Produced in partnership with the NAACP Boston Branch and WORLD Channel, The State of Race will kick off on Wednesday, July 22 at 7:30 pm with a discussion on the intersection of race and COVID-19's impact on being Black in Boston. The State of Race: COVID-19 focuses on the inequities facing Black communities in health, personal income, education and more, made far worse by the pandemic. A panel discussion will feature: How Anjimile Wrote A Song And Became The Person They Were Always Meant To Be Anjimile believes that their songs write themselves. "I'm just tuning into the radio station, turning the knob until I hear the song clearly," they told me. "I don't really know what the song is about until after I write it." It's a creative process that requires time, and a trust that when it begins at a dark time in your life, it will someday reveal its meaning. Beyond The Page: Reading Selections From Author Francesca Momplaisir Each month, Beyond The Page: A WGBH Book Club features a notable author, who takes part in a live Q A with a WGBH personality to discuss the intricacies of that month's novel. With each monthly book selection, we also ask the author for a list of reading recommendations.
