Description:

The phantom menace is the trade dispute that has been deliberately manufactured by Chancellor Palpatine AKA Darth Sidious. As one half of the Sith duo with Darth Maul, he was the real threat.Using his cunning he manipulated various parties into the blockade action against the planet of Naboo. While it was a real blockade, it was a 'phantom' menace in that Sidious was using it as a means to an even greater end. That end, of course, is to strengthen his political position as part of his plan to build an Empire.Another way to look at it is that he himself is the Phantom Menace in that he's part of a 'whispers and shadows' campaign. He's a cloaked figure to many parties after all and his true identity is unknown. He is thus a phantom...The Battle of Geonosis where Yoda led his newly acquired Clone Army to rescue his lost Jedi (and Padme!) was were it really all began, indeed Yoda actually says Begun, this clone war has. The Clone War was a further step in Sidious's path to greater power. His manipulations via Count Dookuby way of leading the Separatist movement allowed for the Kamino Clones to be used as a legitimate counter to that movement. If you'll go back to The Phantom Menace, you'll recall that Darth Maul was hankering for getting some revenge when he chats with Darth Sidious. It's totally on the agenda. As for ROTS, after a long time of the Sith not being visible in the framework (not since the formation of the Republic), Palpatine has finally exerted his power and taken control of the Senate and formed his own Empire. He destruction of the Jedi via Order 66 serves as an act of literal visceral revenge by bringing the Sith back into control of the galaxy as they had once before.Fact fact: Return of the Jedi was originally titled Revenge of the Jedi so ROTS was an opportunity to get that theme back on the agenda.Originally Star Wars was just known simply as that. Then in 1981, George Lucas added the title of A New Hopeand the episodic nature of Star Wars was born.In terms of the title's meaning, the new hope for the galaxy is Luke Skywalker. After all the troubles that befell Anakin, Obi-Wan sees Luke as the new hope in response to Vader and the Emperor taking over the Galaxy. The new hope being the one who will bring balance to the Force. Obi Wan was however wrong on that point and Anakin was actually the Chosen One.Given the ending of Rogue One, 'hope' can also refer to that which came from Princess Leia receiving the Death Star plans. The Empire striking back title is literal. The Battle of Hoth is the Empire returning serve to the Rebel's first truly successful salvo. After the Rebels destroyed the Death Star I, the Empire had hunted high and low around the galaxy and in finding them, they turned up the heat!Vader taking Luke's arm is a physical manifestation of the Empire 'striking back' as well. You could be forgiven for thinking of Luke as being the Jedi who returned but you would be wrong. Luke is not a Jedi until he has faced Vader as his final test (Yoda tells him this). So, it's impossible for Luke to be 'returning' as he has never been a Jedi. However, if you look at it in the sense of Jedi as a collective, you could well argue that the Jedi (as a plural collective) have returned when he says to the Emperor:Luke: I am a Jedi, like my father before me.Palpatine: So be it... Jedi! The real Jedi returning is Darth Vader. When he decides to save his son in preference to Emperor Palpatine, he becomes a Jedi again. Listen carefully to the music that plays just as he's throwing the Emperor down the shaft, it is the Force theme (AKA Binary Sunset). It is marking Vader (now actually returning as Anakin Skywalker) bringing balance to the Force! In short, Vader is the returning Jedi (singular), Vader and Luke together are the returning Jedi (plural). The Force Awakens One word:Rey.Rey is a ray of hope.A new one.She is also a ray of light. The light side of the Force. The Force has awoken in her. She's able to learn the ways of the Force just by an initial thought. As a guess, she chances her arm with a Jedi mind trick. She can summons a saber to her open hand just by think about it. All in less than 2 days worth of action and adventure. The Force has indeed awoken in Rey.You could also consider that the dark side of the Force has also fully awoken in Kylo Ren. When he killed his father, he fully committed to crossing over to the dark side and resisting the temptation of the light.Rogue OneWe think this is a reference to three things. The first is that it is the military call sign of the ship Jyn's crew leave for their mission on.The second is a reference to Jyn Erso's personal nature and the third reference is the fact the movie is set somewhat outside of the Skywalker family saga.Check out Rogue One's meaning in more detail. The Last JediYoda's dead, Ben Kenobi is dead, Anakin Skywalker is dead.A cold read suggests the title is referring to Luke Skywalkerwho is the last known to be living Jedi.Or does it?Again, it's a double play on words.Luke is indeed the last Jedi standing and he comes full circle in his character arc as he understands that he must sacrifice himself, to save Kylo Ren, Leia, Rey and the rest of their band of merry rebels and in doing so, he becomes the epitomy of what it means to be a Jedi Knight. And in that act, he hands over the title to Rey, to continue on her path.Kinda like what Obi-Wan Kenobi did for Luke himself in ANH...Han SoloWe may be mistaken about this but we think the Han Solo movie is about some guy called Landonis. Here's some trivia from the Solo movie. The Rise of SkywalkerThis one can have a double meaning.Rey adopts the title of Skywalker as a mantle - to honor Luke Leia's legacy. It also can refer to Ben Solo (his mother is a Skywalker) rising from the depths of being under Snoke's influence and coming back from the dark side. The history of Luke Skywalker's blue lightsaber Please note that this story of Luke's blue saber is the story of it in the movies. It does not cover any other elements of the expanded universe, Legends or current canon outside of the movies. The history of Luke Skwalker's saber is as long as the Star Wars saga itself. This makes sense really as Jedi Knights with electric swords is what Star Wars is all about really.Well, you know what we mean.We call it Luke's saber but it was really Anakin's. Obi-Wan Kenobi picked it up as he left Anakin to die, having just bested him in their duel on Mustafar in Revenge of the Sith. He held it for many years until he gave it to Luke in A New Hope so hence fans often think of the blue saber as Luke s. But if the sword was originally Anakin s, what is its story? You may recall in Attack of the Clones that Anakin lost his arm in the duel with Count Dooku, thus continuing (or starting!?) the tradition for characters to lose their limbs in Star Wars movies. Given the loss, Anakin required a second saber. And it is with this saber that the real story comes into play. This is the saber that Anakin used when he became Darth Vader. Thus it is the saber that massacred the Younglings in Revenge of the Sith. It is the saber that he executed Count Dooku with. It is the saber that killed all those he found in the Jedi Temple and it is the saber with which he lost his duel with Obi-Wan. So the blue saber had a tough start to life it was initially used by one of the most promising Jedi that had ever been and then it became used by a Sith Lord. Talk about duality.By the time it is passed to Luke, the sword has seen a lot of blood split, including Jedi and younglings. No wonder Kylo Ren wanted it so badly. This weapon has been a part of some real Star Wars history and has let the blood of many innocents but in ANH, Luke doesn t get to play swashbuckler, rather he gets to train with it on board the Millennium Falcon. It s not until the events of The Empire Strikes back does the sword truly became a part of Luke's legend. In that movie, it is used by Luke to free himself from the ice trappings of the Wampa and then used by Han Solo to carve up his Taun-taun so that he could place Luke s frozen body inside it to protect him from the cold. The next time is a more dark moment. Luke has undertaken training with Yoda on the swampy plant of Degobah. There comes a point where Luke comes across a cave. Effectively warned not to take his weapon in with him, Luke finds himself having a strange dream like experience where he must draw his saber to protect him from an advancing Darth Vader. It is the first occasion we see Luke actively use the saber to protect himself. That it is a dream experience of a kind, does not diminish that Luke used the saber believing he was actually facing Vader. Of course, Luke eventually faces Vader at Bespin s Cloud City where they have an epic fight and get the measure of each other so much so it s a fight Luke cannot win and loses his hand for his trouble (just like his father had years before on two different occasions!). At this point, it is the stuff of movie legend that Vader reveals himself as Luke s father. Imagine that! But in all that excitement, Luke s saber is actually lost down a shaft somewhere. And that, was apparently the end of that. In Return of the Jedi, Luke fashions his own saber (while not mentioned in the film, it is a Jedi tradition to do so) and uses that saber when he destroys Jabba s Sail barge and of course when he fought Vader aboard the Death Star, returning the favour by cutting of Darth Vader s arm, an indignity he s now suffered through three times! But what of that lost blue saber? This is where the saga of the saber begins to play out even further than any fan may have ever imagined. 30 odd years since it was lost both in movie time and real world time, it turned up again in The Force Awakens. The sword was found to be in possession of Maz Kanata, a strange being who appears to be sensitive to the Force, or at least has a profound understanding of it. She set s Rey up to find it as she knows the Force is calling her to it. Why? We do not really know but Maz knows the sword must find its way to Rey s hands and so gives it to Finn as a place holder until Rey is ready. Finn gets to do a dance with a Stormtrooper with the sword and then holds his own for a time against the father killing Kylo Ren at which point Rey then gets her hands on the sword and has an epic battle with Ren. Ren of course being the grandson of Darth Vader, the man who used to own the sword that Rey fights him with. The sword has come full circle in an odd manner. But Rey didn t want the sword from Maz in the first place. The dream sequence spoked her totally so much so that even though she knows she must find Luke Skywalker, she still hands him the sword when they first still meet at the top of the Jedi Steps on the island where Luke has hidden himself away. It s a poignant moment Luke s blue saber has been returned to him after so many years. One can only imagine the feelings that were running through Luke s mind at that moment the last time he saw it, his father had just cut off his arm and revealed himself. What happens to the saber in The Last Jedi?Rey gives it to Luke who then casually throws it behind him, down the cliff. Rey then trains with it on Achto Island. It's then used by Kylo to kill Snoke and the Praetorian guards. As Rey and Kylo then Force duel for possession, the saber snaps in half, ending the legacy of the saber. And then we get to The Rise of SkywalkerIt appears Rey's skills are complete and she has repaired the split sabre (or perhaps Leia has).Luke shows Rey where Leia's saber is hidden on Achto Island and boom - Rey has two sabers on her person when