You do not have to pre-book.The museum, Porthole Room and on-site toilets remain closed due to the need to maintain social distancing. The Pier Copse toilets are available. These are just opposite the entrance to the Pier.In line with government guidelines, we are carrying out Test Trace. We can either take the name and contact details of the lead member of your family group, but we don t have to take these details if you check in by scanning the QR code with the NHS app, so it can speed up your entry to the Pier by using this. You can download the NHS app from the following links:****************************************************************************************************************************We are only accepting payment by debit/credit card, or other contactless forms such as Apple Pay.We do not currently accept cash.****************************************************************************************************************************Thank you for your continued loyalty to the Pier and we wish you and your families well during this difficult time.Fifty years ago  What happened on the day that Clevedon Pier collapsed .Disaster struck Clevedon Pier at 10.20 on the morning of Friday, 16th October 1970 50 years ago when under load testing for insurance purposes, the southern side seventh trestle failed causing the seventh and eight spans to fall into the sea, leaving the Pierhead as an island. Click here to find out what local people felt at the time you might be surprised.****************************************************************************************************************************To mark the 50 years of community effort since the collapse, the Pier has arranged for 12 historical posters to be printed.These allow visitors to the Pier to read about what happened on the day and the town s efforts to rebuild The Pier. As our museum is closed, these will be displayed outside on the lower windows of the pagoda, with gaps between the panels to ensure social distancing.Also on the day of the anniversary, at 2pm, a special plaque was unveiled to mark our survival.**************************************************************************************************************************** We have launched a special limited edition of 50 x 50 year passes that will allow one adult plus up to 3 children access to the pier for the next 50 years for just £10 per year.
