ISO General Assembly 2012

As one of the world’s leading producers of International Standards, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a key player in the development of global markets for a very broad spectrum of subjects.

Each year, a host country organizes a multi-day forum that brings together more than 600 delegates and accompanying persons invited from ISO’s 163 member countries. The purpose of this event, known as the ISO General Assembly (GA), is to provide a central venue for the discussions that will shape the direction of ISO’s future products, services, and systems. In addition to the meetings of the ISO General Assembly itself, there will also be meetings of the ISO Council, ISO Technical Management Board (ISO/TMB), ISO Policy Committee on Developing Country Matters (ISO DEVCO), and an Open Session day on standards related to sustainability.

On 17-22 September 2012, the United States will play host to the world’s standardization community as the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) welcomes ISO to San Diego, California. The official venue is the San Diego Marriott Marquis Hotel & Marina – a full-service hotel and meeting center located in downtown San Diego, just two miles from the San Diego International Airport.

Participation in the ISO GA 2012 is open to delegates appointed by ISO members and representatives of invited international organizations. For more information, contact your national standards body.
