Description:

Request a K-12 Troubleshooter and K-12 Troubleshooter Fact Sheet COVID-19 UPDATESince BC declared a state of emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board has continued to provide services to the public with three key modifications:(1) the reception services at 1066 West Hastings Street in Vancouver remain closed; (2) it conducts all proceedings and meetings using virtual platforms or phone, subject to the policies below; and(3) it conducts votes required by the Code using electronic voting, or by mail ballot as the exception, subject to the policies below. In accordance with BC’s Restart Plan, orders and recommendations of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), information from the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), and guidelines issued by WorkSafe BC, the Board has developed a number of policies aimed at ensuring that an in-person proceeding or vote can be conducted safely for all participants, including Board staff. As of July 2, 2020, and continuing in effect until further notice, the following policies apply to any request for an in-person proceeding:(1) Policy for the Conduct of In-Person Proceedings (2) Policy for the Conduct of In-Person Votes; and(3) Illness PolicyThese policies reflect our duties as an employer to protect the health and safety of Board staff. They also reflect our duty to protect the health and safety of members of public with whom we interact as we perform our duties and responsibilities under the Code. Board staff will, in large measure, continue to work from home. In addition, the Board’s premises will remain closed to drop-ins, with attendance by appointment only or where the Board has granted a request, or decided, to hold an in-person proceeding. These policies may be amended in response to changes to recommended safe operating requirements, as identified by the PHO, BCCDC, or WorkSafeBC.As we gain experience, together, in the context of a pandemic, we want to hear from you about what is working and what is not. We have benefitted immensely from the high degree of cooperation, problem-solving, and collaboration of the parties that have appeared before us since the Provincial state of emergency was declared. In that same spirit, we encourage you to provide your feedback to information@lrb.bc.ca so that we can consider your perspectives and experiences, and to refine our policies going forward. All correspondence initiating or relating to any proceeding under the Code should be sent byemail toregistrar@lrb.bc.ca Until further notice, the Board is waiving the requirement under its Rules that a party file a sworn statutory declaration in support of applications under the Code, including, but not limited to, applications under Section 99 and Section 141 In lieu of a statutory declaration, parties may file an unsworn statement containing the same information and documents that would otherwise have been required in a sworn statutory declaration The change is subject to the discretion of the Board or the panel assigned to require a sworn statutory declaration on a cases by case basis If you have any questions or concerns about an active file, please contact us atregistrar@lrb.bc.ca For any other questions please contactinformation@lrb.bc.ca ALL OF THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THE GUIDES ON THIS WEBSITE (INCLUDING CODE GUIDE, INFORMATION BULLETINS, AND PRACTICE GUIDELINES) IS CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW AND SHOULD NOT BE RELIED ON EXCEPT WITH CAUTION.
