Report   The witness provided the drawing to the right. · Ft. Mill, South Carolina, Friday, August 11, 2017 @ 22:57 hrs. (EDT) - Two adult observers witness, and video tape, a cluster of nine yellow lights, seen moving across the night sky. Witness Report   Video · Becket, Massachusetts, Wednesday, August 16, 2017, @ 22:20 hrs. (EDT) - Two on-duty police officers report witnessing a cluster of blue-green “orbs,” moving across the sky, and maneuvering relative to one another. Posted on Thursday afternoon, August 17 2017.  We have posted 144 recently submitted, or recently revised, sighting reports to our database of cases, as of the afternoon of this date.  We have proof-read the reports as carefully as our time allows, but there is always the likelihood that we have overlooked errors in the reports.  With every posting, we are in the habit of encouraging visitors to our website to be on the alert for reports that appear to address something other than apparent UFO-related incidents.  As we comb through the reports, we are constantly on the look-out for incidents related to reflections of the Sun from “Iridium” satellites; overflights of the International Space Station (“ISS”), and of other satellites; missile launches from Florida, California, and Virginia; sightings of stars and planets, etc., and we detect many of those types of incidents, but usually not all of them.  Hence, as visitors read through the reports, we encourage them to always be skeptical, and to be alert for flawed reports, including possible hoaxes.  In particular, be skeptical of those reports from individuals who elect to remain anonymous.  If you discover what you believe may be a defective or misleading report, please send a notification to director@ufocenter.com, and we will review the situation, at our earliest convenience. NOTEWORTHY REPORTS The new “crop” of reports include several that have attracted our attention, and we feature several of them below: · Montreal, Canada, Saturday, July 22nd, 2017, @ 10:15 p.m. (Eastern) [Case revisited]—We featured this report on our homepage in our July 27 posting, but we do so again, to include an illustration we have received since the first posting.  Witness Report   Illustration shown at right. · Western Washington, Spokane, and Idaho, Saturday, July 29, @ 9:58 p.m. (Pacific)—A very dramatic object streaked above Puget Sound, heading from south to north, and is reported to have covered an estimated 140-150 degrees of the sky in 7-8 seconds.  The report from a commercial pilot, who was driving in Yelm, Washington, with his wife is one of the more convincing reports, we find. Witness Report    Please see other reports for the same time and date. · Oakesdale/Steptoe Butte (Whitman County), Washington, Wednesday, August 02nd, 2017, @ 11:45 p.m. (Pacific)—A father and son witness together a very large cluster of perhaps two dozen unidentified lights in the western sky.  The display seemed to give off a “thrumming” sound, as they moved slowly to the north. Son’s Report    Father’s Report · Lincoln, Washington, Wednesday, August 02nd, 2017, @ 11:55 p.m. (Pacific)—Three members of a family report witnessing a very large display of lights, which appeared to move from the south to the north in the western sky, above the Columbia River. DATABASE OF SIGHTING REPORTS UPDATED ON JULY 14TH, 23RD, AND 27TH Although we haven’t posted statements to our homepage since July 7th, we have kept the database of incoming UFO sighting reports current over the past three weeks, with updates on both July 14th and July 23rd, 2017.  The update today makes the most recent sighting reports available.  We have devoted a great deal of time to the proof-reading and amending many of the recent reports, in order to make them more understandable than they would have been in their original form.  Although we have attempted, during that process, to correct obvious errors, and eliminate obviously hoaxed reports, we suspect that our “filter” has not detected all flawed reports.  Hence, we urge all visitors to our site, as they read through the reports, to be on the alert for what appear to be errors.  Those reports that deserve special attention, we feel, are those from sources who elect to remain anonymous, and/or who elect to provide no contact information.  Also, we suspect that some of the reports that address a single source of light, passing generally from the western sky to the east may be the result of a sighting of the International Space Station.  We simply have not had sufficient time, leading up to today’s posting, to check all of those suspicious reports against www.Heavens-Above.com, the authoritative website on the overflight schedule of the ISS, and of other major satellites.  Notable recent sightings, which caught our attention, are the following: · Montreal, Canada, Saturday, July 22nd, 2017 @ 10:15 p.m. (local)—Three adults had gathered on the penthouse of a condominium to watch a fireworks display.  Their attention was attracted by what seemed to them to be an unusual cluster of clouds directly overhead.  Equally quickly, the attention of the three witnesses was drawn to a wedge-shaped object, with unblinking emerald green lights that ran along the ventral surface of the “arms” of the object, which appeared to be hovering motionless in the clouds.  After a short period of time, the object simply faded from the witnesses’ view.  The individual who submitted the report describes himself as holding an advanced degree in an esoteric branch of physics.  Witness Report · Tacoma, Washington, Tuesday, July 25th, 2017 @ 10:04 p.m. (Pacific)—An adult male reports having witnessed a strange-looking object, which looked to him to be two triangular objects attached to one another, which appeared to be “swimming through the sky.”  The object suddenly appeared to change its trajectory through the sky, and seemed to suddenly descend vertically. Posted on Thursday afternoon, July 27, 2017.  