Continue Reading > The office of Academic Programs and Planning is looking for a new Director of the University Honors Program, which serves approximately 450 undergraduate students from nearly 60 different degree programs and all six Cal Poly colleges. As designed, the program fosters a supportive learning community where students engage with topics related to sustainability, equity, environmental justice, research, service, and leadership.The University Honors Program is a unit of the office of Academic Programs and Planning (APP). The Honors Program Director is one of five directors working independently under the general supervision of the Associate Vice Provost of Academic Programs and Planning (AVP). The Director provides leadership for all aspects of the Honors Program, assists in teaching Honors courses, advises Honors students, and works cooperatively with all six colleges, the Academic Senate, Student Affairs, ASI, and University Leadership to promote and improve the program. The Director supervises one administrative support staff.This position is open to current full-time, tenured Cal Poly faculty with significant teaching experience in higher education. For additional information about the position and how to apply, click here.The office of Academic Programs and Planning (APP) is committed to promoting student learning and success by partnering with faculty and staff to develop, deliver, and continuously improve academic programs; collaborating with the Academic Senate to develop, implement, and review academic policies; and engaging the campus leadership in academic, enrollment, and strategic planning. In particular, APP provides guidance and support for each of the university’s degree programs, which for AY 2019-20 include 66 undergraduate degree programs and 42 graduate degree programs. APP also provides administrative oversight for the university's General Education program. To achieve its mission, APP facilitates academic planning for new and existing degree programs; manages accreditation and program review for Cal Poly and all of its degree programs; directs the assessment of student learning, especially the achievement of the five WSCUC core competencies; oversees the university's Instructionally Related Activities program; implements system-wide, CSU initiatives; and makes reports to meet all of the university's accountability requirements.Additionally, Academic Programs and Planning oversees these non-college units in the Division of Academic Affairs:Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology (ctlt.calpoly.edu)  Office of Writing and Learning Initiatives (writingandlearning.calpoly.edu) Service Learning Program (civic.calpoly.edu) University Honors Program (honors.calpoly.edu) Out of an abundance of caution and care, the Academic Programs and Planning office is currently operating virtually.
