He replaces Dr. Clive Kaiser who had served as interim director for the past several months during the nationwide search for a permanent replacement for Mary Corp, who retired on September 30. Learn More Station Spotlight: North Willamette Research Extension Center (NWREC) In addition to dozens of research labs and institutes on campus, the College of Agricultural Sciences has 14 agricultural experiment stations across the state. Of those stations, the North Willamette Research Extension Center (NWREC) is the most agriculturally diverse. Located just 20 miles south of downtown Portland, NWREC is a critical interface between urban and rural communities, and serves the Willamette Valley—Oregon's most productive agricultural region—with science-based information that supports vital agricultural industries, addresses environmental issues, and enhances the quality of life for all Oregonians.  Learn more about NWREC research and outreach programs in this video— NWREC Website College of Agricultural Sciences launches Climate, Diversity and Inclusion Initiative As the founding college of a land grant university, we have an obligation and mission to serve all Oregonians in addressing complex challenges facing our society. This requires us to not only reflect the society we serve in our composition but also to respect all voices in what we do and how we do it. This seems particularly important as we continue to see such inequality in our society on the basis of race, gender and identities of all types. Future Students All Students: Please feel free to contact an advisor with questions.  Advisors While the full impact of COVID-19 on our student community is still unfolding, it has already significantly disrupted their lives, resulting in unexpected financial needs. The Beavers Care initiative provides immediate resources for OSU students who are facing new and overwhelming challenges. Give now to help our students meet their needs during this uncertain time and stay on track to graduate. Beavers Care Fiscal year 2020 marked a milestone for the college as it grew its research grant funding to $62.6M, an increase of 22% over fiscal year 2019. After averaging approximately $50M in each of the previous five years with some modest increases of 3-5% in past two years, this year’s increase is particularly notable. The college’s leadership attributes this significant increase to the hard work of the faculty, staff, and students who develop research proposals, build the corresponding and often interdisciplinary teams, while persevering through the administrative complexities that can often accompany significant grants. It also shows the importance of our work to funding agencies, industries, organizations and our many other stakeholders. Faces of AgSci is a digital magazine that features our students and alumni. We aim to celebrate the diversity of our research and our community, showcasing the humanity behind the science.    Oregon’s Agricultural Progress (OAP) magazine showcases how agricultural research contributes to the economy, environment, and social structure of Oregon and the world.   The Source features a quarterly message from our dean, Dr. Alan Sams, along with a compilation of faculty highlights, news stories, and updates from our programs and partnerships across the globe.   College of Agricultural Sciences alumni are known for making a difference. The involvement of our alumni is crucial to the College community.
