Important Notes from Sexton's:More recently we have received numerous questions concerning refund status. Note that the IRS has noted they're currently behind while they're following congress' orders to get stimulus checks sent. The only way to get updates on where the refund is to use the Where's my Refund tool from the IRS or call their offices. We have instructions located here. From a timeline perspective, this could easily mean months instead of the normal weeks to receive your refund. You can keep up with IRS updates at irs.gov/newsroom.Due to the current state of flux, please see our separate pages for updates concerningCovidand thestimulus bill(including unemployment and premium tax credit payback). This includes information concerning the taxability of unemployment and the Advanced Premium Tax Credit.Process change:Other pages go into more detail; however, here's a summary for Tax Year 2020.We will require masks in our office for the extent of the 2020 tax season . This extends beyond the governors lowering of the mandate to an advisory the beginning of April. Due to the health of some of our immunocompromised family, this will not change.Be sure to drop off your return on or before April 15th as returns submitted after that date will be processed after the May 17th deadline. We will not be processing extensions of time to file. So if a payment is needed, you'll need to arrange that payment online with the respective governments (links to the right in addition to more information here). Note that the portal uploads will be shut off beginning April 15th as well.Our process is only a drop-off only service. You'll need to fill out the drop off form located at https://sextonstax.com/about-us.html (we have some at the office if you do not have a working printer).
