Ingegnere Sebastiano Russotti, One of Italys best known hoteliers is about to open the 75 room Ortea Palace 5star Luxury hotel.Ortea of Greek mythology reminiscent of Sicilys Greco Romaine heritage. Sicily currently has 7 UNESCO Heritage sites, and is a fascinating place to visit Syracuse,  is a UNESCO World Heritage site. From ancient Greek times Syracuse has been a part of history.  .Ortygia has some splendid buildings, in a glorious pale peach coloured local stone, surrounded by the sea.   When the Italian Government put up for sale the old Art Deco Syracuse Post Office, (originally designed by the Italian Architecte Francesco Fichera in 1920, with works by the sculptor Florio..) there was a fierce battle to acquire a prestigious prime site on the charming harbour of Ortygia, on the romantic, turquoise Ionian sea.  Sebastiano Russotti was the successful bidder,  already owner of the successful hotels,  Milan Marriot, Rome Marriot Park, the Hilton Naxos, ( near beautiful Taormina in Sicily) his original plan of 40 odd rooms was converted into a substantial undertaking of 75 rooms. At over 80 years of age this adventurous entrepreneur kept essential authentic Art Deco features whilst he undertook to gut the building so that exceptional hotel rooms could be incorporated into the fabric of the old building, which is decorated to the highest modernist standards, respecting all the international standards norms. (fire.WIFI. etc) See the fabulous polycarbonate chandeliers that seem inspired by the Chihuly fountain chandeliers in the V.. A. and the luxury marble flooring throughout the hotel. The comfortably sized top floor suites have large panoramique windows that ensure  fantastic views over the harbour, beautiful sea and cream stone city. The hotel is designed to offer all day dining.The hotel has been designed inside to hold World class conferences.  It also has an impressive wine cellar and a swimming pool gym. In some of the rooms we noticed glamourous Rubelli fabrics and specially designed furniture.

Russottfinance today owns large hotels, all of which are built and managed under the brand names of major international hotel chains: the Hilton Hotel of Giardini Naxos with 296 rooms overlooking  ​​the Bay of Taormina, the Rome Marriott Park Hotel in Rome, with 601 rooms, immersed in a lush Mediterranean park of 7.5 hectares between the city centre, Fiumicino airport and the new exhibition area, the Milan Marriott Hotel between the centre and the Fiera di Milano , with 321 rooms, all 4-star luxury hotels, and the Russott Hotel in Venice S. Russottfinance is the finance vehicle behind  the  development of the former Post Telegraph building in Syracuse, on Ortigia Island, into a 75 room hotel  which it is planned to open late 2017/early 2018.

September 5, 2017 / Italy to Die For, PropertyLARC Latin American Racing Channel. Sponsors a days racing at Deauville. Prize money for the LARC Prix Maurice de Gheest euro 380.000. Organised by France Galop. LARC has a sponsorship agreement in South America with Longines.

LARC Latin American Racing Channel sponsored a good days racing at Deauville La Touques racecourse organised by France Galop, and which drew in a large crowd with lots of children. Each race day there is a shiny, new Renault car to win. The principal race of the day was the LARC Prix Maurice Gheest ,total prize money, euro 380.000.

Our photo shows Wesley Ward the American trainer greeting Racing Posts popular correspondent Scott Burton at the Touques  race course in Deauville.

Despite Wesley Wards heroic endeavour coming over from the United States to compete in the LARC Prix Maurice Gheest, his horse, Bound for Nowhere, lived up to the name. 

Superstar Carravagio came 6th.

Surprise winner was Brando, Aclaim coming second.

Latin American Racing Channel (LARC) Prix Maurice de Gheest Sunday 6th August, at Deauville races which  are expected to have a splendid day.The horse racing at Deauville is organised by France Galop.

Trainer Aidan OBriens horse, Caravaggio with Ryan Moore riding, should be running. We show Caravaggio winning the Commonwealth Stakes Royal Ascot 23rd June 2017, in our exclusive photo taken by Pete Mooney..

A field of strong contenders including, from America, Trainer Dudley Wards horse  Bound For Nowhere, to be ridden by Frankie Dettori. Dudley Ward has won  the Prix Morny at Deauville races  2 years consecutively with his champion horse Lady Aurelia.

Signs of Blessing, owned by a London based American, John Corbani, trained in Normandy, at Jedburgh Stud, managed by Alec Waugh,  Signs Of Blessing , out of Invincible Spirit, is a horse who has raced at Royal Ascot in the 2016 Jubilee Stakes, coming 3rd. Signs of Blessing will be ridden by Stephane Pasquier, 8th in the French Jockeys winning listing.

Trained by the great French trainer, Andre Fabre, unbeaten in 3 outings, Rosa Imperial ridden by Barzalona, a jockey who is 5th in the winning  French Jockey Listings.

In a field of 13 runners Brando should be mentioned, being placed in the July Cup. The Right Man successful in the Al Quoz  sprint at Meydan race course  in Dubai last winter, Acclaim to be ridden by Olivier Peslier .

Kansai Yamamoto the 1970s Design icon, worn notably by David Bowie in his Ziggy Stardust tour.1972. Kansais extravagant images draw on the rich palette of Imperial Oriental History, textiles some  resemble  visual themes that can be found in vivid Japanese theatre back drops and curtains that illustrate legendary figures. The famous Hokusais print The Great Wave off Kanagawa inspired a Kansai Yamamoto robe.

Kansai studied civil engineering at school. Subsequently, When Kansai was 28, having already set up his own business,  Harpers Queen featured Kansai on his debut cover for their Explosion from Tokyo issue.

Deauville Racing Background. We have chosen some pictures of Roly Poly racing prior to the winning of the prestigious Rothschild Cup that opened the Deauville Racing season 2017, Sunday July 30th, organised by France Galop.. These exclusive photos that show the dynamism of Roly Poly are thanks to racing photographer Pete Mooney. In the Rothschild cup, Roly Poly was the horse to bet on in a very strong field that included Qemah, Usherette.