he confronts Palpatine. The Force Dyad is now so strong between Rey that she can pass Ben Skywalker Anakin's saber to him so he can fight the Knights of Ren which have turned on him. It's space magic indeed. But it means that the last Skywalker to wield the saber is actually the grandson of Anakin Skywalker. A long history for small piece of metal.Trivia from The Mandalorian television showThe Mandalorian is the first live-action Star Wars show and has been released on Disney + Plus (the new Netflix basically). It's a big-budget show which features a bounty hunter that never takes his helmet off.Sounds a bit like Judge Dredd eh?Well... he does when no one is looking. This show was a smash hit for Disney - Here's some trivia that we've learned about it. This will be a living document.Mark Hamil himself played the voice of the bartender robot in the fifth episode called "The Gunslinger", the droid, EV-9D9.The series was written by Iron Man veteran Jon Favreau. His prior connection to the Star Wars universe was voicing the character Pre Vizsla on Star Wars: The Clone Wars. He ended up doing a cameo as well. The Mandalorian's rifle was inspired by the rifle that Boba Fett had on his person in the animation segment of infamous The Star Wars Holiday Special:The show is set five - seven years after the events of Return of the JediBryce Dallas Howard directed an episode. Her father, Ron Howard directed Solo: A Star Wars Story.Yes, that was a Kowakian monkey-lizard you spied roasting on a spit. You might recognize them as being the same as Salacious Crumb from Jabba's Palace. The lead character's ship is known as the Razorcrest and is a practical effect. The dude frozen in carbonite at the end of the line of blocks is Moralo Eval who was featured in The Clone Wars.Disney canceled the ill fated Josh Trank directed Bobba Fett feature film in favour of this show.Spoiler: the creature of the same species as Yoda that is 'rescued' by the Mandalorian represents the third time such a creature has been spied in a Star Wars feature - Yoda of course, and Yaddle from the original version of The Force Awakens and now 'Baby Yoda'.Lead actorPedro Pascal was the thirteenth actor from Game of Thrones to appear in the Star Wars franchise. The score is composed by Ludwig Göransson, who amongst many recent popular projects, worked with Donald Glover on his Childish Gambino identity. He recently won an Oscar for his work on Black Panther.Nick Nolte auditioned for the original role of Han Solo 40 years ago.Carl Weathers plays Greef Cargam the head of a guild of bounty hunters. He has the contacts and contracts for the Mandalorian.Producer Jon Favreau gave Pascal the esteemed films of director Akira Kurosawa to watch before filming began. Kurosawa's films inspired George Lucas's original script for A New Hope.In S1E2 - sone of the parts the Jawa can be seen to be holding having taking them from the Razor Crest are Volkswagen fuel injection rails.Update: It was a similar-looking Mandalorian: Bobba Fett appears to make a sneaky blink- and-you'll-miss-it cameo - when the 'Mando' visits the underground Mandalorian settlement to have his new pauldron forged - a Mandalorian wearing a suit of armour that looks a lot like the legendary Boba Fett may be spied. So Fett survived the Sarlacc pit fall after all eh? Here's the picture:Pascal was inspired by Clint Eastwood's Man with No Name character from the Sergio Leone spaghetti western films. This is no surprise given, Boba Fett has the same inspiration. The ship is called the Razor CrestWriter and producer Jon Favreau had written four of the scripts for The Mandalorian before he even had a deal to make the show! The reference to Life Day is I think the second 'new canon' reference to the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special television movie - the same one which Boba Fett first appeared in. The other reference was in the Solo film where we learned Chewbacca's father's name.Clone Wars veteran storyteller Dave Filoni makes his live-action directorial debut with the first episode being his to direct ( he also does a cameo as an X-Wing pilot in 'The Prisoner'In episode 1, The Big Bang Theory s Brian Posehn plays the snowbound speeder Lyft driver who gets eaten by the ice creature. In S1E2 - when the Jawa drops the item on Mando's head - a distinctive bell clanging sound is heard - this is a straight lift from the classic Looney Tunes style of comedy when a dropped anvil hits someone's head.Deborah Chow, directed Episode 3 and will direct the full Obi-Wan Kenobi series.Episode 4 was directed by Bryce Dallas Howard - star of the Jurrasic Park remakes and the daughter of Ron Howards - who directed the Solo film. The container in which the Imperial Steel is held is actually the same as the infamous 'ice-cream maker' that was carried during the evacuation of Cloud City in The Empire Strikes Back:The Mando's weapon is modeled on a Bergmann pistol. In the same vein, The joystick in the Razor Crest is a commonly used Thrustmaster joystick. Cara Dune is the bad ass Rebel Shock Trooper that gives Mando some grief before teaming up to save the fishing village by bringing down the AT-ST. Played by Dead Pool actress Gina Carano, we suspect the character's name is a play on Carano's last name and a subtle to reference to the Dune novel which had a massive influence on the original scripting of A New Hope. Season One: Episode 4: Sanctuary is basically one giant reference to The Magnificent Seven and the film that inspired it, The Seven Samurai. This is classic Star Wars - many Western films have inspired the past films (John Wayne 's cowboy in The Searchers for example) and the Mandalorian is not short on positioning itself as a Western. That's Dave Filoni as an X-wing pilot in the episode The Prisoner. Filoni directed two episodes of the first Season of The Mandalorian and of course, he wrote and directed most of The Clone Wars animated season:But that's not all! The other X-wing pilots are directors of season one shows - Rick Famuyiwa and Deborah Chow (who is also slated as the director for the Kenobi show.British comedian Richard Ayoade voiced Zero in Episode 6.Matt Lanter who voices Anakin in The Clone Wars played the New Republic Officer on the Prison Ship in the episode 'The Prisoner'.Rosario Dawson play's Ahsoka Tano - this will be the live-action debut of the the character, best known to fans as the lead character in The Clone Wars.If you're wondering when the show takes place in the Star Wars time line, the first season takes place six years before the birth of Rey (Skywalker). Here's some quotes from the Mandalorian.Official poster of The Mandalorian. There's been 11 Star Wars movies over 40 years and there's been a lot of ideas, stories, characters and actors that have been thrown into the mix. We're also about to get season two of The Mandalorian after eight seasons of The Clone Wars! This has meant there's plenty of facts about the Star Wars movies, both in terms of what can be found in them and the things that happened while they were in production. So why 501 bits of trivia? We're doing this post in honor of the 501st Legion, also known as the 501st Battalion or "Vader's Fist," was an elite stormtrooper legion under the command of the Vader during the Imperial Era.In the real world, the 501st is a group of dedicated Star Wars fans who create models of suits of armor from the films, but more importantly, they have a keen eye on performing acts of charity which we think is great. Here's 501 of the best facts about Star Wars that we could find. When Bounty Hunter Jango Fett gets into his ship after his fight with Obi-Wan Kenobi in Attack of the Clones, he bangs his head on the open door. This was intentional and is a reference to a famous goof from the original movie where a cloned Stormtrooper accidentally bangs his head on a door (the clone being the descendant of Jango Fett and having inherited this character trait). In Solo, Chewbacca's father's name is Attichitcuk, as it was in the infamous TV Special. Each of the three main bad guys in the prequel films contains an element that portends what Darth Vader will become. For example General Grevious, being mostly a robot with breathing difficulty (this was inflicted by Mace Windu and reflects the introduction of Vader and his famous breathing technique). While not named checked in the films, Princess Leia's adoptive mother's name is Queen Breha Organa. Some people claim Kylo Ren is thus a prince being Leia's son, however we're pretty sure that royal line died when Alderran was blown up (despite what Lor San Tekka might say....)E.T. characters turns up in The Phantom Menace This is a payback of sorts to Stephen Speilberg as he placed a Yoda costume in the Halloween scene of the E.T. film.TESB s line 'the first transport is away!" was spoken by Mark Hamill. Nipple cannons indeed:Darth Vader's black suit was in part inspired by Nazi uniform designs. The original Rogue squad unit in Rogue One had a giant green alien called Senna and a Lunka. They were paired as a duo but ultimately dropped.Han Solo grabs Princess Leia s breasts in the middle of the Battle of Endor. He was perhaps checking she was still wearing this. Harrison Ford also pulled a similar movie on the Falcon in The Empire Strikes Back. The scruffy scoundrel... and let's not forget the infamous nipple slip Lucas left in in Jedi.In A New Hope, Leia was kept captive on the Death Star in prison cell number 2187. This was a deliberate choice as 2187 is the year that the George Lucas directed cult film THX 1138, was set. The Force Awakens took this even further and used the number as Finn's designated Stormtrooper number FN2187.Yoda s species has never been mentioned. In official records, he is simply an unknown species . He'll always be Kermit's ugly cousin to us.Princess Leia never actually gets to 'meet' General Obi-Wan Kenobi. She sees him from afar when she's escaping the Death Star as Obi-Wan is about to let Darth Vader kill him but that's it. Unless you count Obi-Wan being present for her birth in Revenge of the Sith...then she never met him.Anthony Daniels, who voiced C3P0 and climbed into the tin suit, is the only actor to appear in all 9 Star Wars saga films - Daniels also had a major part in The Clone Wars animated film of course!Empire was the first movie to have a number by its title in the opening credits being 'V'. The original Star War was not called A New Hope or Episode 4, this came later. As General Kenobi is about to leave to hunt down General Grievous, he shares a nice moment with Anakin which finishes with a very loving, 'Goodbye old friend' from Kenobi. This is the last time in the movie the two Jedi converse as friends. A key thing is the lighting - Anakin in the dark and Obi Wan in the light - it is a literal case of foreshadowing what was to come between them.Bail Organa and Yoda step into the hallway of Organa's ship and have a nice conversation about being rebels or something in Revenge of the Sith. It's the actual ship that Darth Vader boards to capture Princess Leia Organa in the start of A New Hope, The Tantive IV.Darth Vader has his own theme song written by John Williams. Known as the Imperial March it was introduced in the Empire movie and used in Jedi and in the prequels to show when Anakin was turning to the dark side of the Force. The furry Ewoks were a late addition to the Star Wars mythology in Jedi. Their part in the story was to originally be played by Wookiees, but by the time Lucas and his production partners sat down to write Return of The Jedi, they realized that, because Chewbacca could fly the Millennium Falcon, repair