At our heart is a desire to find extraordinary new voices, match them with brilliant people and support the journey of their idea to the stage.STATEMENT FROM THE 503 TEAM As a result of the latest government advice regarding Covid-19, our venue continues to be closed to the public and our regular programming has had to be paused.We will continue to find and support incredible voices from all over the world. We still have the small matter of reading 1,719 scripts from 45 countries from our 2020 International Playwriting Award and we are exploring all the ways we can support writers and the creatives that bring their words to life throughout these unprecedented times including our new Autumn Writers Programme.You will have heard by now from quite a few organisations about the impact this will have on all theatre and arts events. For those who do not know how Theatre503 works we receive no regular public subsidy and rely on a combination of box office and hire fees (around 55% of our turnover). We need to fundraise the remaining 45%, made up of project grants and individual donations to enable us to stage the work of over 120 debut and emerging writers each year. We are also heavily reliant on brilliant emerging companies who make up the majority of our programming, who will be more immediately affected than us. If you would also like to make a difference to what will bea tough few months for a very small, but devoted team who do everything theycan to get first time writers’ work on stage, we’d be hugely grateful.
