WOW, Let The 2020-2021 National Snow Games Begin! Posted by Patrick on September 8, 2020 Posted in: All US Snow Cities.

Well, here we go again, folks. Seriously The new 2020-2021 National Golden Snow Globe snow contest has begun. I have to say it and Im sorry, but it must still be 2020 Not just one of the 5 cities from Colorada received snow but all of them. All 5 cities in the Golden Snow Globe contest received snow and are on the snowboard. I cant say for sure that this is the earliest date that the snow contest started but it is the earliest that I can remember. This season started on September 8th with at least one of the Colorado cities reporting measurable snowfall on that date. WTG Colorado, I think.

Last season the snow contest started on or around September 30th with Spokane, Washington and Billings, Montana receiving measurable snow. Last seasons snow champs Rochester, NY barely out snowed Lakewood, Co by just a few inches and it went down to the wire. Last season started out pretty good with a lot of the Big cities in the United States getting a pretty early start but took a long pause at one point, and a lot of the normal favorites didnt even come close to hitting their normal snowfall for the season.

Rochester, New York won the Golden Snow Globe contest last season, 2019-2020. Have a safe and snowy season all

2019-2020 Golden Snow Globe For Snowiest City Goes To, Rochester, NY Posted by Patrick on July 1, 2020 Posted in: All US Snow Cities.

Wooo Hooo and a Big Congrats Rochester, New York for being the snowiest city in the United States with a population of 100,000 or more for the 2019-2020 snow season Rochester was able to win the snowball fights with three previous champs that were in the Top 4 trying to catch them. Lakewood, Colorado, Anchorage, Alaska, and Syracuse, New York were all within less than 5 inches away from catching Rochester with some cold air sticking around. To be honest, after 10 years of doing this, I was impressed WTG Rochester

OK, first as always I have to give a Big Thank You to those of you who have made a donation to the site this season. Without those donations, the site wouldnt be here so Thanks and feel free to hit the donate button if you havent already In other words, click the dang button OK, enough of the online begging

WOW! Rochester won with the lowest amount of snow in a season that any city has ever won since the snow contest started, which isnt a bad thing. The Golden Snow Globe snow contest started 10 years ago back in the 2009-2010 snow season. Rochester ended this season by winning with 91.8 inches of snow. The previous low for a city winning was Lakewood, Colorado which won the 2015-2016 snow season with 93.2 inches.

So, to my friends in Rochester, New York here is something to think about. Whether you want to win or not, like snow or not, you are the snowiest Big city in the US and you hardly had any snow to shovel this season. Yas won it as perfectly as ya could without getting a ton of snow

Congrats To All In Rochester!!! As pitiful as the amount of snow was for all of us this season, you deserve to win. Its been a lot of fun this season like it is always. I know I dont post much on here anymore or on Twitter but during the snow season, I do post a lot along with a lot of others on our Facebook page. Its dead now but fun in the winter. Come join us here on Facebook.

If you want to see how the Golden Snow Globe contest and the snow season went the entire season then check this out Here. This shows my cheat sheet for all of my updates for the entire snow season. Trust me and my fuzzy math, Im sure there are some mistakes but the FINAL totals right now are according to the National Weather Service. A Big Thanks to them

The Colorado Cities are Taking Over Snow Contest Posted by Patrick on November 26, 2019 Posted in: All US Snow Cities. Tagged: colorado snow, Denver, denver snow, Fort Collins snow, golden snow globe, golden snow globe contest, lakewood colorado, pueblo snow, snow, snowiest us cities, snowstorm.

Wow! The Colorado cities have pretty much taken over the Top 5 in the Golden Snow Globe snow contest for big cities in the United States. Rochester, New York is the only city stopping them from owning the Top 5 slots on the snow mountain. That will probably change come the next update.

