The New York State Reading Association (NYSRA) is an all-inclusive volunteer organization of members who are passionate about literacy. We share and support efforts to improve literacy education for people of all ages on local, state and global levels. We are teachers, librarians, parents, students, writers, researchers and professors. Click on the picture or this link to listen as Thea and Keith talk about what teacher advocacy looks like and how New York State Reading Association advocates for literacy as a human right and assists educators in learning how to advocate for themselves and their students.Update on our Annual Conference:While we're all working our way through these uncertain times, NYSRA leadership has decided to postpone our in-person conference to 2021. That said, we also want to continue to offer our members the quality professional development they have come to expect from our organization.To that end, NYSRA 2020 Vision: Literacy for a Changing World is being offered as a series of virtual sessions. We are hard at work planning live online PD sessions that will be scheduled for evening or weekend hours, some of which will be taped to allow as much flexibility in attendance as possible. We will be offering CTLE credits for these sessions.Our next major event is An Evening with Cornelius Minor, on Fri., November 13, starting at 7:30 pm.Details about this session, other NYSRA events and virtual sessions from ILA and others can be found under the Professional Development tab.Stay tuned for future developments.Interested in becoming a member of NYSRA?
