Inekon low-floor trams are in service in several cities of Czech Republic, USA and the Russian Federation. Inekon Trams Company provides reconstruction and modernization of older trams and designs & builds tramway tracks. Inekon Trams a.s. is a part of Inekon Group, established in 1990 to focus on four areas of business activity. Inekon Trams was created as a joint venture of the INEKON GROUP and the service and repair center of the Ostrava Mass Transportation Agency (Dopravni podnik Ostrava DPO). It was established in 2001 under the name INEKON DPO. After the INEKON GROUP acquired the remaining share from DPO in 2005, it became the sole owner of the company and renamed it to INEKON TRAMS. The business strategy of INEKON TRAMS is based on an extensive production cooperation and component purchase. The production remains the basis, and the background is formed by the technical and human capacity of the original service center in Ostrava. The production is guaranteed by the certification of quality management system ISO 9001:2000. 1. DELIVERIES OF NEW TRAMS Currently, INEKON TRAMS offers three types of new trams - TRIO, SUPERIOR a PENTO - and their modifications including catenary free tram. INEKON 01-TRIO: a triple-articulated vehicle with a lowered floor in the middle section to enable easy boarding for disable persons and for a passenger with baby carriages. Certified components of the highest technical standards provide for reliable and safe operation. The vehicle may transport up to 199 passengers. INEKON 11-PENTO: a quintuple-articulated one-way vehicle with Air ventilation provided by four ventilation unit by Kovoklima Gurtler Company and conform to the German recommendations of VDV 180/1, 2, or to the Czech standard CSN 28 1300. For this tram, an air-conditioning system for the passengers and separately for the driver can be installed as optional equipment. The vehicle may transport up to 304 passengers. 2. MODERNIZATION AND REPAIRS OF TRAMS The following services are offered to transportation providers that operate trams of Czech or Czechoslovakian origin: complex technical consultation for tram operation heavy duty maintenance for trams general repairs and modernization of trams (service life can be prolonged by 20 years which may bring about energy saving of up to 40 percent) extraordinary repairs of trams (in case of accidents) reconstructions of control systems in the drive mechanism, brakes, information systems etc. delivery of spare parts from the Czech Republic or from other countries including assembly, service and diagnostics The company provides a reconstruction of tram tracks with large-area concrete panels with block rail. The offered construction is a new technology which places rails into a steel ridge in armored concrete panels. Rail width (track width) is adjusted according to the distance between the steel ridges in the panel. Advantages of this technology are quick implementation, long service life of the tracks with minimum costs of technical, reduction of noise level and dust level, removal of impact stress on tram carriages.