the ship and operate pretty much any weapon or machine in the known universe, they'd made the Wookies too technologically advanced for the plot.Wedge Antilles really is Obi-Wan Kenobi's Uncle! And he made a cameo appearance in Rogue One.In Jedi, listen very carefully as Darth Vader picks up the Emperor and throws him down the Death Star shaft. This is the only time the Jedi theme music plays over a shot of Vader, reflecting his return to the light side of the Force. It's a myth the Wampa was created to allow for Luke's rearranged face after a car accident. Mark Hamill was injured prior to the filming of The Empire Strikes Back. This is a fact though. The myth is that due to his face being rearranged, Lucas had to re-write the Hoth events to include the Wampa attacking Luke to account for his injury. The truth is that no accommodations were made for Hamill s face. The myth is probably stoked by this moment from Empire that was unused. After appearing in Jedi, Wedge Antilles becomes the only X-wing pilot character (apart from Luke) who survives all three major battles in the films. Luke of course only took part in two of those battles as a pilot, his last part was on the Death Star, helping Vader bring down Palpatine. The Falthier boy jockey at the end of The last Jedi used the Force to pick up the broom... he was the result of the Spark after all...In the Hoth planet Rebel base - recall that dude to which Han Solo retorts, "Then I'll see you in Hell!" just before he heads out to find a certain missing Jedi? That's Cliff Clavin from Cheers AKA John Ratzenberger. These days he does voice acting in most Pixar movies.Anakin Skywalker really is the Chosen one . While Yoda and Mace Windu may have thought a mistake had been made in the reading of the prophecy, Anakin was the one who actually killed Sith Lord Palpatine by throwing him down the Death Star s reactor shaft in Jedi and thus restored balance to the Force.Due to a heat wave in England when filming the Rebel pilot attacks on the Death Star, it was so hot the actors wore shorts and not their Rebel uniform pants.Harrison Ford famously was never intended to be Han Solo, he was just hanging around after American Graffiti and was helping other actors read their lines as Lucas was in the casting process. Eventually, Lucas wised up and realised Harrison already had the part down cold. That's the stuff of moviemaking legend! After Padme dies, she is returned to he home planet of Naboo for burial - her body has been altered to make it appear like she was still pregnant - this is all part of the ruse to keep the existence of Leia and Luke a secret. The famous reveal of the father and son relationship between Vader and Luke in The Empire Strikes Back is often misquoted as "Luke, I am your father". The line is actually "No, I am your father".The name of the hangar where the Millennium Falcon takes off from in A New Hope is docking Bay 94. It the first season of the Mandalorian, the docking bays for ships have the same kind of numbering system format in play. While Return of the Jedi saw Luke return the favour to Vader and cut his arm off, the idea for it actually came from the expanded universe novel, Splinter of the Mind's Eye .Vader was actually the only Star Wars film character to lose an arm three times! And both his legs as well. Obi-Wan Kenobi got 3 of his limbs in Revenge of the Sith!James Earl Jones is famed for providing the voice for Vader however he didn't do the famous breathing effect. This was done by Ben Burt placing a microphone inside the mouth piece of a breathing apparatus and recording it being used.Mr Diehard, Alan Rickman auditioned for the role of Moff Jerjerrod.George Lucas at one stage considered using the great actor and director Orson Welles as the voice actor for Darth VaderThe Star Wars Ring Theory shows how all the films under Lucas s control have a strong rhyme and resonance. The films echo each other, and key themes re-occur.The scene where Anakin puts his hand on Padme s throat in Attack of the Clones, foreshadows how he will kill her. Choking people in Star Wars is a big theme. It's a myth that George Lucas had 12 films all mapped out before the first Star Wars was released. That s the legend but the mythology of it has grown over the years. The nutshell is that Lucas wrote a great deal of material when he was developing his little sci-fi adventure. Based around a so-called Journal of Whills , Lucas script eventually was cut up and Star Wars as we know it was filmed. It was not until Empire Strikes Back came out that the term Episode 5 was mentioned officially. Lucas s grand vision was actually pieced together over several years in very broad strokes. The 12 or 9 films as most people know of were never fully scripted but were largely imaginings of Lucas that were eventually firmly realized well after 1977The script for A New Hope was heavily influenced by Frank Herbert's Dune novel - several concepts were taken from it such as spice .In ROTS, a quick character cameo occurs when Vader and the Emperor are standing on the bridge of a Star Destroyer, overlooking the initial construction stage of the Death Star. In a blink and you'll miss it moment, a young Moff Tarkin quietly sidles up to the Sith Lords. Moff Tarkin features heavily in A New Hope, it is he who orders the destruction of the planet Alderaan.During the opera scene of ROTS, Palpatine tells Anakin about how Darth Plagueis was so powerful he could create life. While it's never made explicit, the film could have been suggesting that Darth Plagueis caused the 'immaculate conception' of Anakin Skywalker. The Expanded Universe novels show that Plagueis certainly was capable of such an amazing act...Jedi was originally going to be called Revenge of the Jedi until Lucas decided that Jedi do not seek revenge. This was quite late in the production so there was a lot of promotional gear with the title already printed on it.Mark Hamill received a black eye when filming the famous 'Dianoga' attack in the Trash Compactor scene from A New Hope which meant he was filmed from one side only for the rest shooting that scene.E.T. made a cameo appearance in The Phantom Menace. If you asked the average Star Wars fan what was Leia s homeworld, they would be correct in answering the planet Alderaan and they could go to the head of the class. If you asked the most hardcore fan, they might also quickly add that Leia and Luke were actually born at a medical facility on Polissa Massa if you ve seen Revenge of the Sith you might recall that is where Obi-Wan Kenobi took the injured Padme for medical assistance.ANH famously featured the milk at the Lar's family breakfast scene. Rogue One features the same blue milk in Saw's cavern.Hayden Christensen appeared as the costumed Vader in Revenge of the Sith. He apparently begged Lucas to let him play him.Carrie Fisher spoke many times of her struggles with bipolar disorder. You wouldn't wish this on any anybody.Harrison Ford and Fisher had an affair during the film of A New Hope. Ford was married at the time.Leia's character has her own musical theme titled "Princess Leia's Theme". It is represented by the musical leitmotif method which is famously used across the films. The piece was composed by John Williams and was used several times. It first appeared in A New Hope, heard when Princess Leia is captured by the evil Sith Lord, Darth Vader. Later, it surfaces as R2-D2 plays her holographic message to Obi-Wan Kenobi. The also theme plays when Kenobi is killed by Vader and it makes an appearance in the credits of the movie. It also is used in the two follow up movies and the Revenge of the Sith prequel when her adoptive father Bail Organa introduces her to her adoptive mother. In the original drafts of Star Wars, Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker were definitely different people - it wasn t until the development of the script for The Empire Strikes Back that the two were combined as one character. This means Darth Vader does not mean Dark Father and the name was not a hint as to Luke's parentage. It's a myth that Splinter of the Mind's Eye was the scripted sequel to A New Hope. The truth is the book Splinter of the Mind s Eye was commissioned by Lucas as a potential sequel to Star Wars. The myth is that the novel was written based off a script written by George Lucas. There was no written script at all - Alan Dean Foster was writing the novelisation of Star Wars and also a second book. He was as simply instructed by Lucas to write the book based off some ideas and film treatments that George threw at him. Lucas could then turn it into a film script down the line, if he so chose. The reality is that when Star Wars 'went global' Lucas changed gears and the sequel script was first drafted by Leigh Bracket, which after her death from cancer, Lucas refined further with help from Lawrence Kasdan.Boba Fett was first seen in The Empire Strikes Back right? Nope, technically his first appearance was in an animated segment of The Star Wars Holiday Special. It is the only good part of that movie.Boba also actually made his first public appearance in a Star Wars street parade before either movie!Frank Oz who is the voice for the most famous little green guy in cinema history, Yoda was also the voice of the Muppet s Miss Piggy. It was because of his talents that he developed with Jim Henson that saw him get the call-up. He also did the puppetry.A very early draft of the Empire saw Han Solo going in search of his Father-In-Law, Ovan Marekal, who has political ties with Lord Vader. In Revenge of the Sith Darth Vader's head was symmetrical for the first time in a Star Wars film. It was developed using precise machinery - the original was hand sculpted and was mildly aspherical!George Lucas took a lot of his inspiration from a film called The Hidden Fortress. It featured a pair of bickering sidekicks who served as comic relief and crucially managed to help keep the plot ticking along. Lucas adopted this concept and applied it to the robots.C3PO's most famous quote is perhaps "I suggest a new strategy, Artoo: let the Wookie win." which pretty much speaks for itself! The original drafts for Star Wars show that the Skywalker family was actually called Starkiller. Indeed the drafts featured a General Starkiller and didn t focus on the young moisture farmer from Tatooine. His son was called Deak. He eventually became Luke.In ESB's original script treatment, Luke Skywalker flies to the 'Bog' Planet where he meets a frog-like Jedi named 'Minch', who teaches him the ways of the force. That's right, Yoda was frog-like and was going to be called Minch. Can you image it, "But Master Minch, you cannot die!"A lot of people miss it, thinking the C3PO is totally golden but his right leg is silver from beneath the knee joint. In The Force Awakens he had a red arm for a time but at the end of the movie has gone back to what we presume was the original gold. As for that red arm...George Lucas made his first Star Wars cameo in Revenge of the Sith. He dressed as a Pantoran senator, Baron Papanoida. You might not have recognised him as he all dressed up in blue body paint! His daughter also cameoed with him at the same time. His son Jedi appears as a padwan Jedi that is killed by the Stormtroopers as he attempts to make contact with Bail Organa.Ralph McQuarrie designed C3PO by taking liberty with the Maschinenmensch design from the film Metropolis. The Forbidden Planet s Robby the Robot also was an inspiration for the protocol droid aspect. When Anakin is slaughtering the Tusken Raider in Attack of the Clones, Qui-Gon's voice can be heard in the background. The