The NUFORC website has been updated as of Friday, July 07, 2017, with the posting of 267 new sighting reports, received by our Center since the afternoon of Thursday, June 22nd, 2017.  Our staff has proof-read the reports as carefully as possible, but we always caution visitors to our site to be on the lookout for flawed, or hoaxed, reports, as they read through the reports,.  If you find a report that you believe contains an error, please call it to our attention by sending an e-mail to director@ufocenter.com, and we will look into the issue at our earliest convenience. CORRECTION During his last weekly appearance on Coast to Coast radio program on Friday, June 30th, 2017, Peter Davenport, Director of NUFORC, commented about a number of reports about a seemingly dramatic aerial event that had occurred on the East Coast of the U. S. at approximately 4:30 a.m. (EDT) on Thursday morning, June 29th.  Shortly after that broadcast, it was brought to our attention that a rocket had been launched from the Wallops Island (Virginia) Flight Facility at the time, and on the date, cited by witnesses, and that the launch was an experiment, designed to release large clouds of colorful materials into the atmosphere.  The event had nothing to do with the UFO phenomenon, and we apologize for possibly leading people to believe that the event might have been UFO related.  Here is a link to the webpage which discusses the launch, and where the statement below appears regarding the June 29 launch:  ((BEGIN PUBLISHED STATEMENT)) Past Launches Ampoule Test June 29, 2017 4:25 a.m. EDT suborbital Terrier-Improved Malemute successful During the flight of a two-stage Terrier-Improved Malemute sounding rocket, ten canisters about the size of a one-liter drink bottle will be deployed to 6 to 12 miles from the 670-pound main payload. Between approximately 3.5 and 5 minutes after launch, blue-green and red vapor will be deployed from the canisters forming artificial clouds. These clouds or vapor tracers allow scientists on the ground to visually track the winds in space. The development of the canister or ampoule ejection system will allow scientists to gather information over a much larger or spatial area than previously allowed when deploying the vapor just from the main payload.  ((END PUBLISHED STATEMENT)) To the right are two photos that we believe are of the launch, and which were forwarded to NUFORC from witnesses in Staunton, Virginia and Massapequa, New York.  SIGHTINGS ON JULY 4TH, 2017 Over the past several years, and perhaps going back to as far as 1997, NUFORC has noted that there is a peak of sightings during fireworks displays, which appear to be distinctly unrelated to the fireworks themselves.  A quick survey of sighting reports for Independence Day fireworks displays for past several years will support that statement, we believe, and sightings on July 4th of 2017, appear to be no exception to the phenomenon.  We highlight below a few of the reports NUFORC has received for sightings on July 4th of this year: · Patchogue, New York, Tuesday, July 4th, 2017, @ 20:40 hrs. (EDT)—Two adult witnesses observe a distinctly red unidentified object hovering over a fireworks display.  The first craft is soon joined by a second, similar object.  After the fireworks display, both objects move slowly to the north, and soon disappear from sight.  The duration of the sighting is estimated by the witnesses to have been approximately 100 minutes!  Witness Report · Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tuesday, July 4th, 2017, @ 2100 hrs. (CDT)—Two adult witnesses, mother and daughter, witness an unusual red light in the night sky.  While the daughter watches the object, it changes its color to a pulsing white light, and appears to become smaller in appearance.  A short time later, the light changes to a pulsing green, and suddenly appears to “jump” across the night sky. We have updated our website with the posting of 127 new, or recently amended, sighting reports, most of which have been submitted to our Center, or altered, since Thursday, June 15th.  As visitors to our website read through the reports, we encourage them to be on the alerts for errors and hoaxed reports, and in particular in the case of those reports that have been submitted by individuals who elect to remain anonymous, and who provide no contact information.  We make an effort to label all reports from sources who elect to remain anonymous. PETER DAVENPORT, DIRECTOR OF NUFORC, WILL BE AWAY FROM THE CENTER FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS Peter will be traveling, for the next several days, and away from the UFO Hotline.  However, he will monitor incoming calls, and will attempt to return important calls, as quickly as possible.  During Peter’s absence from the Center, if you believe that you may have been witness to a UFO, we would like to encourage you, in lieu of telephoning the Hotline, to immediately compose a detailed written statement, in which you describe the sighting thoroughly, and submit that statement, using our Online Report Form.  In that written format, your report can then be posted to our website, and shared, in anonymous form, with the public. PHOTOGRAPHS, LENS FLARES, AND FLYING THINGS In the course of a typical month, our Center receives many photographs, and many people ask why we do not post more photos than are seen on our homepage.  The answer to that question is that most photos submitted to NUFORC, we usually end up concluding, are simply objects of terrestrial origin.  Most of those photos that we receive, and which we conclude, or suspect, are not photos of genuine UFOs are those that exhibit a “lens flare,” caused when a photo is taken with the camera pointed at a bright source of light, e.g. the Sun, a full Moon, streetlights, etc..  The light that enters the camera’s lens is reflected back and forth between surfaces of the glass elements of the objective lens, and they end up forming a “ghost” image of the bright source of light. This type of photo is taking a great deal of our time, which is being expended on items that have nothing to do with the UFO phenomenon.  