Hoping for as much support as possible on the day I have spoken to UNICEF and they are happy for all supporters to gather at their designated area on the 13/22 mile marks!

They also have an end of race meeting point (look for the giant U in the Parade Ground will be having a long over due beer at the finish!

The official UNICEF cheering squad – plus any families and friends will be at Mile 22 (which is also over the road from Mile 13!), at the corner of East Smithfield and John Fisher Street (London E1W 1BX).

The ‘venue’ is basically the entrance steps to a building called Admiral House. Read more

As most people know, I have the concentration span of a gold fish. Or is that  the memory? Either way I get bored very quickly! So the last month of long monotonous runs has been a killer, culminating in 20 miles yesterday. After 45 minutes running I have to concentrate on topics to think about. During this month Ive pondered the Libyan situation, whether Arsene Wengers time is up, whether I need a new cricket bat and how to stop a puppy digging up my parsnips. Ive had really bad songs stuck in my head, paranoia over twinges in my calf and dillusions of grandure over my pace only to be disappointed as I get overtaken by mothers pushing their prams. With my usual training partners suffering from Beeritis (a condition whereby any level of sunshine drives and insatiable desire for the amber nectar without any physical exertion) I got another 16 miles under the belt on Sunday. The preceding week had been ideal annual leave, 4 solid short runs, gardening, a new puppy called Chester so I was expecting big things. In true Arsene Wenger fashion I was expecting the best in the long run and in true Arsenal fashion I failed miserably when the going got tough. Read more

10 miles again last night minus Porters who had his salsa lesson moved to Thursday. Felt fine though having lost my watch Im not sure how fast (or slow) I ran. Left a lot in the tank as I have 15 miles to do this weekend. Putney Hill again a problem as were the people of South West London who refuse to move aside for an obviously struggling runner I dont have this problem in Woking incidentally, probably a class divide, who knows?
