SPP Regions promoted the creation and expansion of European regional networks of municipalities working together on sustainable public procurement (SPP) and public procurement of innovation (PPI). Regional networks can help increase the capacity of public bodies for SPP and PPI, and send a stronger signal of demand for sustainability to suppliers.
The project included 7 networks from across Europe which together published a total of 40 eco-innovative tenders focused on energy savings in public buildings; vehicles and transport; and food and catering. Find out more

Barcelona regionXarxa de Ciutats i Pobles cap a la Sostenibilitat is an association of municipalities, with around 280 members, committed to move towards local sustainable development.Bulgaria The Bulgarian SPPI Network is a newly established network of 15 municipalities that aims to enhance sustainable development through innovative sustainable purchasing all over the country.Copenhagen regionThis newly established network is working on the implementation of sustainable public procurement to drive the demand for green solutions and business models.Metrop. Region Rotterdam - The Hague 23 local authorities are combining forces in the Metropolitan region Rotterdam The Hague (MRDH) to improve accessibility and strengthen the economic business climate through sustainable public procurement.South West England regionThe Partners in Procurement Energy Network (PIPEN) aims to share best practice in sustainable and innovation procurement to achieve energy savings and increased use of renewables.Torino region Created in 2003 with a focus in GPP, Acquisti Publicci Ecologici, a network with 45 members, is now implementing sustainable public procurement of innovation practices.West France regionRGO supports 101 municipalities in their activities in green and socially responsible public procurement and organises awareness raising and training activities on the topic.
