CADET EARNS HER PRIVATE PILOT'S LICENSEC/Col Mary Wellmeier is now a licensed private pilot! Cadet Wellmeier, a member of the Stebbins High School Air Force Junior ROTC program, was one of only 230 AFJROTC cadets selected nationwide to receive an Air Force Chief of Staff Flight Academy Scholarship. The six and a half week program was held at an accredited aviation university where all costs for her training were covered by the scholarship. Cadet Wellmeier said the program was one of the most intense but amazing experience ever! Congratulations on this awesome achievement!
CADET WHITT EARNS A FULL SCHOLARSHIP TO OHIO UNIVERSITY Congratulations to C/Col Grace Whitt for earning The JROTC J100 scholarship! This scholarship provides four years of full tuition plus room and board at Ohio University.
Any cadet who sees this number (1579) can write it down and put in MSgt Hood's mailbox for five extra-credit points. Expires 20 October.
CADET WELLMEIER RECEIVES AIR FORCE CHIEF OF STAFF FLIGHT ACADEMY SCHOLARSHIP Congratulations to C/Capt Mary Wellmeier who was one of only 230 cadets nationwide selected as a primary recipient for the Air Force Chief of Staff Flight Academy Scholarship! This summer, Mary will attend an accredited aviation university program to participate in aviation flight training which will allow her to earn her private pilots license. CIVIL AIR PATROL ORIENTATION FLIGHTS Seven AFJROTC cadets got the opportunity to fly with the Civil Air Patrol on 29 November. There will be more flights this school year, so stand by for more opportunities.

KC-135 AIR REFUELING TRIP - 14 NOV 19 24 cadets got to witness an Air Force refueling mission with the 121st Air Refueling Wing from Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base. The cadets watched the refueling of a C-17 aircraft from 21,000 feet over Tennessee. You can see more photos of the trip by clicking on the "Photo Album" link found of the left side of this page. CADETS VOLUNTEER FOR THE 2019 AIR FORCE MARATHON 51 cadets came out to support the 23rd Air Force Marathon on 21 September 2019. The cadets worked in the finish line tent and handed out refreshments to the runners.

CADETS PRESENT COLORS AT CINCINNATI REDS GAME
The Stebbins AFJROTC presented the colors at the Cincinnati Reds game on 3 September 2019. The color guard consisted of C/2Lt Lorenzo Eden, C/2Lt Graham Simpson, C/2Lt Keagan Simpson, C/2Lt Grace Whitt, C/CMSgt Zachary Baker, and C/MSgt Greyson Townsend.

C/CMSgt Grace Whitt, C/CMSgt Lorenzo Eden-Robertson, C/Col Cameron Horn, C/SMSgt Zachary Baker, C/SMSgt Logan Cascanett, and C/SrA Anna Cascanett helped the National Museum of the USAF validate a new Flight 101 course. Over three weeks they attended a mini-ground school and learned basic flight maneuvers in USAF Museum simulators. Their participation and feedback paves the way for the NMUSAF to provide this course to young people in the Dayton area.
WASHINGTON DC TRIP - 10-12 MAY 2018
39 cadets got the opportunity of a lifetime on the Washington DC end-of-the-year trip. The cadets got the rare opportunity to tour the White House, Pentagon, and the Capitol Building. The cadets also toured Arlington National Cemetery where they witnessed the changing of the guard, visited the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, and took a night time trolley tour of the National Mall. The cadets then ended the trip with a fun day at Six Flags amusement park.
You can see photos of the trip by clicking on the Photo Album link found on the left side of this page. cIVIL AIR PATROL ORIENTATION FLIGHTSRecently, twenty eight JROTC Cadets were treated to the ride of a lifetime as they received a thirty minute orientation flight given by Major Kevin Houser of Civil Air Patrol. The flights took place in a Cessna 172 Skyhawk aircraft and for most of the cadets, this was their first time inside an airplane! The orientation flights are part of the JROTC Curriculum and designed to create interest in aviation or an aviation-related career field. Cadets also received an unexpected lesson in flight safety as they were diverted from Wright Brothers Airport in Springboro to the Greene County Airport in Xenia because of the windy conditions. Based on the smiles on the cadets faces, its safe to say they had a great time despite the cold!
END-OF-YEAR TRIP TO GETTYSBURG MILITARY PARK AND HERSHEY PARK, PENNSYLVANIA, 5-6 MAY 2017
The Stebbins AFJROTC end-of-the-year trip to Gettysburg National Military Park and Hershey Park, Pennsylvania, was a great success. Cadets from both Stebbins and Fairborn AFJROTC had a great time exploring both locations on 5-6 May 2017.
ACADEMIC CHALLENGE TEAM COMPETES IN THE NATIONAL FINALS
Congratulations to our Academic Challenge Team! They were only one of eight schools, out of over 200, that qualified for the National Finals in Washington D.C. The teams compete in three levels of ACT and SAT-type questions. Our team is only the second in the history of Ohio to advance to the national championships!