Consequently, we share here this week a few examples of what we strongly suspect are photos that contain lens flares, and other objects that clearly are not of authentic UFOs, with the hope that it will allow people with this type of photo to properly identify the images for what they really are.  A fact that provides a hint that an image in a photo may be a lens flare, and not a genuine object that was present when the photo was taken, is that a straight line, drawn between the “ghost” image, and the bright source of light in the photo that is presumed to have caused the image, passes through the geometrical center of the photograph.  We present below a few photos, which contain what we believe probably are lens flares, together with what the photographers have had to write about the images, following the discovery by the photographer of anomalous objects in their photo:  · Example #1:  Dresden, Germany, Friday, June 2nd, 2017, @ 10:04 p.m. (local)—A woman took two photos of the Semperoper Building at the Theaterplatz, and later detected peculiar lights above the building in the nighttime sky.  We suspect, but cannot be certain, that the lights seen in the night sky are lens flares, caused by the bright street lamps near the building.  Witness Report   Photo · Example #2:  In flight (Tokyo, Japan, to Manila, Philippines)—Date unknown.  A young male photographed out the window of an airliner, and later detected a red object near the Sun.  No written report submitted.  Photo RADIO APPEARANCE Peter Davenport, Center Director, will make his weekly appearance on Coast to Coast AM, hosted by Mr. George Noory, on Thursday night, June 22nd, 2017, at approximately 10:15 p.m. Posted on Thursday, June 22, 2017. NUFORC HOMEPAGE AND DATABASE OF SIGHTING REPORTS UPDATED ON THURSDAY, JUNE 15, 2017 We have executed a hasty update of our homepage, as of this date, with the posting of 109 new, or newly revised, sighting reports. Please be alert for errors or hoaxed reports in the new postings, in particular among those that are labeled as having been submitted by anonymous sources. There are many intriguing reports in this week’s posting, but one from Troy, Vermont, in particular, caught our attention, principally, because it was submitted together with a high-quality photograph. Also, it was of interest because it appears to address the phenomenon involving red and orange lights, seen in the nighttime sky, a phenomenon that our Center has been calling to the attention of the UFO community now for five years. We have highlighted the case below: Troy, Vermont, Thursday, June 08th, 2017, @ 2130 hrs. (EDT)—A husband and wife witness at least three orange lights in the nighttime sky, which may have been attached to a dark object which was not visible. One of the objects appeared to ascend vertically at a rapid rate, and the other two objects moved along a different pathway in the sky. The husband reports that he used to be stationed in Afghanistan, where he was accustomed to seeing different type of munitions, so he probably is a discriminating witness. HOMEPAGE UPDATED ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON, FRIDAY, JUNE 09, 2017 We have updated the NUFORC website, as of this date, with the posting of approximately 140 new, or recently amended, sighting reports. The new reports are those received by our Center since approximately noon on Friday, June 02nd, 2017. We urge visitors to our site, as they read through the newly posted material, to be on the alert for what appear to be flawed, or hoaxed, reports. We have made what we believe was a concerted effort to proof-read the reports this week, and to amend, label, or remove, suspicious reports, but we sometimes err in our screening process, and there is always the possibility that we may have may have overlooked something. Several of the reports that appear in the database, this week, address the alleged sightings of red and orange “fireballs,” a phenomenon that our Center has been reporting on since June 2012. NUFORC has received an estimated 20,000 such reports, since the beginning of the phenomenon five years ago, and we believe that we are no closer to understanding what these objects are than we were when it first became noticeable. We summarize below a few of the posted reports that caught our attention, this week: · Placitas, New Mexico, August 15, 1969 (est.), @ 5:30 p.m. (MDT)—An adult male witness exited the local post office, and noticed a group of people standing and staring at a strange, transparent, and motionless pink “ball of light,” with a blue core. The Albuquerque Journal reported that a “weather balloon” had been witnessed in the area.   Witness Report · Lander/Giant Rock, California, Sunday, May 21st, 2017, @ 10:15 p.m. (PDT)—A group of approximately 50 witnesses, who were part of a sky-watching party at the Contact in the Desert conference, witnessed a yellow object (or objects) streak across the night sky, being pursued by what appeared to be a military fighter jet. Several of the witnesses have shared high-quality video of the incident, and an illustration of what the object looked like to at least one of them (below). Please see multiple reports for the incident, posted in the database of cases. · · Lovington, New Mexico, Monday, May 22nd, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. (MDT)—An adult male reports having witnessed a bright, shiny, V-shaped craft, which appeared to drop out of the bottom of a nearby cloud, then move off quickly to the west. Soon after the first sighting, a second similar craft dropped out of the same cloud and shot off to the east. Over the subsequent several minutes, five or six other craft appeared, and then accelerated off in different directions. Witness Report · Parker/Aurora, Colorado, Wednesday, June 07, 2017, @ 4:45 p.m. (MDT)—An adult male reports having witnessed three dark objects, which initially appeared to be hovering almost motionless in the distant sky. One of the three objects moved away from the group, and then returned to its original position. A video (334 mbytes), which we have not viewed yet, can be accessed here.  