Lakewood, Colorado is reporting 11 inches of new snow for today so far, Wow! Right now Lakewood has over 3 feet of snow for the 2019-2020 snow season already. They are blowing away what their average is for this time in the season. Lakewood, CO is reporting 36.4 inches of snow and their average to date is 11.9. Not only that, Lakewood already has well over half of what their average snowfall for the whole season is which is 55.8 inches if my stats are right

Im guessing come the next update that all of the large cities from Colorado will be in the Top 5. Those cities are Lakewood, Denver, Fort Collins, Pueblo, and Colorado Springs. Stay Tuned!

This storm is moving and from what I have read there may be another one setting up. As always, check with the pros before you travel for the Thanksgiving holiday. As much fun as I have with the snow contests I dont like it when this happens during the holidays. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and Stay Safe All!! Cities That Broke Snow Records November 11, 2019 Posted by Patrick on November 12, 2019 Posted in: All US Snow Cities. Record Breaking Snow Falls Across the US!

Below are just some of the cities that broke a date record yesterday, 11/11 across the United States.  Pretty impressive to say the least.  We also have at least 50 large cities in the US now that have measurable snow for the 2019-2020 snow season.  I may be wrong and I normally am but I believe that this is by far the earliest that we have had 50 cities with this much snow this early.  At least since the Golden Snow Globe snow contest started 10 seasons ago

As of the last update, your city will need at least a foot of snow just to slide into the Top 10.  Almost 2 feet of snow to take the lead away from Lakewood, Colorado which has 22 inches already.  The normal for this time in the season for Lakewood is just over 7 inches.  If my stats are right, Lakewoods snow total for the whole season is around 55 inches.  They almost have half of that already, so yeah, this is an unusual start to the snow season.  Luckily the rest of our cities have the whole season ahead to play catch up

Below are some of the larger cities with a population of 100,000 or more which is based on the 2010 census that set snow records yesterday that were reported by our National Weather Service.  As I said, Im impressed

Colorado Cities Snow Into The Lead Golden Snow Globe Posted by Patrick on November 1, 2019 Posted in: All US Snow Cities. Tagged: billings montana snow, colorado snow, colorado snow totals, golden snow globe, golden snow globe contest, snow, snowiest us cities, Texas snow.

Wow! This was the first full update for the 2019-2020 snow season and after yesterday, we have a Top 25 list for the snowiest cities in the United States. The National Weather Service was having problems for a while as far as reporting all of the cities but it looks like that is fixed now. I wasnt able to get snow totals for some of the Colorado cities but I can now and WOW

Lakewood, Colorado is sitting on top of the snow mountain with a huge lead over most of the other cities. All 5 of the cities from Colorado are on the top 6 spots on the Golden Snow Globe snow mountain. Only 3 tenths of an inch separate Colorado from owning the Top 5 spots with Billings, Montana holding onto the #5 spot.

The good news is (well, Kind of) is the snow season is just beginning and we have a whole lot of snow ahead of us Remember that the snow contest is only for large cities in the US and the snow season starts on July 1st and ends at the stroke of midnight on June 30th.

Right now we have 33 cities with snow and that will probably go up come the next update. The cities from Texas are even in the snowball fight right now. My guess is they wont be in the Top 50 by the end of the season but only Mother Nature knows No measurable snow yet for the cities in New York, Pennsylvania and a lot of other states. Give it time

Right now cities from Colorado, Montana, Wisconsin, Texas, Michigan, Indiana, Alaska, Minnesota, Kansas, Idaho, Iowa, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Illinois, and Missouri have had snow this season. Pretty Impressive!

Buffalo, New York is the defending Champion in both the National Golden Snow Globe snow contest and the New York Golden Snowball contest. It will be fun watching the season play on and watching all of the cities in the snowball fight to be crowned the National Champs. Have a fun safe snow season All Click Here for the Current Top 25 Snowiest Cities in the US!

