The Great Bay Charter School (GBCS), formally known as the Great Bay eLearning Charter School (GBeCS), is a public chartered school authorized by the New Hampshire Board of Education. Approved in 2004, we opened our doors to ninth grade students in January 2005 and have evolved to serve students in grades 6-12 today.Our program emphasizes project-based learning in a purposefully designed smaller learning community. Our community is broken into two grade span groups with our 6th-8th grade Lower School and 9th-12th grade Upper School. Each student works closely with a faculty advisor and meets daily with their advisory group.Our school emphasizes avenues for personalization of learning through development of goals-based Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs). Each student leads a PLP conference with his/her team twice per year.Students are provided with a significant degree of flexibility to adapt projects to their learning styles, but are expected to be engaged, committed learners.