Witness Report   · Annapolis, Maryland, June 06, 2017, @ 10:00 p.m. (EDT)—An adult male, who describes himself as a medical professional, reports having witnessed a peculiar fireball, almost the size of a full Moon, streak across a large expanse of the nighttime sky, leaving a trail behind it. He allowed for the possibility that the object may have been a meteor, but he didn’t believe it was because of its strange appearance. Peter will discuss those reports cited above, as well as several more recent cases. Posted Friday afternoon, June 09th, 2017 Following Peter Davenport’s extended absence from the Center during May, our website it now updated, with the posting today of 207 accumulated sighting reports, and the telephone Hotline is now back to its normal operation. We express our gratitude to all those people who refrained from making telephone calls to the Hotline, or who left only brief messages, during Peter’s absence from the Center during the McMenamins UFO Festival in McMinnville, Oregon, during May 18th to the 21st. With the smaller than usual load of telephone calls, Peter was able to respond to virtually all of the calls placed to the Hotline during his absence. With every new update of our website, we invariably warn visitors to the site to be on the lookout for flawed reports, and in particular, reports that have been submitted from sources who elect to remain anonymous, and who provide no contact information. Peter will discuss some of the recent sightings that have reported during the past week. PHOTOGRAPHS Over the past two weeks, NUFORC has received a large number of photographs, submitted by witnesses, although most of them appear to us to be so ambiguous as to be of little interest, with a few exceptions. However, we are sorting through the photos and performing a second screening process, and may post some of them over the weekend, or perhaps next week. We need a bit more time than we have at the time of this posting to screen them carefully, before we present them as photographs of authentic UFOs. We have performed a hasty update of the website, as of this date, with the posting of approximately 68 recently received sighting reports. We always caution visitors to our website, as they read through the new reports, to be on the alert for flawed reports, or attempts to slip prank reports past our proof-reader. We believe that we detect most of them, but we don’t “bat 1,000” in that capacity, yet. As mentioned above, this is an update we make in some haste, in order to get the most recent reports posted, in preparation for Peter’s appearance on Coast to Coast AM tonight. We have updated the NUFORC website, as of this date, with the posting of 105 new sighting reports that have been received since the evening of Friday, April 28th, 2017. We have proof-read the reports as carefully as we can, but there always is the possibility that a report may have slipped through our “filter.” Here are a few reports that we believe deserve special attention: · Fords, New Jersey, Saturday, April 29, 2017, @ 1905 hrs. (EDT)—An adult male reports that while sitting in a laundromat, looking through a large window, he witnessed a brilliantly white, somewhat elongated craft drop down out of the sky at a 70-degree (est.) angle of descent. He reports that the edges of the craft were a bit “blurry,” and that the object appeared to be headed to a nearby warehouse park. His impression was that the object may have landed there. Witness Report · Woods Hole, Massachusetts, Saturday, April 29, 2017, @ 2030 hrs. (EDT)—Two adult witnesses, both of whom are trained research-grade scientists, were sitting outside, admiring the night sky, when one called the attention of her colleague to a formation of rectangular-shaped, somewhat yellow in color, lights, in a phalanx-shaped formation, passing overhead at a rapid rate. Two of the yellow lights appeared to switch positions with one another, after which the formation stopped and remained motionless in position for a short period of time. Shortly after the formation had stopped, the whole cluster reportedly just faded from view. Witness Report · Lawrenceville, New Jersey, Monday, May 1st, 2017, @ 2100 (EDT)—A young woman and a male friend were preparing dinner in her kitchen, when and intensely bright shaft of blue light suddenly flashed through the kitchen for approximately two seconds’ duration. The light was so bright that it left the two witnesses “light blinded” for several seconds, following the flash. Witness Report · Portland, Oregon, Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017, @ 2100 hrs. (PDT)—Two witnesses stand outside for twenty minutes, observing three lights in the night sky. The lights appeared to maneuver for several minutes, first forming a triangular pattern, and then arranged into a horizontal, straight-line formation. The primary light on one of the objects appeared to dim, revealing prominent flashing red and white lights. All three lights departed and disappeared from sight, after which one of them returned to the same location where it had been in the sky. One witness captured the photo shown to the right. Witness Report A STUDY OF UFO SIGHTING “HOTSPOTS” IN OREGON We recently received an e-mail from Mr. Keith Rowell, webmaster for the Oregon chapter of the Mutual UFO Network, regarding his investigation of possible UFO “hotspots” in that state. His findings, which are quite interesting, can be found here: http://www.oregonmufon.com/index.php/ufo-statistics/145-oregon-ufo-hotspots.   