Parker Paws is a foster based, all volunteer, non-profit 501©3 organization whose mission is to save the lives of dogs and cats through rescue, foster and adoption. We take in homeless, abandoned animals from overcrowded shelters and owner surrenders and place them in loving foster homes, with nurturing and training until they are adopted into their forever homes.Parker Paws was founded in 2007 by Barbara Pursley as a shelter volunteer group. In 2012, we went out on our own as an independent animal rescue to expand our ability to save more lives across North Texas.  We take in homeless, abandoned animals from overcrowded shelters and owner surrenders and place them in loving foster homes, with nurturing and training until they are adopted into their forever homes. Our foster pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to adoption.  We pride ourselves in adopting out fully vetted, family friendly pets who do well in diverse homes.Our primary intake focus is owner surrenders to offer the community an alternative to the shelter and helping to reduce shelter overcrowding. Our intake is limited by available resources – funds and foster homes.Parker Paws is a foster based rescue; we do not have a facility, and we are not a shelter. All of our foster pets are kept in homes with families, and, in many cases, other pets. We provide our foster homes with all supplies and ensure our foster pets receive appropriate medical care prior to adoption. Many pets only need the basics, e.g., age appropriate vetting, including wormer, vaccines (including rabies), microchip, spay/neuter and start them on heartworm and flea prevention.  Others come to us injured and in need of major medical care.We rely on generous donations from local businesses and the community to support our lifesaving mission.  All donations support our rescue.
