Weapons trainingWeapons training isdesigned solely to push those students who want more from their Martial Arts. Our weapons training provides training in Bo Staff, Nunchaku and Escrima and includes its own grading system. These classes are for teens and adult students only. Learn and have fun all at the same time with Zenshin Karate.Inspirational LearningWho We AreThe Zenshin Karate Club was created in January1998 by ShidoshiCraig Decke (currently 5th Dan black belt) and his wife Desma Decke (currently 3rd Dan black belt). Both are originally from Perth in Western Australia but moved to the UK in 1998. Since then, the club has grown from strength to strength over the years and has become one of the most successful clubs in the West Midlands and is still growing. Zenshin Karate is sanctioned by WUMA (World United Martial Arts) Federation, which means once you are a member, you can train at any of our classes across the world and any grades that you achieve are recognisedworldwide.Currently, we havemany classes running EVERY week! We are also one of the few clubs in the entire United Kingdom to offer classes and grading programmes that are designed specifically for students of certain age levels. We have a "Little Dragon's" programme for those who are aged between4 8. We have a "Young Samurai's" programme for those who are aged between 9 13 and we also run a "Senior's" programme for those aged 14+Karate is a form of self-defence that in its modern form originates from the Okinawan islands of Japan. The true origins of Karate may in fact be in China, or indeed India where Martial Arts have existed for thousands of years. Karate is a Japanese word that means "empty hand". Zenshin means to "progress" or to "advance" or "move forward".The average class format involves learning basic striking, blocking kicking techniques, as well as some grabs, holds and "streetwise" self defence. Students are also taught stances and Kata (pre-arranged sequences of movements that represent both attack and defence). Kumite (sparring) is also practised in class. This is primarily non-contact to allow the students to practise in safety and build confidence.Over the last few years, Zenshin Karate has expanded into Zenshin Martial Arts which includes several classes in Australia and now includes Street Defence andweapons training and offers one of the most comprehensive systems available in modern Martial Arts.News UpdatesKumite SeminarOur next seminar will be focused on Kumite (sparring).This is a very important part of our Karate, which allows us to put all of the various blocks, kicks and strikes we have learned into practice!Apart from sharpening your karate skills, we will also look at real-life situations, manoeuvring, and different types of fighters.The seminar is open to 8th Kyu Adult and above (Yellow belt Young Samurai, Blue Belt Little Dragon) and you will need to own at least sparring mitts and helmet to attend (why not order yours today?!)Club moves forward yet again with another black belt grading!December 15th 2019FANTASTIC NEWS!!