We express our gratitude to Keith for his analysis of the data, and for his allowing NUFORC to link to his findings on the Oregon MUFON website! NUFORC probably will update its website within the next several days, and will provide links and more photos that have been submitted to our Center. Posted on Saturday afternoon, May 06th, 2017. We have updated our website with the posting of 132 new, and recently amended, sighting reports, most of which have been received since our last posting on April 20th. We encourage visitors to the site, as they read through the new reports, to be on the alert for flawed and prank reports, and in particular, among those reports that are submitted by anonymous sources. We suspect that those reports from sources who choose not to identify themselves have a higher-than-average likelihood of being hoaxes, although that clearly is not the case for all such reports, some of which we find to be quite interesting, and convincing. Some of the newly posted reports that we found to be of particular interest this week are the following: · Churchill/Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, December 31st, 1979, @ ~2100 hrs. (EST)—An adult male, who describes himself as an aerospace engineer, was walking to a New Year’s party, when he looked into the night sky and witnessed a dark, or black, cigar-shaped object. The object was sitting motionless in the sky for approximately 7-10 seconds, long enough, the witness believed for him to be able to see the object clearly. The object just seemed to disappear, without appearing to have moved at all. It just “winked” out. Witness Report · Vance AFB, Oklahoma, Tuesday, April 25th, 2017, @ 2115 hrs. (CDT)—Two adult males, both experienced aviation specialists, report having witnessed a strange, triangular craft streak across the night sky, below clouds. The object exhibited no marker lights, which surprised the witnesses, and it covered most of the visible sky in under ten seconds. The object was silent. Witness Report · Ponca City, Oklahoma, Tuesday, April 25th, 2017, @ 0000 hrs. (CDT)—An adult woman was flying on a commercial jet airliner, looking out her window into the midnight sky, when she suddenly witnessed two bizarre looking objects that appeared to be not too distance from the aircraft she was on. One of the objects was shaped like a horseshoe, yellow in color, and the other looked like a classic disc-shaped saucer.Witness Report       · Parsonsfield, Maine, Tuesday, April 25th, 2017, @ 2100 hrs. (EDT)—An adult male reports witnessing an unidentified red object, that appeared to “dance” above the White Mountains of New Hampshire. After several minutes of watching the object, the witness observed a very bizarre yellow/orange flash of light, at which time a second red object suddenly appeared. A short time later, a second flash occurred, and both objects suddenly disappeared. Witness Report · Florida (many locations), Tuesday, April 25th, 2017, @ 2350 hrs. (EDT)—Approximately a dozen high-quality sighting reports were submitted in rapid sequence by witnesses in multiple locations in Florida…Pinellas Park, Miami, Largo, Plant City, Seminole, West palm Beach, Port Charlotte, Plantation, Apollo Beach, Clearwater, Jupiter, and Bradenton. Three adult witnesses in Largo reported having had a disc-shaped object descend out of nearby clouds, and hover briefly near their residence in the night sky. They report that the object suddenly darted back into the same area of the sky from which it had first come, disappearing again into the clouds. Please see reports from Florida for the night in question. · New Brunswick, New Jersey, Friday, April 28th, 2017, @ 1030 hrs. (EDT)—And here is a report that arrived moments ago, after we had initiated updating the website: Date: 04/28/17 Time: 10:30 Duration: 2 minutes Sighting City: New Brunswick Sighting State: NJ Sighting Zip: 08901 Sighting County: Middlesex Witnesses: 1 (possibly multiple) Shape: Disk Number of Craft: 1 Description: Shiny, silver disk witnessed high in sky above highway I-287 in New Jersey. On my drive home early from my job as a senior research laboratory technician on I-287 South in New Jersey, I caught a glimpse of a shiny metallic object in the sky. The sky was crystal clear blue with not a single cloud in sight. At first I dismissed it as a plane, but with longer examination I realized it was a slim, nearly-flat silver disk with no vapor trail. It appeared to slowly hover to the South then in seconds it swiftly changed direction and zipped off to the East and completely vanished. I noticed other drivers had slowed and were looking and pointing at the same region of the sky where I witnessed the craft. (EDT)—Two adults report witnessing a triangular-shaped craft, which exhibited an estimated seven white lights on its leading edge, passed overhead silently, and at very high speed. (EDT)—Three seemingly independent groups of witnesses report sightings of peculiar orange lights in Horry County, SC, at approximately the same time, and on the same night. Witness Report 1    Witness Report 2    Witness Report 3 · Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Wednesday, April 19, 2017, @ 08:16 hrs. (CDT)—An adult male, who describes himself as an experienced public employee, with military background, reports having witnessed a highly-reflective, spherical object move across the clear, cloudless sky, coursing generally from north to south. The object seemed to simply disappear instantly.Witness Report · Garden City, South Carolina, Wednesday, April 19, 2017, @ 02:53 hrs. (EDT)—An adult male, who works as a bartender, took his dogs out for a late-night walk, when he became aware of a “pink/yellow” light in the dark morning sky, which he first assumed to be a planet. As he watched the object, however, he quickly realized that it was moving slowly across the sky. Within seconds, the witness reports, a second similar light appeared in the sky, moved toward the first light, and the two lights “merged,” becoming noticeably brighter than either one separately, and their shape appeared to change. Witness Report · Kent/Uniontown, Ohio, Tuesday, April 18, 2017, @ 22:20 hrs. (EDT)—A woman leaves volleyball