Description:

ACerS is open for business during COVID-19 with a few changesAlong with our global community of members and customers, ACerS staff are impacted by the COVID-19 virus. As of June 1, the state of Ohio, where ACerS’s office is located, has allowed the opening of the physical ACerS offices. However, out of an abundance of caution, many of ACerS staff members continue to work from home while conducting their usual Society business. We want to assure you that whether our staff is working in office or from home, ACerS is open for business. Orders for products will continue to be fulfilled, however, there may be a slight delivery delay attributed to higher volume of goods being moved by freight companies.ACerS events through 2020 have been canceled or rescheduled. Please check our meetings page for the latest information.Questions or concerns may be directed to customerservice@ceramics.org. Questions concerning the Ceramics Arts Network family of brands (ICAN, Ceramics Monthly, Pottery Making Illustrated, CLAYflicks, and Ceramic Recipes), may be directed to editor@ceramicartsdaily.org.The Society extends its best wishes for health and safety to our global community during this extraordinary time. The American Ceramic Society (ACerS) stands for inclusivity.  We are saddened and disturbed by recent events that have shone a light on the systemic racism, discrimination, and inequality that exists today. ACerS strives to be a leader by working toward solutions now and moving forward. ACerS seeks to foster an environment promoting the free expression and exchange of scientific ideas for its entire international community. We are committed to ensuring equality of treatment and opportunity and freedom from harassment for all members regardless of race, gender, nationality, religious beliefs, gender identity, color, age, marital status, sexual orientation, disabilities, ancestry, personal appearance, or any other basis not relevant to scientific merit. Any violation of our harassment or discrimination policies is addressed immediately by Society leadership, and not tolerated. Finally, ACerS has an active Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee that works with Society leadership to seek ways to be inclusive of all people. To read our Anti-harassment policy, please click here. To read our Code of Conduct policy for ACerS events, please click here. Check out our highly regarded journals, magazines, books, and more! ACerS meetings offer opportunities to network with ceramic and glass experts. Upcoming MeetingsThe American Ceramic Society announces it has rescheduled or canceled several events because of COVID-19. These decisions, not taken lightly, are based on guidance from the WHO and CDC, as well as local government and public health authorities of our conference venues.“We considered the emphasis in the near term for ‘social distancing,’ as well as evolving guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and government officials to restrict the size of gatherings and felt the best course of action was to reschedule. We made these decisions with the health and welfare of our attendees, volunteers, and staff in mind,” says Mark Mecklenborg, executive director.“We appreciate the efforts of our organizers, volunteers, vendors, and partners to work with us and respond to a fast-changing situation in a way that allows us to continue to serve our members and mission,” says Mecklenborg. “We will continue to monitor the situation closely and make future decisions as needed.”The ACerS staff remains committed to doing its part to promote the health and safety of the ceramic and glass community and the communities we live in. Please watch the ceramics.org for updates and news as the COVID-19 situation unfolds. The January/February 2021 issue of the ACerS Bulletin—featuring ceramics for displays—is now available online.
