Dr. Sands is an expert in the world of IBD. In fact, he was awarded the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America’s New England Chapter’s ‘Humanitarian of the Year’ award in 2006 and the CCFA’s national ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ in 2016 for his dedication to IBD. For his entire professional career, Dr. Sands has been looking after people suffering from IBD, and has been the main investigator on a number of groundbreaking studies for the treatment of IBD. He has also published over 150 peer-reviewed articles so he knows what he’s talking about.

Dr. Sands previously served as the Chair of the CCFA’s Clinical Research Alliance, and on the National Scientific Advisory Committee. He is a past chair of the International Organization for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IOIBD) and has also served as the Chair of the Immunology, Microbiology and Inflammatory Bowel Disease Section of the American Gastroenterological Association. Dr. Sands has been an Associate Editor for the journal Gastroenterology, and is on the Editorial Board of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.

Another incredible expert in Crohn’s Disease is Dr Corey Siegel. He’s the Section Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the Co-Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Center at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire, so he knows his stuff. He has lectured nationally and internationally, and published numerous journal articles and book chapters on IBD.

Dr. Siegel has spent a lot of his time developing tools to better the care of people with IBD. He also started the BRIDGe group – an international research group of IBD investigators looking at how to help people with IBD. He has served as the co-chair of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Professional Education Committee, and is currently the co-chair of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Quality of Care Program. So, with all that to his name, it’s no wonder Dr Siegel is famous in the world of IBD.

Our next reviewer is Dr. Sarah Streett, who is the Clinical Director of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Stanford. But it doesn’t stop there… Dr. Streett is a member of the Crohn’s and Colitis Medical Advisory Board. She has several leadership roles within the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), has served as a special government employee at the FDA, and represented the interests of gastroenterologists and their patients on Capitol Hill. Dr. Streett was recently recognized by the local Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation as a 2018 “Champion of Hope” for the impact she has had in the lives of people with Crohn's disease & ulcerative colitis.

Dr Street has focussed her career on treating people with IBD, and is now linking people with multi-disciplinary care and helping people find an opportunity to be involved in clinical research. Dr Street is also interested in developing precision therapy for IBD, in the role that the microbiome and diet play in IBD pathogenesis, and the intersection of IBD and fertility and pregnancy.
