The Palliser Airshed Society (PAS) was established in the Spring of 2003 to monitor ambient air quality in the Medicine Hat / Redcliff region and has expanded to cover the southeastern portion of the province. PAS currently maintains two continuous monitoring sites as well as 16 passive sampling sites distributed throughout the airshed. Air quality is known and valued to ensure clean, healthy air for today and tomorrow. Providing the data needed to let everyone know how to reduce pollution in their county. Collecting and communicating credible ambient air quality data to develop strategies to manage air quality issues within Palliser Airshed Continuous monitoring equipment will provide nearly instantaneous measurements of ambient concentrations for several pollutants. Our measurement is continuous 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and thus able to produce instantaneous or episodic data. Our data is collected in both real time and through sampling. This allows us to provide the most up to date information and back it up with data. To achieve recognized credible data‚ the Palliser Board will manage and design the air monitoring program in consideration of: public input‚ industrial influences and air modeling results. The design of this Airshed will gather credible data to address the issues most important to the stakeholder membership.  The Association will provide the structure to ensure long-term financial stability of the Airshed. PAS will also provide a forum for open discussion and coordination of all the issues facing the Airshed to allow for effective implementation of the goals and objectives of PAS.  The Palliser Airshed Society would like to thank the Environmental Monitoring and Science Division (EMDS) and Community Engagement of Alberta Environment and Parks for providing funding in support of monitoring operations for 2019. In addition, contributions derived from membership fees with municipalities as well as industry partners with facilities located within the airshed also represent vital support. The combined resources from public and private sectors allow PAS to continue to operate a comprehensive monitoring network which provides access to reliable air quality data for the benefit of all residents of southeastern Alberta.
