CMRR was established at UC San Diego in 1983 to advance the state-of-the-art in information storage technology and to produce highly trained graduate students and postdoctoral professionals for the data storage industry. Pursuing a dynamic, interdisciplinary program of cutting-edge research defined in cooperation with government agencies and industry partners, the Center's faculty, researchers, and students continue to push the frontiers of scientific knowledge and engineering technology to meet society's ever-increasing need for high-performance, reliable, and secure information storage systems.COVID-19: Important Information for CMRR PersonnelMarch 15, 2020Dear CMRR Personnel,Please continue to monitor all notices from UCSD related to COVID-19 including notices from Sandra Brown and Chancellor Khosla. If there are any additional pertinent information affecting UCSD and CMRR personnel, we will forward that information to all of CMRR immediately.To quote Chancellor Khosla, campus remains open to fulfill the needs of our educational and research missions, but we are taking steps to maximize social distance by minimizing face-to-face interactions. While we remain open and manage with the current COVID-19 situation, CMRR s business office is altering its availability at CMRR. Our CMRR business office personnel will be working remotely until further notice. Effective Monday, March 16, our CMRR business office personnel will be available via email and by phone. Please see below for temporary CMRR business office procedures. Visit our CMRR site for future reference to these same procedures at cmrr.ucsd.edu. Mail Deliveries to the Business Office:Mail services will continue as normal. Mail delivered to our CMRR Lobby will be available to pick at our CMRR Lobby.Access to CMRR Building:Most people that should have access and that need access to CMRR should already have a key to enter our CMRR building.If you need a key, please contact Octavio Ochoa at oochoa@ucsd.eduPurchase Orders:Purchase orders will continue as usual. Please forward your orders to Marina Robenko at mrobenko@ucsd.eduNote that there may be delays in several purchase orders. Delays are expected from several companies due to backlogged supplies and/or affected delivery servicesReceipts/Files for Reimbursements:Please send electronic photocopies of receipts and files to the corresponding staff member via email. Scans can be made in our CMRR scanner by our lobby or any other accessible scanning machine.Photographs with your phone will also suffice. For those continuing to work on campus, please continue to follow work recommendations and personal hygiene procedures recommended by our local officials:Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.If available, use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surface of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.Practice social distancing by avoiding close contact with people as much as possibleIf you are sick or feeling sick, please stay home and contact your health providerIf you can work from home, please make sure to work with your supervisor to work from home as much as possible.Given we are living in unusual times, it is vital we maintain strong communication with your supervisor and colleagues to continue to maintain a safe work environment and avoid the spread of COVID-19. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any serious concerns. If plans for campus change or escalate, we will make sure to notify all of CMRR.
