The department has 30 core faculty members, many with cross-appointments or affiliate appointments in one or more clinical departments. These include Radiology, Human Oncology, Psychiatry, and Medicine. Medical Physics is one of 10 basic science and 17 clinical departments in the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. The department faculty provide comprehensive medical physics graduate and postdoctoral fellow education and research training and imaging physics residency training. Medical physics faculty research is broadly focused on using physical principles to improve our understanding of the biological basis of disease and health, improving our ability to non-invasively diagnosis disease as early as possible, and for developing, guiding, and non-invasively assessing therapeutic interventions. Together with our clinical colleagues, we advance state-of-the-art patient care by developing, validating, and translating to the clinical environment novel imaging systems, minimally invasive, personalized treatments, and early treatment assessment. Our board-certified clinical faculty provides expert medical physics services to clinical facilities in Madison, the state of Wisconsin, and beyond. The Department of Medical Physics offices and labs are primarily located in Tower 1 of the Wisconsin Institutes for Medical Research, adjacent to UW Hospital and the Health Sciences Learning Center on the western edge of the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.SeminarsThere are no seminars currently scheduled.
