Description:

Berwick Archers will be shooting, at last, on Sunday 25/4/21 at 2pm until 4pm outside on the school sports field. We hope lots of members will be able to attend. There are, of course, some restrictions to keep us safe, like social distancing and target placement, also sticking to your own equipment and not handling others gear. After this interminable break archery GB had given permission for clubs to restart limited shooting again, and in line with their guidelines we at the club are hoping to restart on July 6th, we had to wait until the school gave permission after the term ends. The limitations on shooting include:Outdoors only. One person per target.5 metres between bosses. The 2 metre social distancing rules apply. There will be no entry to the sports hall, toilets and drink making facilities.Archers will be given a target face and pins which they are to remove and take home after use. This to reduce cross-contamination.Also archers should refrain from handling anyone else s equipment. For further guidelines might I suggest reading the archery GB website. These limitations apart we hope that we can all get together and shoot some arrows again. One strict rule that we ask archer to follow is that any one having symptoms of the virus refrain from attending for at least 14days until given the medical all clear. We realise this may seem a bind, but with practise it may get easier and we are doing all we can to keep people safe.Regards.John. Hi Folks. It seems ages since we all shot together, the likelihood of there being any shooting in the near future seems remote so here are some reminders of the evening we said goodbye to Donald.I hope you all stay well and if you have found ways to keep up the interest in archery, I will happily pass them on to other members.Regards.John. The school has banned the use of the sports hall by all external clubs for the foreseeable future as a measure to protect the students from the Corona virus. There will therefore be no archery on Monday evenings until further notice. Message from John:The Spirit of Sport day on May 3rd has been postponed for the foreseeable future due to the coronavirus epidemic. Monday 9th, 7-pm. Monday 16th, 7-9pm. The last postal league match of the season. Monday 23rd, 7-9pm. Monday 30th, 7-9pm.April Monday 6th. 7-9pm. Monday 13th, 7-9pm. Monday 20th, 7-9pm. Monday 27th, 7-9pm.Please note this year s Spirit of Sport day is on Sunday 3rd of May, we are hoping that as many people as possible will volunteer to help out, the times are from 10am to 4pm but we will need to be there early enough to set up. The Club’s Christmas meal will be on Monday 16th December (7pm for 7.30pm) at the Castle Hotel, Castlegate, Berwick. The cost is £25 for 3 courses or £20 for 2 courses. Club members will be subsidised £10. If members wish to bring their significant others they will have to pay the full price. In order for janet to book the meals she will need to know the numbers attending and will need a £10 deposit per person as soon as possible, speed is of the essence. See xmas menu. The club’s AGM will be held on Friday 8th November (as yet the venue is still to be decided) Janet would also like to know the numbers attending.Because the school is using the hall, with a marquee on the 16th December, we will not shot again until January  6th.We have again entered the postal league with  recurve and hopefully a compound team. We try to shoot these matches on the third Monday of each month starting in November.I hope that the Castles leagues will be running this winter, so don t forget your score sheets. Monday 29th April  the club will be holding an Easter fun shoot, featuring strange targets and a few nibbles.Sunday 12th May. The club will be assisting in the Berwick Rotary Club’s Spirit of Sport day for people with disabilities. We put on an archery taster session. It’s a lot of fun but we do need lots of volunteers to help out between 9.30 am and 4.30pm. Please let John know if you can help!
