In 2010 I published a CD - Researching Derry Londonderry Ancestors: A practical Guide for the Family and Local Historian. This led to this website which grew year by year up to 2018. Since that date I have not made any changes and there are parts of the website that are no longer necessary. This is because most repositories have made more and more of their documents available online. Furthermore, I sense that the most used part of my website are the databases. I have decided that during the Virus I will concentrate on the Databases. I have kept some other material that you might find useful. In particular, Administrative Divisions where you will find details of the administrative divisions that you need to be aware of when using sources. I have also included some Maps and Photos. The Case Studies link will provide some working examples of the process of researching families and localities in North Antrim and Co. Londonderry, particularly in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Note, however, that most of these Case Studies were created before online data was available. Also, I have retained the paper Some thoughts on researching families and localities which beginners might find useful. Most of the records on this web site have been sourced from the Public Record Office (PRONI), Belfast and are reproduced with the kind permission of the Deputy Keeper of Records, Public Record Office of Northern Ireland.
