However, COVID-19 is a new disease and there is more to learn about its transmission, the severity of illness it causes, and to what extent it may spread in the United States. According to the CDC, a person may develop symptoms of the COVID-19 virus within 14 days of exposure. Symptoms include feeling sick with an acute respiratory illness, such as a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing. As there is no present vaccine to prevent COVID-19, the CDC recommends the following to prevent the spread of the virus: Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and if soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol;Cover coughs or sneezes with tissues or cough into the elbow area, then discard the tissue in the trash and follow up with handwashing; and Member Jim Walz from Parkston SD, had the opportunity to fix this tornado damaged onion on the historic landmark, known as the Onion House. Raatikka joined Sheet Metal Workers Local 10 in 1985. In 1998, he became an organizer for the local. In 2000, he ran for and was elected St. Cloud business agent and served for 20 years until health issues prompted an early retirement. Unveiling that sign just blew my mind, Raatikka said. I m very grateful for that. Local 10 has been very good to me and my family. I love my company and the mindset of the union. If you don t work, you don t get paid. It s like the military hard work pays off. Valuing hard work is essential in Jared s line of work, especially in opportunities to advance. Every 1,000 hours I work, I get a pay raise, Jared says. I also build hours towards a pension through a 401k-like program. By developing his skills, saving for retirement, and working for raises, Jared can continue to serve his community and build a future for himself and his family. Please click on the link to read the whole interview.https://constructioncareers.org/air-force-veteran-finds-home-in-minnesota-construction/ ATTENTION: Reminder to all Sheet Metal Workers.Anyone that is sent to a jurisdiction of another local union other than Local 10 by their employer shall report to that local union BEFORE starting work, as per the Constitution Article 16, Section 10 (a). THE LABEL APP PROTECTS INFORMSThe label app protects your jobs, your wages, and benefits when you scan labels and reportunlabeled product. But it has much more:Read news you can useReport jobsite issues Check the Sheet Metal Job Bank Link to SMART sites"LABEL IT * SCAN IT * REPORT IT" Our Union label is a tool for protecting union jobs, wages, and benefits. And it s an essential tool for enforcing contracts. The labels encourage employers to use union-made prod ucts. For individual sheet metal workers, it means more work, better pay, and healthier benefits. The blue label is used on production products. The yellow label represents building trades products.Wage equalization removes the incentive for employers to use yellow-label products fabricated by union workers getting lower wage rates. By scanning the labels to report which shop produced a product, everyone in the process from fabricators to installers gets the highest average crew cost rate.Everyone benefits from wage equalization. From a fab ricator in a lower-rate local who gets a boost in pay from wage equalization benefits to the higher-rate sheet metal workers by removing the incentive contractors have to look for fabricated products from areas with a lower average crew cost. Otherwise, contractors could pursue a race to the bottom that puts pressure on all locals to accept lower wages. For more information: smart-label-toolkit https://labelitscanitreportit.com/ Are you thinking about retiring?
