Health for All (Leeds)Ltdis a Leeds based charity whose vision is health and wellbeing for all, a society free from inequality, poverty and isolation. Our mission is to help the poorest and most vulnerable communities overcome the challenges of health and social inequality, enabling people to live happy, healthy, fulfilling lives.Bringing people out of their isolation and providing vital support and wellbeing activities lies at the heart of our charity's work. We know that during this COVID-19 pandemic, Health for All's services are needed more than ever.Our 6 Family and Community centres and community transport service were temporarily closed in March to comply with Government Public Health guidelines. We are delighted to announce that we are now safely, gradually re-opening our centres and transport service to welcome back the children, young people, older people and families in our communities we are privileged to serve.During the lockdown, we used creative, innovative ways to provide swift, responsive, reassuring help to people in the communities we serve, ensuring the most vulnerable and excluded received the practical and emotional support needed to help them cope with these challenging and worrying times. Health for All continued to support new mums to breastfeed, unemployed parents access training courses and jobs, older people to cope with poor health and isolation, children and young people to play and stay active, parents and carers to best care for their family members.Prioritising vulnerable people unable to access other services, our staff and volunteers made regular wellbeing calls, ran online groups and courses, provided expert advice and signposting. We swiftly yet safely responded to urgent calls for assistance, arranging not only food and medication delivery but also support to flee domestic violence or abuse.Following robust Risk Assessments of all centres and vehicles by our Health and Safety consultant, we have installed appropriate protective equipment, social distancing measures and intensive cleaning procedures. Small peer support groups and careful face to face work are re-commencing. We are currently transforming our centres into Community Resilience Hubs, which support local people to overcome the health, social and financial challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.Take a look at our latest annual review Improving Health Promotion of healthy lifestyles and healthy communities; energising inactive children and adults; encouraging healthy life choices.