Spokane, Washington Starts Up The Golden Snow Globe Snow Contest

Updated 10:00 PM 9/29

Wow! Spokane, Washington broke two date records yesterday and today. Spokane set a record yesterday, 9/28 with 1.9 inches of snow and another record today, 9/29 with 3.1 inches being reported so far. Thats a pretty good start to the snow contest this early in the snow season. Im impressed and it takes a lot to impress me WTG Spokane!

Updated 9/28 Say it isnt snow! It is and Spokane, Washington is the 1st city, as far as I know, to receive measurable snowfall so far for the 2019-2020 snow season. WTG, Spokane.

There are at least 8 other cities that are reporting a trace of snow this season. The snow season runs from July 1st thru June 30th. Buffalo, NY was the snowiest Big city in the country last season beating out the favorite, Syracuse, NY by a few inches. It will be fun to see if Buffalo can defend their spot on top of the snow mountain.

Ill have to check and see if any of the other cities have started the snow contest this early. After the way this summer has been, I think I am ready for a little bit of snow Its still in the where I am at and its getting really old. OK, it has been old for the last couple of months. Happy Fall everyone and before you know it we will have a Top 25 list.

Its Official Buffalo, NY is Snowiest Big City in US Posted by Patrick on July 1, 2019 Posted in: All US Snow Cities. Tagged: buffalo snow, Buffalo snow totals, Buffalo snowiest city in us, Buffalo wins snow contest, erie, golden snow globe, Golden Snowball, national snow contest, Rochester, snow, snowiest us cities, syracuse. Buffalo, New York Wins Both The Golden Snow Globe and Golden Snowball Snow Contests

A Big Congrats to Buffalo, New York of winning both of the snow contests this season and for also being the snowiest Big city with a population of 100,000 or more. Its been a long time coming and it was a fun close 2018-2019 snow season.

Buffalo, NY is officially the winner as of the end of yesterday, June 30th which is when the snow season ends. Believe it or not, the new snow season started up at midnight, July 1st Buffalo was able to hold on to a 3.8 inch lead over second place Syracuse, NY. Its been a long time since Buffalo out snowed Syracuse which goes all the way back to the 2001-2001 snow season. Wow! Who would have thought it would take that long for Buffalo to take the bragging rights back? Not me! Kudos

I know its way later than we normally call the snow season but I figured after what happen to Erie, PA last season I would hold off until the snow season was officially over. Last season Erie had around 30 inches of snow taken away from them in the middle of summer. Lets hope all of the adjustments have been made by now and there arent any mid-summer corrections

Congratulations Buffalo!

How Buffalo beat Syracuse, Rochester, NY, Erie, PA All of the Others

Yes, the obvious is Buffalo had more snow that all of the other cities, lol Buffalo ended up with 118.8 inches of snow this season which is about 2 feet higher their average snowfall for a season. That helped out along with Syracuse coming in this season below the average snowfall that they normally received. On January 25th Syracuse had about a foot lead over Buffalo but on or about January 26th Buffalo stormed past Syracuse to take the lead. I will have a season summary within the next few days laying out how this season played out. It was a lot of fun and I hope everyone else had fun also. Stay tuned for the summary and have a Great summer all Final Top 25 Snowiest Cities in the US Here!

More to be added to this post!

Its a Wrap Erie, Pennsylvania Wins National Golden Snow Globe Contest Posted by Patrick on April 30, 2018 Posted in: All US Snow Cities. Tagged: billings montana snow, buffalo snow, erie pa snow, erie pa snowfall, golden snow globe, golden snow globe contest, national snow contest, rochester snow, snow Syracuse Snow, snow totals, snowiest US city Erie PA wins Golden Snow Globe. Erie, Pennsylvania Wins Golden Snow Globe Snow Contest

I feel confident enough with the lead that Erie, PA has over second place Syracuse right now to say Congratulations to all of the folks in Erie, Pennsylvania and well deserved.