practice at Kent State University, and as she drives to her parents’ residence, she becomes aware of a very bright light, which appears to be following her vehicle, and perhaps illuminating it. As she is sitting at a red traffic signal, the object suddenly accelerates dramatically, and jumps a significant distance across the sky, scaring her very badly. Her father witnessed the object, as well. We highlight below a few of the reports which we found to be of particular interest this week: · South Carolina (in-flight; above), Wednesday, April 12, 2017, @ 6:00 p.m. (EDT)—A person who describes himself, or herself, as a military pilot, reports having had an unidentified, diamond-shaped, metallic-looking object pass within a very close proximity to a military aircraft being piloted by the witness.Witness Report · Georgia/South Carolina/North Carolina, Wednesday, April 12, 2017, @ 8:54 p.m. (approximate time) (EDT)—Multiple witnesses, stretching from Washington, Georgia, to Gastonia, North Carolina, reported having witnessed a very dramatic fireball pass rapidly across the nighttime sky. Many witnesses were strongly of the opinion that the object was not a meteor, given the absence of a smoky trail behind it, and given that the object allegedly was witnessed by at least one witness to slow to a stop, and then shoot off along a different path from the path it had initially been following.Witness Report 1    Witness Report 2 · Murray, Utah, Wednesday, April 12, 2017, @ 8:00 p.m. (MDT)—An adult male, who describes himself as a long-time employee in the aerospace industry, describes his having witnessed a strange-looking, black object streak across the clear and cloudless nighttime sky. The object allegedly covered almost the entire sky in an estimated 4 to 6 seconds. Witness Report Another report which we had intended to highlight during March is the following: · Grand Terrace, California, Friday, March 10th, 2017, @ 8:45 p.m. (PDT)—A husband and wife, out walking their dogs, witness a cluster of approximately 24 unidentified white lights, hovering in the nighttime sky. The witnesses reported the incident to the press, which gave the incident no coverage. Witness Report   They supplied the phot at right. We have updated the website and database of sighting reports as of this date, with the posting of 188 reports that have been either received or amended by our Center since March 23rd, 2017. We have succeeded in doing this week what we feel is a better-than-average job of correcting errors, and either deleting or “flagging” flawed reports, but there is always the chance that defective reports may have escaped our attention. Consequently, as visitors read through the new reports, we encourage them to be on the alert for possible errors, as well as for out-and-out hoaxes, which sometimes escape our attention. CLARIFICATION REGARDING PAST SIGHTING REPORTS For some reason that escapes our understanding, some visitors to our website are left with the impression that NUFORC is interested only in recent sightings, i.e. those that have occurred within the past week, or month. However, that certainly is not the case, and we welcome reports of suspected sightings of UFOs, no matter how long ago they occurred. We highlight below a report of a long-past sighting, which we received recently regarding an event witnessed in July 1950 by three young teenage men who were driving in the mountains near Quincy, California, and who encountered a metallic-looking, disc-shaped object, seen hovering over a nearby mountains. Please click on the link to the report submitted by one of the three young witnesses.Witness Report And here is another report we received from a gentleman who experienced a more recent sighting, together with a number of his co-workers at the Newport News, Virginia Shipyard: Newport News, Virginia, April 5th, 2017 @ 05:10 a.m. (EDT)—An adult male was standing beside the ship he was working on, taking his morning break, when he observed a large, dark-colored triangular craft, which complex blinking lights, pass overhead slowly. One of this week’s reports that captured our attention is highlighted below: New Orleans/Gulf of Mexico, Louisiana, Tuesday, March 21st, 2017, @ 1900 hrs. (local)—A chief engineer aboard a 240-foot long commercial delivery ship reports that he, along with several of his shipmates, witnessed a disc-shaped object rise out of the Gulf of Mexico, hover for a short time, and then suddenly accelerate, and streak off into the evening sky. The witness estimated that the diameter of the object was approximately five times the length of the ship he was working on. His belief is that a total of as many as 50 people, working on nearby ships, may have seen the object, as well. NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED ON FRIDAY, MARCH 17, 2017 We have updated our website, as of this date, with the posting to our database of approximately 115 new, and recently amended, sighting reports, most of which having been submitted to our Center since March 10th. We have proofread the reports as carefully as time permits, but there may still be a few reports in those we have posted that are flawed, or which may be intentional hoaxes. Every time we update the NUFORC website, we encourage visitors to allow for the fact that some of the reports may be defective, and in particular, with regard to the time and date of an alleged sighting. Also, some may be out-and-out hoaxes, particularly those submitted by individuals who wish to remain anonymous. A few of the reports that have captured our interest are the following: · Tacoma, Washington, Sunday, March 12, 2017, @ 1945 hrs. (PDT)—Two adults, mother and daughter, witnessed a large cluster of bright lights, seen drifting across the night sky in a random pattern for approximately 10 minutes. The objects rose in to the clouds and disappeared from sight. Note: At the time of this writing, we are unable to certify that the objects reported were not so-called “sky” lanterns, or “Chinese” lanterns, which are sometimes launched at celebrations. However but we post this case, nevertheless, hoping that the report may induce other witnesses to come forward, who may also have seen the objects, and/or someone who knows what the objects were.     