Castle Rock Personal ChallengesOur unique “Personal Challenge Projects” for Year 7 students begin at school and are facilitated by our staff, for one hour a week, every Monday evening until 4.30pm. The projects are creatively based and enable students to access literacy, numeracy, curriculum content and lifelong skills that can be utilised in the future. Students are expected to take part in the Personal Challenge Projects and at the end of each, there is an exhibition of students work for parents and the community.Learn MoreCastle Rock Music MaestrosThe innovative "Castle Rock Music Maestros" initiative (for Years 8 and 9) is continuing through 2019-20. Learning to play a musical instrument, read musical notation and play as part of an orchestra are all tremendous skills to have, which can impact on many areas of the school curriculum as well as develop social and personal skills. At Castle Rock we not only provide free tuition but also lend instruments and even provide transport home after the lessons. Each child has the choice to learn an instrument of either brass, string, woodwind, percussion or guitar. Parents and grandparents are also invited to come and join in.Learn MoreOur Medal SystemThe unique "Castle Rock Medal System" rewards smart uniform, excellent behaviour, excellent organisation and excellent timekeeping. Gold medallists have a non-uniform day at the end of each review period. Students who maintain gold medal status throughout the year are invited to the end of year reward trip, which has been a day out at Drayton Manor Theme Park for the last few years. Each subject recognises a student of the week who has shown excellent attitude.
