- 微生物によるモノづくり・環境修復・海洋生命圏の理解を目指して - 当分野では、研究成果の社会への還元を念頭に、微生物を利用したバイオ燃料などの物質生産、二酸化炭素の削減や水質浄化などに取り組んでいます。例えば、微細藻類の生産する脂質や炭化水素は、太陽光を利用するため再生可能でカーボンニュートラルな資源と考えられています。また、有機性廃棄物から嫌気性古細菌等により発生するバイオガスや、リグノセルロースを原料として糸状菌や酵母により生産できるバイオエタノールは、食料と競合しないバイオ燃料として注目されています。さらに、河川水や排水による海洋や湖沼の富栄養化と、それに伴う沿岸域での微細藻類の異常増殖は、養殖魚介類の大量斃死や食用二枚貝類の毒化を引き起こし問題となっています。我々はこのようなバイオマスエネルギー、環境修復・浄化、漁業への貢献を意識し、微細藻類による有用物質の生産、バイオガスの生成、バイオマスの酵素糖化（糸状菌）・発酵（酵母）、海藻類の研究等を進めています。 また、世界各地の深海底熱水活動域をはじめとする海洋の極限環境を研究対象とし、「地球を食べる」微生物の生理生態や進化をモデルに海洋生命圏を総合的に理解するための研究を行っています。広く大学院修士課程・博士後期課程の新入生を募集しています。一緒に研究をしてみませんか？詳しくは入試情報を見てください。また、教育・研究活動のさらなる向上のために、分野外の研究機関等との積極的な連携を行っています。Copyright(C) 2011 Laboratory of Marine Environmental Microbiology, Division of Applied Biosciences, Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University.
