We remain dedicated to making decisions, not based on emotion and fear, but rather on the best data available and the expert advice of our partners in public health. We also are committed to doing our best, whenever possible, to strike the right balance for our community. It is paramount that we keep our students, teachers and community safe. Nothing is more important than protecting lives.We also know that being out of school is having a significant impact on our students and families. We hope you and your family are safe and well during these crazy times.Knight Crew is Fairview’s freshmen transition program and we wanted to give you a quick update on our plans for the freshmen transition this year. First, we wanted to wish you the warmest welcome to the Fairview Community! We are excited that you will be joining us. We are uncertain what the future will hold for us and if we will be able to come together in person, but we are creating many different plans for all the varied scenarios presented to us.At this point, we do not anticipate our traditional Fairview Orientation Day welcome. This consists of a large group orientation, breakout sessions, a tour of the building, lunch, a large club/ activity/ sports fair, and a mock run through the daily schedule to find and meet teachers. Instead, we will be providing a shortened welcome, where students will come to a small group in-person orientation. Incoming freshmen will be linked with an upperclassmen 360 leader to establish a connection to the school and a small group of freshmen, ending with a short tour of the school building. For families who are not comfortable meeting in-person, we will establish a virtual orientation, covering all of the same components, excluding the short tour of the campus. This option provides opportunities for students to connect with an upperclassman who will help guide students throughout the high school transition, additionally connecting some students for much needed social contact.When Fairview is cleared for a “normal” school day, then we will have another opportunity for these students to become familiar with the campus.We wanted to connect and let our community know that we are busy planning the transition program, and we will provide you with updates on how to select the option that best fits your family’s needs. Although we do not know what that will look like yet, we wanted you to know that we are working hard to make the transition as easy as possible with the most flexibility.We are so excited to welcome you all to our community and are eagerly anticipating the day we can safely come together. If you have not done so please log in to Naviance and complete these tasks so the registrar knows where to send your transcript. If this is not completed your transcripts will not be sent which could cause delays in your institution receiving required materials.There are no rush orders and the office is closed for summer break so please plan accordingly or you may have to wait until August for your request to be completed.If you are not attending a traditional college represented in Naviance: you may email a request to our registrar:Ms. Staci Sena at [email protected]If the student is 18 or over the STUDENT is required to make the request for their records.We do not send a copy of transcripts home to students and families.