Witness Report   Photo to right. · Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, Tuesday, March 14, 2017, @ 2210 hrs. (MDT)—An adult male, who describes himself as a former member of the U. S. Coast Guard, witnessed a very peculiar looking object hovering in the night sky. The object appeared to exhibit three separate lights, which were red, yellow, and white. After the object had remained almost motionless in the night sky, it suddenly appeared to “explode” into at least two separate fragments, and fall to the ground. The witness reported the sighting to a local law enforcement unit. Witness Report · And here is a report of a sighting in Anchorage, which just arrived, and which was submitted by a gentleman who describes himself as an “engineer”: Date: 03/14/2017 Time: 23:30 Duration: 20 seconds Sighting City: Anchorage Sighting State: AK Sighting Zip: 99508 Witnesses: 2 Shape: Diamond Number of Craft: 1 3 orbs in the shape of a triangle, morphed to a long thin line of light above tree line in Anchorage While taking the dog for a walk, at University Lake in Anchorage, we headed through a treed trail, and on to a clearing. After several seconds, my daughter said, “Dad, look at the lights in the trees.” To the north, I saw three white orbs in the shape of a triangle rise above the tree line. It appeared to turn West, and as doing so, the “orbs” turned into a long thin bright white light. Like a long fluorescent light bulb, but so much brighter. It then headed West and no lights were visible. I opened my eyes wide to let as much light in as possible (the moon was not above the horizon at the time). That is when I noticed the shape, very much like a box kite, but with triangles on top and bottom; essentially an elongated diamond. We stood there for about a minute after and headed back down the wooded trail talking about what we had seen. After about 40 yards, I said let’s go back. I was shining my flashlight on the tree line and my daughter said that if we see anything, she will record it with her IPhone. Once again, three orbs in the shape of a triangle appeared in the same spot slowly rising above the tree line. This time my daughter took out her phone to record and her phone died. She said it was at 60%. The same scenario as above played out, the orbs turned to one long bright light, then as headed West was just a dark silhouette of an elongated diamond until it went out of view (total time about 20 seconds each occurrence. At this point we left as it was cold. NUFORC website…the first update since February 23rd…with the posting, as of this date, to our database of approximately 266 new, and newly revised, sighting reports. We always encourage visitors to our website, as they read through the reports, to be on the lookout for flawed reports, and that warning is particularly a propos, given the multiple planets that are currently visible in the evening and morning skies. As anyone reading through the reports will note, the new reports are fraught with cases of mistaken identification of the planet, Venus, in the western sky, during the early and mid-portion of the evening. We have attempted to properly identify those flawed reports, but we suspect that many reports still remain among the new reports, which have not been properly labelled as sightings of celestial bodies. A few of the recent reports that we would like to call to the attention of visitors of our site are the following: · Ypsilanti, Michigan, Wednesday, March 08, 2017,—Two observers report having sighted a peculiar cluster of strange lights, allegedly seen hovering in the direction of a local body of water. The lights reportedly hovered in the nighttime sky for approximately one hour. The witness provides what appears to NUFORC to be high quality photos and video. If anyone visiting the NUFORC website saw the same objects, or knows what they were, we would like to invite that person to submit a written report, using our Online Report Form. See the video here · Tulsa, Oklahoma, June 20, 2015, @ 13:30 hrs. (CDT)—Two sisters and their mother report having witnessed a strange looking, “barbell-shaped” object in the afternoon sky.Witness Report We will update the NUFORC site, and share more photos and illustrations, within the next several days. (PST)—A young woman witnessed six distinctly red objects, hovering for approximately 15 minutes, which all appeared to ascend, and fade into the night sky. CASE HIGHLIGHTS Sahuarita, Arizona, Saturday, January 28, 2017, @ 20:50 hours (Mountain)—A husband, his wife, and their adult son were outside, intending to photograph the planet, Venus, when their attention was drawn to a cluster of orange lights, arranged in a triangular pattern, moving across the night sky. The objects moved to the south, and disappeared over the horizon, south-southwest from the witnesses’ location. Witness Report We will update the website again, within the next several days, and will attempt to post more photos and illustrations than we are able to do in this posting. Posted Friday night, February 03rd, 2017. We have performed an abbreviated update of the NUFORC website, with the posting of 70 recent written reports to our database of cases. The cases include a number of very interesting incidents, to include a possible abduction, and a possible animal mutilation case, both incidents from the summer of 1967. We urge visitors to our website, as they read through the cases, to be on the alert for hoaxed, and otherwise flawed, reports. SIGHTINGS OF VENUS AND SIRIUS NUFORC has been receiving an unusually large number of reports recently of both the planet, Venus, and the star, Sirius. Tonight’s posting is heavily “peppered” with many reports of a very bright object