main character Thrawn from those books eventually featured in the third season of Star Wars: Rebels. It was Donnie Yen's idea for his Rogue One character Chirrut Imwe to be blind. That film was about a dystopian future where an authoritarian regime was in control a not too dissimilar state of affairs in Star Wars."I've got a bad feeling about this" or a variation of it is spoken in every movie. In the Last Jedi, BB8 says it to Poe Dameron in the X-wing attack on the Dreadnaught scene.R2D2 is taller than the Ewok 'Wicket' from ROTJ.Mace Windu is the only Jedi in any film to wield a purple colored lightsaber. Now get out of here." Many Star Wars fans wish he paid attention. What's in a name? The name "Qui Gon" derives from an ancient Chinese system of alternative medicine called "Qigong". The word "Jinn" refers to the "Djinn" or the so-called genies of Arabian myth.Darth Maul has ten horns on his red head.Darth Vader does not mean Dark Father. The name is not a clue of Luke's parentage. The idea that Vader was Luke's father came into life, well after Leigh Bracket wrote the first draft of Empire. While Ray Park is famous as playing the Sith Lord, Peter Serafinowicz actually voiced the character. Benicio Del Toro was originally cast to play Darth Maul but he abandoned the role after George Lucas decided to trim Darth Maul's screen time in the film. Benicio del Toro was originally cast but dropped out. He has a part in Star Wars The Last Jedi as DJ, a slicer of dubious renown.Actor Hayden Christiansen played Darth Vader in Revenge of the Sith as opposed to David Prowse who previously did the role. Hayden apparently begged Lucas to let him play Vader. The suit had to be designed to accommodate his smaller stature than Prowse's. Not that Lucas would have cast Prowse as he appears to have something against him and he was banned from making any appearances at official Star Wars promotional events such as conventions prior to even the first prequel being filmed. The sound of the hovering battle tanks used by the battle droids in The Phantom Menace was created by running an electric razor around a metal salad bowl and then digitally lowering the pitch. In Attack of the Clones, Jar Jar Binks stands in for Senator Amidala and puts forth the motion that gives Palpatine supreme powers. This means that Jar Jar, one of the most universally hated characters in the Star Wars films is unwittingly responsible for the fall of the Old Republic and the downfall of the Jedi.Revenge of the Sith featured 4 hands being cut off in the film. Anakin loses one to Obi Wan, Mace Windu loses one to Anakin and Obi-Wan cuts two of General Grievous' hands off.The sound effect when Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber is kicked down the reactor shaft in the climactic battle with Darth Maul, is the same sound effect heard when Luke Skywalker throws his lightsaber away in Return of the Jedi when he tells the Emperor that he is a Jedi, like his father before him!In Solo, there was originally a fourth member of Beckett's team called Korso but the character was cut in the editing room. You can actually see a few shots of him in the Mimban sequences. Korso was to be killed early on so that Becket would see value in replacing him with Chewbacca.R2D2 was infamously given the ability to fly in the prequel films which bugged many fans (despite the fun he had on screen). This was rather roughly explained in other fiction that after the Clone Wars the company responsible for the development of his boosters went out of business. When his rocket boosters were damaged they were unable to be repaired. The shipping title of Phantom Menace was "The Doll House", Clones was "Cue Ball" and Sith, "The Bridge".The Phantom Menace was the first Star Wars film to be released on DVD."Phantom Menace" was the name of a villain in the "Flash Gordon" comics. This shouldn't surprise too many people as George Lucas has often cited Flash Gordon as one of his inspirations for making the original Star Wars. In the film of Flash Gordon, Max von Sydow played the villain, Ming the Merciless. Sydow, of course, had a turn as The Force Awakens as Lor San Tekka.Admiral Ackbar's backstory is that he was once the slave of Grand Moff Tarkin, as well as his personal pilot. In Solo, Dryden Vos has a set of Mandalorian Battle Armor in his collection on his yacht. The frogs he ate were not real. You know who else eats frogs in the Star Wars universe? Baby Yoda.Jedi was the first Star Wars film to show a light saber combat something other than another light saber. On Jabba's Sail Barge, Luke fights the guards bearing staffs and blasters. This perhaps a call back to the original movie where Luke wears a blaster helmet and tries to anticipate blast shots from the Remote on the Millennium Falcon. This shows the progress Luke has made as a Jedi Knight.SLuke's training remote made a return in The Force Awakens. Finn finds it when he is looking for first aid to help Chewbacca. In The Rise of Sky Walker, Rey trains with one.Daniel Craig, better known as James Bond 007 was the Stormtrooper that freed Rey in The Force Awakens.Billy Dee Williams returned as Lando Calrissian in The Rise of Skywalker making it the 4 fourth time Lando has appeared in a Star Wars film. The Mandalorian's Fennec Shand's name was inspired by a fennec fox. Eventually, it made it made its way for sale on Ebay - at which point Disney stepped in and bought the script before it was sold on the site.In the same vein instead of the Empire finding the Rebel's hideout on Hoth, there was to be a Wampa Attack. Indeed, a scene cut from the film was actually shown in Empire's trailer featured C3PO removing a sign from a door which he hoped Imperial troops would enter and come face to face with captured Wampa. The Hoth scenes were actually shot in Norway.John Wayne's voice was used for the Imperial Spy that gave away Han's location in ANH.In Solo, the theme of the Imperial March can be heard playing on the recruitment film featured at the beginning of the film before Han signs up to the Empire.Warwick Davis, who famously played Wicket as a child in Return of the Jedi, actually had 3 cameo parts in The Phantom Menance!Empire was the first movie to have a number by its title in the opening credits - V. Making it one of the most successful 'independent' films ever.Three characters lose bits of limbs - the Wampa that attacks Luke, C3PO when shot by the Storm Troopers on Cloud City, and of course Luke's hand to Vader's saber.George Lucas took a lot of his inspiration from a film called The Hidden Fortress. It featured a pair of bickering sidekicks who served as comic relief and crucially managed to help keep the plot ticking along. Lucas adopted this concept and applied it to the robots. This is quite amusing as it appears in real life that Kenny Baker and R2D2 didn't get on too well - it's well documented that Daniels has been quite vocal about Baker's attitude. You know that awesome pod racer race in The Phantom Menace? Yep, Lucas was just copying the famous chariot race from Ben Hur. Lucas actually copied from a LOT of movies to make his own one.None of the Star Wars films have credits at the beginning of them. This actually became a really big deal and meant Lucas quit various film institutions such as the Director's Guild and Stars Wars films were considered independent movies as result.Lucas was actually quite good at stealing good ideas. You know that bit where Obi-Wan feels the death of the people on the planet Alderaan? Lucas just took that from a Star Trek episode where Spock felt the death of 400 of his own Vulcan kind.David Lynch was offered the chance to direct Return of the Jedi but turned it down. Can you imagine how crazy Jedi could have turned out if Lynch had cast his magic over the film? Lynch actually chose Dune as his next film, and while it wasn't a universally accepted film, it has gone on to earn its own unique place in film history as a really interesting sci-fi movie. It was also probably just as well that Sting didn't have a role in Jedi either.....Truth be told though, the Dune book had a massive influence on Star Wars.Kenny Baker did not actually film anything for Revenge of the Sith, his parts were a mix of CGI and footage recycled from Attack of the Clones.C3PO's most famous quote is perhaps "I suggest a new strategy, Artoo: let the Wookie win." which pretty much speaks for itself! As a side note, that game between Chewbacca and R2D2 was never finished. When Finn bumps the table in The Force Awakens, it's the same game of Dejarik from A New Hope! That game is also referenced in the Han Solo film.A lot of people miss it, thinking the C3PO is totally golden but his right knee down is silver. In The Force Awakens, he had a red arm for most of the film.Anthony Daniels is the only actor to have appeared in all the original, prequels and sequels. He also did the cameo in Rogue One, meaning he has appeared in 10 films. Daniels also did voice-over work for The Clone Wars film and of courses appeared in many other formats as C3PO - such as Droid Tales, The Lego Movie, Droids, Sesame Street and The Muppet Show!Carrie Fisher's role following her death was made possible by recycling scenes from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi and using some fancy CGI applications.BB-8's new friend is called D-0.Naomi Ackie made her Star Wars debut as Jannah in The Rise of Skywalker. It is speculated that she is the daughter of Lando Calrissian. The film ends with Lando suggesting they try and 'found out'The first teaser trailer of TROS used the same phrasing as The Phantom Menace did - "Every generation has a legend" was repeated. TPH had the line "Every saga has a beginning" whereas TROS shows its intent with "Every saga has an ending".TROS was the ninth and final Star Wars composed by John Williams. This is an incredible feat!George Lucas once envisioned that C3PO and R2D2 would be the only characters that feature in every film in the saga - turns out this would be true. Anthony Daniels also becomes the only actor to appear in all the films as Kenny Baker died. After George Lucas's 4 director credits in the Skywalker saga, only JJ Abrams will have made more than one film.Colin Trevorrow was originally hired to direct the film after his success with Jurassic Park but was fired and JJ was asked to come back.Keri Russel has a long term working relationship with JJ - she was the star of his show Felicity and had a role in Mission Impossible III which JJ directed. Russel's character is called Zorri Bliss. The Force Awakens trilogy is the first Star Wars trilogy where all three films were released in the same decade. The first Rise of Skywalker teaser trailer ended with audio of Emperor Palpatine cackling with laughter. Actor Ian McDiarmid did not record a laugh for that, it was used from old recorded audio. The scenes for this location were filmed in the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan. The beasts the Finn and Jannah ride are called 'orbaks'.While doing promo work for the film, Billy Dee Williams described himself as 'gender fluid'. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. In the scene where C3PO has his memory wiped in Sith, you can see a Prequel Era Battle Droid in the background. Roger! Roger!TROS is the first Star Wars film where Carrie Fisher receives 'top billing'. This is actually just a further confirmation - in the Solo film, L337 refers to Lando directly as Landonis. All that said, he was originally scripted in TESB as having the name of "Lando Kadar"In TLJ, Tom Hardy (Batman, Peaky Blinders) and Gary Barlow (singer from Take That) made cameo appearances as Stormtroopers, however, their scenes were cut (as were those of Prince William and Harry). While theworking title of the TROSwas 'trIXie' it was also referred to as Black Diamond for a time in preproduction. The Bantha milk drank by Luke and Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru in A New Hope is blue! It's become the stuff of Star Wars legend so much so, it was used in Rogue One as well.Anakin Skywalker really is the Chosen one . While Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi may have thought a mistake had been made in the reading of the prophecy, Anakin was the one who actually killed Sith Lord Palpatine by throwing him down the Death Star s reactor shaft in Jedi and thus restored balance to the Force.Carrie Fisher appeared in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. This movie was a weird Kevin Smith homage to Star Wars and featured an appearance by Fisher as a nun and Mark Hamill as a parody of himself. Carrie's cameo was the one that got the laughs.... do you follow the good book?A lot of people forget this but also Fisher appeared in the classic movie When Harry met Sally. She was the 'friend' of Sally who ended up marrying Harry s best friend. See, there is life outside of Star Wars! Fisher also had a cameo in the Blues Brothers! For the prequel film Attack of the Clones, Yoda was performed by Frank Oz. The next two prequels featured a CGI Yoda and the DVD release of Clones saw a CGI version replace the puppet. While many think Yoda had Darth Sidious beat in his famous duel in Revenge of the Sith, it was actually Mace Windu, a former student of Yoda who firmly beat the Sith Lord (of course Anakin came in and ruined it all..).While Qui-Gon Jin theorized that Anakin s virgin birth was the will of the Force, Palpatine implied in Revenge of the Sith that Darth Plagueis caused the birth using the Force - earlier drafts of the ROTS script suggested this was indeed the case. It s non-canon however, so it s only a theory. The Solo script was written by Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon Kasdan. This means that Lawrence has had a hand in writing four Star Wars films (Empire, Jedi, TFA and this Solo). In the original Empire script when Lando is about to lead Han, Leia, and Chewie into the trap laid out by Darth Vader, Lando offers his arm to Leia, as a gesture to lead her down the hallway to which she accepts. Harrison Ford ad-libbed Han rushing up to the Princess and offering his arm to her at the exact same moment to imply that Han was jealous of Lando's gentlemanly actions.Seven people have contributed to the character performance of Darth Vader in the movies. If we go in chronological order - Jake Lloyd played Anakin Skywalker in The Phantom Menace, Hayden Christian played Anni and Darth in the other two prequels, David Prowse was the suit in all three original trilogy films while James Earl Jones did the voice over 4 times (inc Revenge of the Sith). Bob Anderson chipped in with some stunt work in Jedi and Sebastian Shaw famously played the unmasked Vader in Jedi as well. Andrew Nelson was used for a few fill in bits and bobs.'Ello' Asty is so named for JJ Abram's love of the Beastie Boys (refer the use of Sabotage in JJ's first Star Trek film) - they once released an album called Hello Nastyso you can see the inspiration. The original drafts for Star Wars show that the Skywalker family was actually called Starkiller. Indeed the drafts featured a General Starkiller and didn t focus on the young moisture farmer from Tatooine. His son was called Deak. He eventually became Luke. The Ghost ship from Rebels makes an appearance with the General Fleet in Rise of SkywalkerDoes the name Annikin Starkiller sound familiar? That's the character's original name for the Skywalker line.Master Yoda is 66 cm tall. As a comparison, R2D2 stands taller at 96 cm!In the very short lived but brilliant T.V. show Firefly, a model version of Han Solo frozen in carbonite can be seen in many places - the props department would move it around as a running gag. Presumably, this was kind of like how Superman appeared in every episode of Seinfeld.Harrison Ford is the only actor to have appeared in films directed by all three of these directors: Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Francis Ford Coppola. The Coppola film is a short cameo in Apocalypse Now.Yoda's originally scripted name was 'Minch'. Glad Lucas changed it?Everyone assumes Luke only appeared in the three original Star Wars films. People still argue to this day that Lucas always knew Vader was Luke's father!James Earl Jones was the voice of Vader but fans probably didn t know that during the original screenings of the film as his name wasn t included in the credits as it is today. This is apparently because he didn t want his name to be associated with a film that he thought was going to be a flop.Carrie Fisher wrote an actual bestselling novel Postcards from the Edge and screenplay for the film based on her writing. The book was about her drug addiction and her relationship with her mother. Fisher has managed to parlay her writing talent with a few turns at playing script doctor for a few Hollywood movies, most notably Rene Russo's Outbreak.Lord Vader s famous leitmotif theme music is known as The Imperial March and was not introduced until Empire Strikes Back. The famous reveal of the father and son relationship between Vader and Luke is often misquoted as "Luke, I am your father". The line is actually "No, I am your father". It's kind of like how Star Trek's Captain Kirk never actually said: "Beam me up, Scotty".Ben Burt produced Vader's breathing sound effect by placing a microphone inside the mouthpiece of a breathing apparatus and recording it being used by a human. The name Darth Vader does not mean Dark Father.Alden Ehrenreich was the first actor to audition for directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Instead, JJ Abrams is back for a second turn at directing to finish the story he started.Mother Proxima is a White Worm, that name is taken from the Bram Stoker book, The Lair of the White Worm.Miller and Lord's removal paved the way for Ron Howard to finish the Solo film and even reshoot many scenes. This means that this is the first Star Wars film to have ever been directed by an Academy Award winner for Directing. Howard won the Golden Gong for A Beautiful Mind. George Lucas was nominated for the award with A New Hope, which means he was the first Oscar-nominated director of Star Wars when he directed The Phantom Menace.Ron Howard famously turned down George Lucas's offer to direct The Phantom Menace. He also famously defended the movie and its young star. Howard had previously directed Lucasfilm's Willow production. Howard, of course, starred in the George Lucas film, American Graffiti, and its sequel. When Han pulled the eel from out of his pants in Solo, this was a nod to Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade where River Phoenix does the same with a snake. It's a nod to the fact Alden was replacing Ford, as Phoenix did the same in that movie at the begging. Lawrence Kasdan also wrote the Indiana Jones films so it's a great reference. The fighting style 'Teras Kasi' was originally in Rogue One (Saw trained Jyn to fight in that style) but it got cut according to scriptwriter Gary Whitta.Solo refers to Chewbacca as being a moof milker - Solo uses the same insult in The Force Awakens when he says "Hey! Some moof-milker installed a compressor on the ignition line!" The battle on Mimban in Solo was inspired by Stanley Kubrick's, Paths of Glory.Solo was the second Star Wars film to not have a light saber fight.John Howell composed the film score for Solo. This means Howell is only the third composer on a Star Wars film after John Williams and Michael Giacchino (Rogue One).Woody Harrelson was picked over Christian Bale as Solo's mentor, Beckett. Solo is the second time he has been in a Ron Howard directed film. The first was EdTV.While some fans have guessed that Solo, is presumably the movie that Josh Trank had been hired to direct until he was removed from the job due to rumored poor on and offset performance during the ill-fated Fantastic Four reboot, this is not the case. Trank's film was likely a Boba Fett story - either way Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed they changed the order of the Anthology films, confirming that Trank was not directing the Solo movie.Dryden Vos' home base was not originally a ship but an island fortress. It would have featured Lando racing through a series of canals but the idea was dropped as it would have been too hard to get it filmed well. There was a fourth member of Beckett's team called Korso but the character was cut in the editing room. You can actually see a few shots of him in the Mimban sequences. Korso was to be killed early on so that Becket would see value in replacing him with Chewbacca. The working title used during filming was "Red Cup" a reference to the plastic red Solo cups that are popular for drinking beer from at keg parties. The theme of the Imperial March can be heard playing on the recruitment film featured at the beginning of the film before Han signs up to the Empire. The job on the Conveyex originally featured the rescue of a band of criminals destined for prison, not Coaxium. Instead, Paul Bettany was brought in by Howard and the role was filmed in person. Bettany had a major role in Howard's A Beautiful Mind so they already had the connection. Bettany is also quite popular at this time due to his role as Jarvis and Vision in the Avenger movies.30 odd years since Howard directed Warwick Davis in Willow, he directed him again in yet another cameo performance in a Star Wars film. This is Joonas Suotamo's second full gig playing Chewbacca after his first turn in The Last Jedi. Suotomo played Chewbacca officially as a body double in The Force Awakens - it is speculated he did any parts where Chewbacca was walking, this was due to the ill health (bad knees) of the original Chewbacca, Peter Mayhew.Dryden Vos has a set of Mandalorian Battle Armor in his collection on his yacht. This is the same style of armour made famous by bounty hunter Boba Fett. The Solo movie establishes that Chewbacca is 190 years old.The Golden Idol (Fertility Idol) from the opening scene where Indiana steals it in Raiders Of The Lost Ark can be seen sitting on a table in the meeting room of Paul Bettany's character Dryden Vos. Silver had a relationship with Jim Hawkins and the Solo / Beckett relationship mirrors that. In the same vein, scriptwriters also likened the relationship to that of Val Kilmer's and Bobby De Niro's characters relationships in Michael Mann's Heat.Emilia Clarke made her name as the 'Mother of Dragons' in Game of Thrones - her appearance in this film means she is the tenth actor from that series to have a part in Star Wars - many of those roles were cameos, however Clarke's role is a starring part as Qi'ra, a love interest for Han.Emperor Palpatine's return in TROS despite his supposed death at the hands of Anakin Skywalker in Jedi means the character has appeared 6 times in Star Wars.Peter Cushing filmed all his scenes as Grand Moff Tarkin wearing slippers.Solo is the first Star Wars film to not use the word 'Jedi'.It spans 6 years, meaning it has the longest time frame of any Star Wars movie (The opening scene from Rogue One excluded...)Rogue One was the first Star Wars film to not feature a Skywalker of any kind.Warwick Davis reprised his role as Weasel from The Phantom Menace. He played the same character as a member of Enys Nest's gang of marauders.Did