Justice Brian Hagedorn delivered the majority opinion for a unanimous Court. 06/11/20 - (19AP567-W) (2020 WI 55) Milton Eugene Warren v. Michael Meisner - The decision of the Court of Appeals is reversed and the cause is remanded to the Court of Appeals with directions. Justice Ann Walsh Bradley delivered the majority opinion for a unanimous Court. 06/05/20 - (18AP1209-CR) (2020 WI 53) State v. Mose B. Coffee - The decision of the Court of Appeals is affirmed. Chief Justice Patience Drake Roggensack delivered an opinion of the court, in which Justice Annette Kingsland Ziegler joined. Justice Daniel Kelly filed a concurring opinion. Justice Rebecca Frank Dallet filed a dissenting opinion, in which Justice Rebecca Grassl Bradley joined. Justice Ann Walsh Bradley withdrew from participation. Koschnick about circuit court planning for the resumption of in-person proceedings and jury trials, as directed by Supreme Court orders and guided by the Wisconsin Courts COVID-19 Task Force report. June 1, 2020 - The Wisconsin Supreme Court has voted to accept six new cases, and the Court acted to deny review in a number of other cases. The orders address: (1) the Final Report of the Wisconsin Courts COVID-19 Task Force; (2) the extension of orders concerning appellate court operations and remote proceedings; and (3) the extension of orders and an interim rule concerning jury trials and remote hearings in the circuit courts. May 15, 2020 - Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Patience Drake Roggensack today announced that the Wisconsin Courts COVID-19 Task Force has issued its final report, including a framework to guide counties and circuit courts as they work together to reopen facilities, return to in-person proceedings, and begin to normalize operations. see full article May 4, 2020 - The Wisconsin Supreme Court will hold oral argument in Wisconsin Legislature v. Andrea Palm, 20AP765-OA, on Tuesday, May 5 beginning at 10 a.m. see full article April 28, 2020 - Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Patience Drake Roggensack announced today: "In my administrative capacity as the Chief Justice, I have established a State-wide Wisconsin Courts COVID-19 Task Force to recommend a framework of criteria under which Wisconsin courts throughout the state can safely continue court proceedings, including jury trials." see full article April 16, 2020 - The State Bar of Wisconsin recently interviewed Director of State Courts Randy R. Koschnick about steps the court system has taken to ensure courts remain open and accessible during the COVID-19 pandemic. The attorneys won't be presenting from the podium.