in the southwest, or west, sky, seen during the early and mid-part of the even evening. Venus is so bright, currently, that many people find it difficult to believe that it is merely a planet, and oftentimes flatly refuse to accept that fact. However, that bright object in the southwest sky is Venus, and we would be most grateful if people would refrain from telephoning our Hotline about it, and/or submitting a written report about it. Such reports are taking a great deal of our time, and unnecessarily so. The star, Sirius, is a very bright, and very colorful, star, that is seen currently in the southeastern, or southern sky, during the latter part of any evening. It is easily identified by the fact that it is situated to the left of, and slightly below, the easily recognized constellation, “Orion,” and it is the brightest star visible from Earth. Many people are reporting it as a “UFO,” but it is just a very visible star, and, like Venus, it need not be reported to our Center. We are already aware of its existence. Thank you!! In our haste during the proofreading process, we may have overlooked errors and bogus reports, so we urge visitors to our website to be on the alert for errors and pranks, as they read through the new reports. Peter will discuss his experiences in the field of ufology; his views about the U. S. press vis-à-vis UFOs; his thoughts regarding the U. S. government’s role in the presumed UFO cover-up; some thoughts about recently submitted sighting reports; and about his proposal to use “passive” radar to detect UFOs in the near-Earth environment. Peter will discuss several recent cases. We would like to highlight two cases, which were submitted to our offices recently: · Tokishi Shima Island, Japan, June 1st (est.), 1966, @ 1200 hrs. (local)—A former USAF radar operator alleges to have been witness to a radar intercept of what were interpreted by radar personnel to have been five disc-shaped objects, initially detected at approximately 25 (statute) miles to the north of the radar unit. The source of the report asserts that three jet fighters were “scrambled” to the area where the discs were being detected, but that the discs appeared to avoid the aircraft by disappearing from radar, and perhaps from the pilots’ sight. At least seven USAF personnel were witness to the alleged event. Witness Report · Fort Collins, Colorado, Wednesday, January 18, 2017, @ 2330 hrs. (Mountain)—A male engineering student reports having witnessed a cluster of 5-7 (est.) fluorescent green objects pass rapidly overhead, moving from south to north at a very rapid angular velocity, and disappearing from his sight in the northern sky. The witness asserts that the formation of lights shifted from a chevron pattern, to a straight line, as they moved rapidly to the north, passing through approximately 100-120 degrees of arc in, he estimates, 5-10 seconds.Witness Report Posted on Thursday night, January 19, 2017. The NUFORC website has been updated as of the evening of Thursday, January 12, 2017, with the posting of 72 new sighting reports, received since Friday afternoon, January 06th, 2017. We have worked unusually diligently this week to remove errors from the reports, and to remove prank reports from the database, but there is always a possibility of flawed reports being posted to our site. Hence, we always urge all visitors to our website to be on the alert for flawed, or hoaxed, reports, when reading through our database of sightings, given that virtually all of them are uninvestigated, and undocumented. Peter usually appears at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific) for 3-5 minutes, and will discuss some recently received cases, to include the following: · East Orange, Vermont, Saturday, November 11, 1979, (est.) @ approximately 0130 hrs.—A father and son travel from Massachusetts to East Orange, Vermont, to overnight in their hunting trailer, and planning to be ready for opening day of deer season. As they approach their trailer from the other side of a valley, they are at first confused by why the lights in the trailer are illuminated, and why they look so strange from a distance. They quickly reason that it may be because a relative has arrived before them, and he is up late, waiting for their arrival. They learn later that the relative was, in fact, still in Massachusetts, and had not traveled to Vermont at all, that weekend. Very interesting case.Witness Report · Borrego Springs/Superstition Hill, California, June 1st, 1997, @ 1800 hrs. (PDT)—Two young men are camped in an area where U. S. Navy jets are practicing low-altitude maneuvers. Later that night, the side of Table Mountain suddenly is illuminated by a peculiar looking object, that simply rises slowly, and vertically, against the side of the mountain, and then descends back to where it had come from. Shortly after that first sighting, the two men detected a “nebulous blob of sparkly lights” in the night sky. Witness Report · Orland Park, Illinois, Monday, September 05th, 2016, @ 0400 hrs. (CDT)—A man, who describes himself as a public employee, awakes in his bedroom, and is alarmed to discover three peculiar wounds on his forearm, oriented in an isosceles triangular pattern. He was possible witness to a peculiar flash of green light, possibly on that night, and allegedly on subsequent nights, as well. Witness Report NUFORC will update its site again, possibly over the upcoming weekend, or later next week. WE HAVE MOVED! After 32 years in the Seattle area, the National UFO Reporting Center is moving to a new locale in eastern Washington, a decommissioned U. S. Air Force ICBM missile base, located between the towns of Davenport and Harrington, WA, in Lincoln County. This photo of our new digs shows the property as it looked in the early 1960's. Once the facility is cleaned and renovated, which may take up to a year, our headquarters will operate out of this facility, which was the first underground missile complex commissioned by the U.
