The cover extends to claims for loss of revenue, increased cost ofworking, loss of rental income and additional expenses resulting frominterruption or interference with business.What do you need to know?Wherethe University sustains any physical or asset loss or damage, report it throughRisk Online Active Reporting (ROAR) so thatwe can manage the claim and seek cost reimbursement or replacement. Refer to our property insurables fact sheet.Motor vehicleThe University only insures its fleet of motor vehicles underComprehensive Cover. The University s Motor Fleet does not provide anyinsurance to people who use their own vehicles on behalf of the University.Should an accident or damage occur to the vehicle, your department or officewill be required to pay the first $500 of the claim cost. The University cover does not include:use of privately owned vehiclesdamage to private vehicles on campushire of rental vehicles.When hiring rental vehicles, it is essential that onlyfull license holders drive the vehicle, otherwise the rental insurance cover is negated and that additional insurance is taken out as a precautionary measure.Note that the University fleet policy does not cover the hire of rentalvehicles.Should you have any queries, contact us at insurance.mq@mq.edu.auAbout travel and personal injury coverIf youare travelling on University approved trips, you, your team and the equipmentyou take need the protection of travel insurance. Note theuniversity does not cover personal leisure activities that are not incidentalto the University s purpose of travel.When a personis injured in the course of their work (staff) or studies (students) theUniversity insurance program has been designed to respond. It provides claims and legalsupport and manages costs arising from a claim. The Medical Registration Boardrequires medical practitioners (MBBS qualified and above) to hold their own MDOmedical indemnity insurance, the University has worked closely with a PIprovider to support International Medical Graduates (IMG) to secure the correctlevel of coverage and also to facilitate the process for practitioners tosecure their cover.Should you have any queries, contact us at insurance.mq@mq.edu.auMedical malpracticeMedical malpractice cover protects both the practitioners and the University from acts,errors or omission in the provision of health care services that result infinancial loss, bodily injury and or property damage.Clinical trialsClinical trials bytheir very nature need specific insurance coverage. To cover your trial, werequire the appropriate ethics approval and clarity regarding the nature of thetrial and participant s profiles to secure and confirm the cover. Please contactus at insurance@mq.edu.au to assist you to determinethe best coverage for your trial.Professional indemnityProfessional liability (indemnity) protects the University for legal liability to paydamages as a result of a claim made against the University and/or a protectedperson arising out of any negligent act, error omission in the conduct of theUniversity s professional business (breach of professional duty resulting in afinancial loss to a client of the University).A professional dutyexists particularly in connection to teaching, consulting work and research.Cover extends tounintentional defamation, infringement of rights of intellectual property andbreach of confidentiality.The range ofpeople who are "protected persons" under professional liability insuranceare the same as those mentioned in the section on public liability(see above).It should be notedthat the University normally will not agree to provide professional liabilityinsurance to consultants (including sole traders) who carry on a professionalbusiness.The scope of thecover is worldwide: however, claims brought in North America (ie the USAand/or Canada) are excluded.Management, directors and officers LiabilityThe policy offers protection for officers for legal liability arising out oftheir conduct as a director or an officer.Cyber liability insuranceThis insuranceis for the protection relating to a cyber loss event and/or the costs involvedfor the event.Environmental liabilityProtection forthe costs and remediation relating to an environmental pollution event.
