There are millions of girls around the world who are kept out of school, married as children, abused, trafficked and discriminated against. Simply because they are girls. Families thrive. Communities, nations and the world are healthier, safer, and more prosperous. It’s the best investment we can make.HOW WE WORKStoriesWe tell stories about girls who face daunting barriers to their independence – and stand up to them with determination and courage.The stories are personal and intimate, yet reflect the experiences of girls everywhere.ProgramsUsing GR’s stories, we work with local partners to build confidence and agency in girls and to change attitudes and social norms so that entire communities -- girls, boys, parents, teachers, leaders -- stand up for girls and against gender discrimination.Movement BuildingWe use our stories to ignite and fuel social movements. Our stories inform, engage and inspire the public to take action for girls and gender equality. Our BackgroundYears ago, a team of former journalists set out to answer the question: How do you end global poverty? The powerful truth they uncovered was that educating girls is the single best way to achieve that goal. Yet, millions of girls are missing from classrooms, facing barriers that boys don't: early marriage, sex trafficking, domestic slavery and gender-based violence.In 2013, we released the film Girl Rising, which showcased girls from around the world affected by the power of education – or lack thereof.Today, through mass media campaigns and community-led partnerships, we use storytelling to inspire girls to create a different future and bring people together in a shared mission to create transformational change in the way girls are valued.<<< Thank you for your visit >>>
