Our sport is alive and kicking! Any thought of a quiet time due to the impact of the Covid Virus has been so far away from the reality, once again our volunteer workforce is being tested and again is more than REASONS TO BE POSITIVE! It seems timely with the launch of our new website (thanks to all those involved) and despite all the challenges our sport is facing, to focus on positive news! The new website is symbolic of Back to the ‘new’ normal! Attendance levels have recovered, enthusiasm to shoot is probably even higher than before, volunteering going well and masses of positive feedback about the processes that are in place! Despite ongoing changes to distancing rules and Shooting to Restart! We are pleased to announce that following last Wednesdays announcement by Archery GB, that conditional on ensuring the activity meets all the conditions defined by the Government and Governing Body, we are able to recommence Deer Park Archers Annual Inclusion Shoot Another Success but we need more clubs to follow! We are pleased to say we again increased participation in our annual tournament supported by the Worshipful Company of Fletchers. We were also proud that we had a great number of entries from this year’s We are Deer Park ArchersWe are a Sport, Recreation and Social Club with lots of things to share, lots of achievements and a real passion for our sport and our community!*****Deer Park Archers are:A sport, recreation and social club registered with Archery GBAn Ontarget Performance club, recognise the importance of suitable coaching and competition as fundamental drivers to raising performance, and create an environment that encourages excellence in club Achievements, School and Community settings.We have access to a range of indoor facilities including our own Clubhouse plus Balcarras School Sports Centre (Charlton Kings), GL1 Recreation Centre and Kingshill Sports Centre (Cirencester).We do not offer 24 hour open shooting, all sessions (there are lots of them) are programmed and supported by coaches, we are passionate to remain a club, with social interaction at its heart and not become just a venue where people shoot!We are just one of many clubs in the county that offer a great experience!We have 30+ trained coaches and our club structure and facilities support pathways from recreational to high performance. As of December 2019, we have 10 members in GB Squad/Development Programmes.We have been the Sport Recreation Alliance National Sports Club of the Year and the Archery GB Ontarget Club of the Year twice and in 2018 2020 received an award from Archery GB recognising our club s outstanding performance and contribution to our sport and the Ontarget Club Development Programme!As a grant recipient we are pleased to acknowledge the support that the Big Lottery Fund has provided us with.