you spy the dice in Han's land speeder? They are the ones that make it on to the Falcon. They become a minor plot point in The Last Jedi and can be seen in a deleted scene of The Force Awakens.Jason Bourne scriptwriter Tony Gilroy did extensive rewrites and reshoots on Rogue One, so much so he gained a credit for the script and is considered to have saved the moving from being a box office flop. Here s the chronological order of the Star Wars films.Beckett's sudden but inevitable betrayal at the end is meant to rhyme with Han returning to save Luke at the end of A New Hope. Jon Kasdan says that in both movies the older, wiser character had to reluctantly leave and come back suddenly. The difference being the betrayal compared to Han proving himself a hero.Val mentions 'Bossk'. This is the bounty hunter seen in the line up of hunters during The Empire Strikes Back.Enfys Nest's character name leaked due to promotional material slipping out.Lando's "cape closet" was an idea from the original directors. The scene with Han and Qi'ra was a nod to a similar scene Han and Leia had in the avionics room in The Empire Strikes Back.In The Rise of Skywalker, Billy Dee Williams wears a costume very similar to Lando's 'yellow suit' from this fill which is a great call back to a 'must have' fashion item...In Solo, Warwick Davis reprised his role as Weasel from The Phantom Menace. He played the same character as a member of Enfys Nest's gang of marauders. When Han is caught in the mud during his first encounter with Chewie in Solo, his pose is very similar to the one of him in the frozen block of carbonite in The Empire Strikes Back. The creature the Falcon encounters in the Kessel Run is called a Summa-Verminoth. This means that Jar Jar, one of the most universally hated characters in the Star Wars films is unwittingly responsible for the fall of the Old Republic and the downfall of the Jedi.Revenge of the Sith featured a lot of hands being cut off. Anakin loses one to Obi-Wan, Mace Windu loses one to Anakin, and Obi-Wan cuts two of General Grievous' hands off and Dooku loses two to Anakin. The sound effect when Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber is kicked down the reactor shaft in the climactic battle with Darth Maul, is the same sound effect heard when Luke Skywalker throws his lightsaber away in Return of the Jedi. You know, when he tells the Emperor that he is a Jedi, like his father before him!Wedge Antiles makes a cameo of sorts in Rogue One. The voice actor for the character, David Ankrum, was brought in to do act as the Public Address voice for the scenes featuring the Rebel Base. Ankrum can be heard telling the Rebels to board their ships.George Lucas made his first and only Star Wars cameo in Revenge of the Sith. He dressed as a Pantoran senator, Baron Papanoida. You might not have recognized him as he all dressed up in blue body paint! His daughter also cameoed with him at the same time. This is perhaps to mirror his rhyming (ring theory) throughout the films as Return of the Jedi director Richard Marquand made a cameo in The Return of the Jedi. When Anakin is slaughtering the Tusken Raider in Attack of the Clones, Qui-Gon's voice can be heard in the background yelling "Anakin! Anakin!". This is no accident as Qui-Gon Jinn's Force-Ghost was trying to stop Anakin's rage but clearly failed. The shipping title of Phantom Menace was "The Doll House", Clones was "Cue Ball" and Sith, "The Bridge".Revenge of the Sith is the only Star Wars film thus far that does not feature R2D2 in the final shot (and Rogue One and Solo if they count!).In Revenge of the Sith, Anakin famously slices off Count Dooku's hands - look clearly once Dooku is dead and you can see them lying on the floor.Anthony Daniels did a cameo in Attack of the Clones - check him out in the bar scene where the assassin is caught.George Lucas took a lot of his inspiration for Star Wars from a film called The Hidden Fortress (amongst other things). It featured a pair of bickering sidekicks who served as comic relief and crucially managed to help keep the plot ticking along. Lucas adopted this concept and applied it to the C3PO and R2D2. The two loosely serve to tell the tale of Star Wars from their viewpoint and naturally make a few saves along the way.Robby the Robot from The Forbidden Planet movie also inspired Lucas, especially the fact that Robby was a protocol droid. The band that plays the famous "Cantina' music in ANH is called Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes. The bald players are known as Biths. You can hire them for weddings.C-3PO has the first line in A New Hope (Did you hear that? They've shut down the main reactor) and the last line in the Revenge of the Sith (oh no!), neatly tying the two trilogies together. You know that bit where Obi-Wan feels the death of the people on the planet Alderaan? Lucas just took that from a Star Trek episode where Spock felt the death of 400 of his own Vulcan kind.Although Count Dooku is the main villain and is mentioned in the opening crawl of Attack of the Clones he does not actually make his first appearance until 76 minutes into the film. Before Anakin beheaded Dooku in the opening act of Revenge of the Sith, he cut off his arms, making him the 5th person to lose an arm in the franchise. This is in terms of order of the films coming out. If you go chronological order he was the third after Zam Wessel and Anakin.Christopher Lee played Dracula opposite A New Hope's Peter Cushing as Dr. Van Helsing in a few movies. While Count Dooku had taken his vow of being a Sith Lord and was so named Darth Tyranus, the novel of the film sheds some light on the plan he and Darth Sidious had been running. The two of them had intended to turn Anakin to the Dark Side to get and get him to lead a Sith Army. However, when Anakin had over powered him and was urged to kill him by Sidious, Tyranus realised Palpatine had never truly intended for him to be his apprentice but had merely been using him as a means to engineer the war and as a placeholder for his true intended apprentice, Anakin. When he was a Jedi, Dooku's first padawan was The Phantom Menace's Qui Gon Jinn.Dooku was at one time in scripting considered to be a female sith. The rejected concepts for this idea were eventually channeled into the development of Asajj Ventress, who appeared regularly in the animated Clone Wars show.Count Dooku only speaks a total of four lines in Revenge of the Sith!Due to Lee's age when filming his role, Kyle Rowling portrayed Dooku during most of the character's lightsaber sequences, Rowling's head was digitally replaced with Lee's during post-production work.In TLJ When Luke is projecting himself to Crait from the Island there are two clues for the viewer to understand this is happening. The first is his beard is brown and he appears younger - this is the same look as when he last saw Kylo Ren at the 'Jedi Academy' flashback. The second clue is while Kylo's feet where disturbing the red salt during the confrontation, when Luke walked over the same ground, no red salt was disturbed.Poe Dameron's name is inspired by JJ's longtime assistant Morgan Dameron.Christopher Lee appears in the Clone Wars film, doing the voice of his character. In the Attack of the Clones scene where Count Dooku visits his prisoner Obi-Wan Kenobi and tries in vain to recruit him to his side was not in the original shooting script. This scene was filmed during reshoots and was designed to deceive the film viewer into thinking that Dooku may not be an evil character after all. Other scenes had been filmed that showed a trial for our captured heroes where Dooku's allegiances were firmly established.Admiral Ackbar was intended by Gary Whitta to lead the assault on Scariff however JJ Abrams beat him to the punch and used him in TFA. Gary was quoted as saying We didn t want to use him again after The Force Awakens. So Ackbar became Admiral Raddus."George Lucas took script inspiration from many areas - including 19 films.Marcia Griffin was George s wife - she famously was the editor of the film and won an Oscar for her efforts. In Jedi, the green Twilek Oola has a nipple slip and George Lucas left it in every time Jedi was re-released. Maybe the Rancor was supposed to distract us?In Revenge of the Sith, all filmed shots of C3PO had the green screen set reflecting in his shiny gold armor, so digital effects artists in post-production had to digitally redo C3PO's armour frame by frame to remove any traces of the green reflection.Legend has it that Carrie Fisher had a massive drug problem during the filming of Return of the Jedi. Cocaine was apparently her powder of choice. In Jedi, you can see she wears an extra long fingernail which is just a perfect instrument to assist with the distribution of nose candy up the nose.Carrie Fisher has spoken many times about her struggles with bipolar disorder. You wouldn't wish this on anybody. Watch this interview she did with the great Steven Fry. It gives a frightening context in how she struggled with this illness.Princess Leia was subject to one of the most famous ad-libs in cinema history - that being Han Solo's response to her declaration of love - "I know". Harrison Ford apparently made it up at Irvine Kershner's suggestion. Leia got to return the line in Jedi during the Battle of Endor. After Han Solo grabbed herAccording to Fisher in her novel, The Princess Diarist, she and Harrison Ford had a three-month long fling during the making of A New Hope. She was the 'friend' of Sally who ended up marrying Harry s bestCarrie Fisher's mother is actually a famous actress in her own right, DebbieFisher was once married to one half of Simon and Garfunkel. It was Simon.Leia's golden metal bikini that she wore while strangling the slug Jabba the Hutt in Return of Jedi is perhaps one of the most famous bikini in the history of bikinis. Its iconic status in film history is perhaps only rivaled by Ursula Andress s exit from the beach in James Bond s Dr No. Many women (and the odd male!) like to dress as Leia and attend conventions dressed in the bikini. In Solo, Val mentions 'Bossk'. This is the Trandoshian bounty hunter seen in the line up of hunters during The Empire Strikes Back. We finally see Trandoshians in action in The Mandalorian - a group of them attack the Bounty Hunter as he is transporting 'baby yoda'.Leia says the last line of the movie Rogue One "What Is It They've Sent Us? Hope." It's a clever set up for the title of A New Hope and ties in thematically well. In saying this last line, that takes Leia's tally of saying the final line of a Star Wars movie to three - the other two being The Force Awakens and Return of the Jedi.Fisher appeared post humously in The Rise of Skywalker as Leia. JJ Abram worked her into the script by using deleted scenes and out-takes from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Rian said "Twelve O Clock High was a big touchstone, for the feel and look of the aerial combat as well as the dynamic between the pilots. And To Catch A Thief was a great film to rewatch, for the romantic scale and grandeur".Canto Bight is on a planet called Cantonica. It is not named in The Last Jedi.Carrie Fisher's sudden death in December 2016 meant she had not completed her audio dialogue re-recording parts for TLJ. The sound team had to take snippets of her work "from here and there" to get the job done.Rian Johnson asked JJ Abrams for a Force Awakens script change to allow R2D2 to accompany Rey to Ach-to Island instead of BB8. When she is drawn into the dark side of the island, that's probably her first time submerged in salt water or perhaps even