One day after school hours, she learned about a house fire that impacted students in multiple schools, and made sure to notify supervisors so help could be provided. She has also answered calls and texts in mornings, nights, and on weekends to help arrange transportation for students who wouldn t have been able to get to school without her assistance. She is appreciated for having a heart for kids and always going out of her way to put the needs of others before her own. Every child has a story if you just take the time to read it. Karen Daugherty, preschool assistant teacher at Earlington Elementary and West Hopkins, received the new 20/20 Vision Award during the Board of Education meeting on March 3.
