It seems, perhaps, that we have reached a moment when the conscience of this nation, built on blood and grief, will finally awaken to what it actually is, which is far and away different than its idealised self.

It seems that the rash of murders in a just few weeks’ time–that of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and Ahmaud Arbery–has finally awoken many who say they belong to God’s family and caused them to reattach a truncated Gospel to the narrative of scripture.

Justice and mercy cannot continue to be ignored while the Church tithes of "dill and mint and cumin.”

Too many image bearers have been sacrificed to the idols of power, supremacy, comfort, and "Manifest Destiny." Those who profess to be God’s people must act like God and be appalled at this evil perversion, as He most assuredly is.

Renovation stands firm—there is no Gospel void of justice and mercy and equity and liberation.