Its time to wrap up the national Golden Snow Globe snow contest for big cities in the United States with a population of 100,000 or more as of the 2010 census. Its been a fun snow contest this season as always even though Erie did have the biggest lead that I can remember going into January since the snow contest started. I feel confident that Eries lead of 44.9 inches over 2nd place Syracuse is enough to carry them through May and June. 200 inches? Still possible IMO

Keep in mind though that until the end of June 30th, everything is unofficial We never know if there are any adjustments or corrections to be made to the current snow stats by the National Weather Service.

Congratulations Erie!

I will keep doing updates if there is snow and it could still be fun to see if Erie, pa can pass Buffalo, NYs seasonal snow record of 199.4 inches which was set back in the 1976-1977 snow season. Right now, (4/30/2018), Erie is only 0.9 inches away from tying Buffalo, 1 inch away from passing Buffalo and 1.5 inches away from doing what no other Big city has done in the past, reach 200 inches in a season.

Erie, Pa was ahead of Syracuse, NY by about 83 inches going into January. Think about that! Most cities in the Golden Snow Globe snow contest dont even have that much snow for the season My thoughts at that time were if Syracuse or any of the other cities could have cut the lead down to around 30 inches by sometime in February then they maybe still had a shot. That didnt happen and probably wouldnt have mattered because Erie continued to keep adding to their snow totals.

How The 2017-2018 Snow Season Played Out

There have been 5 lead changes this season if my fuzzy math is right

* Lakewood, CO Leads The snow season started up on or around 10/10/17 when the Colorado cities were the first to report snow for the season. Lakewood, CO was leading the snow contest with 4.5 inches of snow and continued to lead until around 11/9/17 when Billings, Montana took the lead with 4.9 inches.

* Billings, MT Leads Billings, MT was the first lead change of the snow season and Spokane Washington was right behind Billings is second place. We had our 1st Top 25 on or around 10/25/17.

Erie, PA jumps on the snowboard for the 1st time this season on or around 11/19 with 0.3 inches. Billings, MT has over a foot of snow held on to the lead until Erie, PA snows into the lead on or around 12/12/17

* Erie, PA Leads Erie, Pa is now in the lead with 16.5 inches of snow but it was a short-lived stay on the top of the Golden Snow Globe snow mountain. On 12/13 Syracuse, NY slipped past Erie and into the lead

* Syracuse, NY Leads Syracuse moves into the lead with a snow total of 21.2 inches of snow. Erie, Pa wasnt too happy and moved back into the lead a couple of days later on 12/15

* Erie, PA Leads Erie, Pa takes the lead back from Syracuse and has a snow total of 23.8 inches. Erie, Pa holds on to the lead until, well until now
I know how this story ends and its about to get pretty ugly soon

Erie, Pa never lost the lead again the rest of the 2017-2018 snow season. On or around 12/23/2017 Erie had a total of 37.5 inches of snow. On 12/25 Eries snow totals almost doubled and they were up to 73.5 inches. Oh, it didnt stop there and the snow didnt either. On 12/26 Im showing that Erie had 97.5 inches and it was still snowing. Come 12/27 Eries new snow total was at 103.6 inches of snow. WOW!!!

Erie leads 2nd place Syracuse by 67.8 inches or should we say over 5 feet of snow. Oh, it gets worst before it starts to get a little better. Eries snow lead over 2nd place Syracuse was as high as 83.3 inches by the end of December. Thats almost 7 feet of snow more than Syracuse, NY, the snowiest Big city in the country on average has. Crazy!

Syracuse did manage to cut Eries lead down to 40+ inches but nothing was stopping Erie this season. OK, maybe that 200-inch mark is stopping Erie but that is about it. Erie crushed their previous highest seasonal snow record of 149.1 inches which was set back in the 2000-2001 snow season. As of the last update Erie, Pas new seasonal record is at 198.5 inches on the season. Congrats Erie

I know this is all Erie, Erie, Erie Marsha, Marsha, Marsha but that is pretty much how this season went. I am working on a trophy for Erie but need to find what I want and also need to wait and see what the final snow totals will be. Thanks for making this snow season so much fun everyone, Patrick