swimming. Remember, there was not a lot of water on Jakku. In The Force Awakens, Christopher Lee's niece played Doctor Kalonia! The doctor that tends to Chewbacca's arm wound would have been well known to British Star Wars fans as she was played by Dame Harriet Walter, a renowned stage and screen actress. There's a nice piece of symmetry here in that her uncle was Christoper Lee who played Count Dooku in two Star Wars films. The Starkiller base name was inspired by that word being the original scripted last name of Luke Skywalker. On Jakku in TFA, you can spot an old pod rusting racer - a nod to the great race in The Phantom Menace.Jabba the Hutt who had a brief cameo during the pod race scene in The Phantom Menace is listed in the credits as being played by "himself".In the prequel Rogue One, Jyn Erso reads out the list of data file names - one is 'hyperspace tracking' - this shows it was a 'thing' in the Star Wars universe and not just a gimmick invented by Rian Johnson in The Last Jedi. The famous reveal of the father and son relationship between Vader and Luke in The Empire Strikes Back is often misquoted as "Luke, I am your father". Phasma wears a black cape with red trim, the colours of the First Order. Given that Phasma was inspired by the Boba Fett character it's no surprise she has a cape as the original idea for Fett was to have him wear a cape / poncho in the style of The Man with no Name from Clint Eastward's Spaghetti Westerns. At one stage Carrie Fisher had not read The Force Awaken s script but was desperate too. She tried to bribe costume designer Michael Kaplan to divulge details with a chance to see the red shoes from the Wizard of Oz that Fisher s mother owned. Kaplan while tempted, he kept his mouth shut and never saw the shoes. The late and great John Wayne's voice was used in ANH - an old recording was manipulated and used for the Imperial spy Garindan - that's the guy with the big black nose that informs the Stormtroopers as to Luke and company's whereabouts. It's quite a cool bit of trivia when you understand that Wayne's The Searchers had a strong influence on the movie. In Saw Gerrera's cave in Rogue One there are paintings of monsters from director Gareth Edward's prior movies, Monsters and Godzilla.Solo was the first Star Wars film to not use the word 'Jedi'.Rogue One sets up how Luke eventually gets the call sign 'Rogue-Five'. You know, when he tells the Emperor that he is a Jedi, like his father before him!In The Force Awakens when Han Solo calls out to Kylo Ren using his real name of Ben, this is a direct reference to Obi-Wan Kenobi for he was known as Old Ben during his time on Tatooine as he looked over Luke.Leia's character has her own musical theme titled "Princess Leia's Theme". It also is used in the two follow up movies and the Revenge of the Sith prequel when her adoptive father Bail Organa introduces her to her adoptive mother.Anakin Skywalker really is the Chosen one . She sees him from afar when she's escaping the Death Star and Obi-Wan is about to let Darth Vader kill him but that's it. Unless you count Obi-Wan being present for her birth in Revenge of the Sith Cara Dune is the bad ass Rebel Shock Trooper that gives Mando some grief before teaming up to save the fishing village by bringing down the AT-ST. Played by Dead Pool actress Gina Carano, we suspect the character's name is a play on Carano's last name and a subtle to reference to the Dune novel which had a massive influence on the original scripting of A New Hope. When Han is caught in the mud during his first encounter with Chewie in Solo, his pose is very similar to the one of him in the frozen block of carbonite in The Empire Strikes Back.Frank Oz who is the voice for the most famous little green guy in cinema history, Yoda was also the voice of the Muppet s Miss Piggy. The Ewoks thus came into play for this reason and also apparently it was thought a lot of kiddie friendly Ewok teddy bears and associated merchandise could be sold. You saw Caravan of Courage right? The Wookie were eventually seen on their home planet of Kashyyyk in Revenge of the Sith. Will we see Luke in Episode IX?R2D2 had a wee moment in Star Trek Into Darkness where he was spied being flung into space in an explosion. This also happened in Abram's first Star Trek movie. How did this happen? A certain company called ILM may have done the special effects CGI on both films!Contrary to popular belief, the city where Qui-Gon discovers a young Anakin is not the famous spaceport of Mos Eisley, but a different place called Mos Espa. Many of these were removed from the final version of the film. He featured in a cartoon segment but his first public appearance was in a parade:Blue Harvest was the working / filming title of Return of the Jedi.Grand Moff Tarkin plays a very small cameo in Revenge of the Sith. He steps out from side to confer with the Emperor and Vader. The book Splinter of the Mind s Eye was commissioned by Lucas as a potential sequel to Star Wars. The myth is that the novel was written based on a script written by George Lucas. There was no written script at all - Alan Dean Foster was writing the novelization of Star Wars and also the second book. He was as simply instructed by Lucas to write the book based on some ideas and film treatments that George threw at him.Lucas could then turn it into a film script down the line if he so chose. The reality is that when Star Wars 'went global' Lucas changed gears and the sequel script was first drafted by Leigh Bracket, which after her death from cancer, Lucas refined further with help from Lawrence Kasdan.Chewbacca doesn't say a word of English in any of the films he s been in.Admiral Thrawn s appearance in season 3 of Star Wars Rebels marks the first occasion that an extended universe character has been placed in the new formal Star Wars Canon. We believe that the second character to do get this kind of treatment was Saw in Rogue One going from Clones to the Big Screen.Thrawn's species is 'Chiss'. All Chiss are human like in their physical appearance, save the blue skin and red eyes. The name "Coruscant" was originally used by Timothy Zahn. George Lucas was going to include the capital world of Had Abbadon in Return of the Jedi, but adopted Zahn's name for Imperial Center when presenting the planet in the Special Edition and prequel movies.Zahn has said that Thrawn's character is a composite of various historical and fictional personalities, including Erwin Rommel, Robert E. Lee, Hannibal Barca, Alexander the Great, and Sherlock Holmes. Some of those names are the greatest military leaders of history. The Secret History of Star Wars by Michael Kaminski credits the Thrawn trilogy with reigniting the general public's interest with the Star Wars franchise. In Solo, the dude that L337 harangues when the droids are doing a cage fight? That's director Ron Howard's brother, Clint Howard doing a cameo. The Force Awakens' Captain Phasma's final armour 'look' was at one time a conceptual design for Kylo Ren. Phasma's chrome armour is said to be taken from a space yacht built on the planet Naboo that Palpatine owned. The suit is thus able to repel radiation however Phasma used the recycled chrome as a symbol of might and power.Denis Lawson who famously played X-Wing pilot Wedge is the real life uncle of Ewan McGregor who played Obi Wan Kenobi in the prequel films! The wise wizard Gandalf from Lord of the Rings was a huge influence on the character of Obi Wan Kenobi - so much so that an early draft of the Star Wars script featured lines cribbed directly from the pages of Tolkien! For the Phantom Menace, an early idea that George Lucas had was for Qui-Gon Jinn to have long white hair. In hindsight that was a wise choice as it sounds that would have been too much like Gandalf the White. In The Force Awakens, no one loses a limb on screen, a first for a Star Wars film. Given the franchise's long tradition of characters losing limbs, The Force Awakens was the first Star Wars movie where no one loses an arm. In the novelisation of the film there is a scene where Ankar Plutt arrives at Maz Kanata's castle to retrieve the stolen Millennium Falcon. Chewbacca intervenes when Plutt accosts Rey and rips his arm off. The scene was filmed but cut for the final edit. The scene was released with the DVD/BLU Ray.Captain Phasma s chrome armour costume is said to be taken from a space yacht built on the planet Naboo that Sith Lord Palpatine once owned. The suit is thus able to repel radiation however Phasma used the recycled chrome as a symbol of might and power and to intimidate. The first view of Mos Eisley in Star Wars where Obi Wan delivers his famous quote about it being a place of villany and scum, is was shot from a place called Death Valley in California from what is known as Dante's View. with a matte painting added in the distance to create the visual. The name of the famous cantina is Chalmun's Cantina. A well known haunt of freighter pilots and a host of other dangerous characters it is where Han shot Greedo first and where Obi Wan cut off Ponda Baba's arm.In 1974, the not yet famous director Steven Spielberg approached Williams to compose the music for his feature directorial debut, The Sugarland Express. They teamed up again a year later for Spielberg's second film, Jaws. This success led to Spielberg recommending Williams' services as a composer to George Lucas, who needed a composer to score Star Wars. The rest is history.Speilberg and Lucas swapped some points on Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind due to Lucas s concern he had made a box office flop. Lucas was famously wrong and Speilberg made a fortune from the exchange.Speilberg actually gave Lucas a lot of advice on the editing of the film.He was even a second unit director on Revenge of the Sith.Orson Krennic s name is probably a reference to Orson Welles. In The Mandalorian show, the Mando returns to this Canatina when he meets Toro Calican. He is sitting posed like Han Solo was in ANH with his legs up on the table.Despite being one of the most famous and well known villains in the history of movie making, Darth Vader actually has only 12 minutes of screen time in A New Hope! That's four minutes less than the screen time of Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs - and Anthony Hopkins got an Oscar for the part! What an impact Vader has had.David Lynch was offered the chance to direct Return of the Jedi but turned it down. Can you imagine how crazy Jedi could have turned out if Lynch had cast his magic over the film? Lynch actually chose Dune as his next film, and while it wasn't an amazing film, it has gone on to earn its place in film history. It was also probably just as well that Sting didn't have a role in Jedi either.....Rogue One is the first Star Wars movie where the title of the movie is said. Bodhi Rook says it, confirming the title of the movie is a call sign.Everyone assumes Luke only appeared in the three original Star Wars films. Think about if for a moment and you ll realise Skywalker appears a baby at the end of Revenge of the Sith following Padme Amidala giving birth to him and Leia at the medical facility on Poliss Massa. In the original drafts of Star Wars, Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker were definitely different people - it wasn t until the development of the Empire treatment that the two were combined as one character. The sound effect when Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber is kicked down the reactor shaft in the climatic battle with Darth Maul, is the same sound effect heard when Luke Skywalker throws his lightsaber away in Return of the Jedi when he tells the Emperor that he is a Jedi, like his father before him!In Solo, did you see the dice in Han's land speeder? They are the ones that make it on to the Falcon. They become a minor plot point in The Last Jedi and can be seen a deleted scene of The Force Awakens. The symbol of the Rebel Alliance is called the "Starbird" and is sometimes described as a rising Phoenix. It was adopted in recognition of the work Galen Marek did in helping found the Alliance. It was originally the Marek family's emblem. This name should not be confused with Galen from Rogue One. This probably means the original reasoning for this alliance symbol is no longer canon but until George Lucas personally calls me on this point, it's staying. When Lando and Becket talk about how Beckett killed Aurra Sing, they are making a reference to the character that can be briefly glimpsed in The Phantom Menace. Aurra Sing featured in The Clone Wars show.In Solo, Lando muses that 'mining colonies are the worst' it's a joke to the audience about where Lando ends up as the Administrator of one in The Empire Strikes Back.Solo is the first Star Wars film where R2D2 and C3PO do not show up. Anthony Daniels does however do a cameo in the Spice Mines scenes, playing Sagwa, one of the Wookies that Chewie saves. In TLJ When Luke raps Rey over the knuckles with the plant, that's a call back to when Yoda trained Luke in Empire.Myth - Lucas had 12 films all mapped out before the first Star Wars was released. That s the legend but the mythology of it has grown over the years. The nutshell is that Lucas wrote a great deal of material when he was developing his little sci-fi adventure. Based around the so called Journal of Whills , Lucas script eventually was cut up and Star Wars as we know it was filmed. It was not until Empire Strikes Back came out that the term Episode 5 was mentioned officially. Lucas s grand vision was actually pieced together over several years in very broad strokes. The 12 or 9 films as most people know of were never fully scripted but were largely imaginings of Lucas that were eventually firmly realized well after 1977.The Mandalorian series was largely is written by Iron Man veteran Jon Favreau. His prior connection to the Star Wars universe was voicing the character Pre Vizsla on Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The Mandalorian's rifle was inspired by the rifle that Boba Fett had on his person in the animation segment of infamous The Star Wars Holiday Special. The dude frozen in carbonite at the end of the line of blocks in Episode One is Moralo Eval who was featured in The Clone Wars.Disney canceled the ill fated Josh Trank directed Bobba Fett feature film in favour of The MandalorianThe creature of the same species as Yoda that is 'rescued' by the Mandalorian represents the third time such a creature has been spied in a Star Wars feature - Yoda of course, and Yaddle from the original version of The Force Awakens and now 'Baby Yoda'.Mandalorian Lead actor Pedro Pascal was the thirteenth actor from Game of Thrones to appear in the Star Wars franchise.Producer Jon Favreau gave Pascal the esteemed films of director Akira Kurosawa to watch before filming began. Kurosawa's films inspired George Lucas's original script for A New Hope.Writer and producer Jon Favreau had written four of the scripts for The Mandalorian before he even had a deal to make the show! The reference to Life Day in the Mandalorian is the second 'new canon' reference to the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special television movie - the same one which Boba Fett first appeared in. The other reference was in the Solo film where we learned Chewbacca's father's name.In episode 1 of The Mandalorian, The Big Bang Theory s Brian Posehn plays the snowbound speeder Lyft driver who gets eaten by the ice creature.R1 Character 'Saw Gerrera' originally featured in Star Wars: Clone Wars television show. Gerrera is played by Oscar winner, Forrest Whitaker. In S1E2 - when the Jawa drops the item on Mando's head - a distinctive bell clanging sound is heard - this is a straight lift from the classic Looney Tunes style of comedy when a dropped anvil hits someone's head.In Rogue One, Genevieve O'Reilly reprised her role as Mon Mothma, whom she previously played in Revenge of the Sith. You might not know it though as her scenes were cut! You can find them on the DVD and Youtube.Garry Whitta filmed a cameo as a pilot for R1 but his moment was cut.Episode 4 of The Mandalorian was directed by Bryce Dallas Howard - star of the Jurassic Park remakes and the daughter of Ron Howards - who directed the Solo film. The container in which the Imperial Steel is held (referred to as a Contomo) is actually the same as the infamous 'ice-cream maker' that was carried during the evacuation of Cloud City in The Empire Strikes Back:The Mandolorian s pistol weapon is modeled on a Bergmann pistol. In the same vein, the joystick in the Razor Crest is a commonly used Thrustmaster joystick.Mando Season One: Episode 4: Sanctuary is basically one giant reference to The Magnificent Seven and the film that inspired it, The Seven Samurai. This is classic Star Wars - many Western films have inspired the past films (John Wayne 's cowboy in The Searchers for example) and the Mandalorian is not short on positioning itself as a Western.Bossk s suit from Empire was a high pressure suit used by RAF pilots. In Empire, before Darth Vader s arrival, there was to be a Wampa Attack on the Hoth Rebel base. Indeed, a cutscene that was reference in Empire's trailer featured C3PO removing a sign from a door which he hoped Imperial troops would enter and come face to face with captured Wampa. The Hoth scenes of that movie were actually shot in Norway.Empire was the first movie to have a number by its title in the opening credits - V. The original Star War was not called A New Hope or Episode 4, this came later.C3PO's most famous quote is perhaps "I suggest a new strategy, Artoo: let the Wookie win." which pretty much speaks for itself! As a side note, that game between Chewbacca and R2D2 was never finished. When Finn bumps the table in The Force Awakens, it's the same game of Dejarik from A New Hope! That game is also referenced in the Han Solo film. When Obi-Wan finds General Grievous on the planet Utapau, his first words are, "Hello, there." This is exactly what said when he first met R2-D2 in ANH. It's now a famous internet meme Harrison Ford's ex-wife, Melissa Mathison, wrote the script for the Speilberg film "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial".The award Han and Luke receive at the end of Star Wars is called the Alderaanian Medal of Freedom. Which is nice as they are on the planet Yavin.... (because they can't be on Alderaan. Which makes me wonder where they got enough official medals from...).Behind the production scenes, Wedge's character has been a bit all over the place. In the original film, Antilles was played by two British actors: Colin Higgins and Denis Lawson, however, they vocal contributions were non-existent as they were both dubbed with the voice of American David Ankrum! Legend has it that Higgins had not learned his lines (the original script had more than was featured in the movie) and so he was fired and replaced by Lawson.Fun fact: Anthony Daniels voiced Legolas in Ralph Bakshi's animated film version of The Lord of the Rings. In Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Qui-Gon Jinn's voice is heard shouting "Anakin! Anakin!" passing through the Force when master Yoda senses wayward Anakin Skywalker's slaughter of the Tuskens. The novelization of the film narrates this is the first time that Yoda encounters a Jedi's spirit who has passed into the Force. Near the end of Revenge of the Sith Yoda reveals to Obi-Wan that Qui-Gon has "returned from the netherworld of the Force" to teach them how to become one with the Force. Yoda and Obi-Wan receive this training during their exile on the planets of Dagobah and Tatooine.Rogue One s working title was 'Los Alamos'.Yoda was not originally intended to be in Return of the Jedi, but he was added after consultation with child psychologists helped George Lucas decide he needed an independent character to confirm Darth Vader's claim that he is Luke Skywalker's father. Now you know why Yoda doesn't do much for the rest of the movie. That and the fact he died of old age.Ben Kingsley, who played the title role in the 1982 movie Gandhi, read for the role of Emperor Palpatine and was considered very English. That said, Palpatine was eventually played be Englishman Ian McDiarmid... there's a reason why so many English actors are in Star Wars. There's a really cool connection to the classic sci-fi film, The Day the Earth Stood Still. That film's alien character was called Klaatu. In Jedi, the mechanic on Jabba's sail barge is named the same as tribute to the film.Visual effects legend John Knoll came up with the story for Rogue One. He pitched it to Kathleen Kennedy and the rest is history.Rogue One s first draft was Garry Whitta. Screenwriter and director Christopher McQuarrie did a two week pass on the script post Whitta's effort. McQuarrie is best known for winning an Oscar for scripting The Usual Suspects and has had a strong career since so his involvement is notable. Then Tony Gilroy came in and rewrote and reshot the ending, saving the movie.Given Gilroy s rescue job, he s been given a shot at helming the Cassian Andor s spin off show.A New Hope won six Academy Awards.Lucas was nominated for Best Director but did not win the Oscar.Empire only won one for Best Sound.Tony Gilroy is the voice questioning Bodhi Rook on the U-Wing, which led to the pilot coming up with the call sign Rogue One .Treat Williams has a small cameo in The Empire Strikes Back - he s in a Hoth scene. How did Captain Phasma get her name? The Force Awakens' director JJ Abrams named Phasma because of the amazing chrome design that came from Michael Kaplan s wardrobe design team. It reminded him of the murderous silver ball in the film Phantasm.Leia kissed Han Solo 8 times across the film saga. The famous poster for The Empire Strikes Back which was modeled on Gone With the Wind:.Carrie Fisher did a Play Boy magazine article where she mused Darth Vader might be gay...In A New Hope, Leia knew they were being tracked - she was betting the farm they could do something with the stolen plans. In Return of the Jedi, Luke wears a lot of black clothing - this is to help suggest he s heading down towards the dark side of the Force. Once, he s bested his father and announced he is a Jedi, like his father - we see underneath his costume is white - signaling that underneath his stresses, Luke was always the good guy.Carrie Fisher closed out three Star Wars films with Princess Leia saying the last line. The bounty hunter losing her arm in the beginning of Clones mirrors the Wampa losing his arm at the beginning of Empire - both moments serve to foreshadow Luke and Anakin Skywalker each losing a limb their respective film. When Luke is projecting himself to Crait from the Island in the Last Jedi there are two clues for the viewer to understand this. The first is his beard is brown and he appears younger - this is the same look as when he last saw Kylo Ren at the 'Jedi Acadmey'. The second clue is while Kylo's feet were disturbing the red salt during the confrontation, when Luke walked over it, no red salt was disturbed. You could also argue that fact there was a short close up of Luke' X-Wing rusting away underwater was a sign he couldn't have traveled via space to Crait.HAN. SHOT. FIRST.Wow, you made it this far!
