Through in-depth research of source materials and a desire to contextualize music, Tzigane brings a historically inspired perspective to the Romantic and Classical repertoire with performances that are animated by his hallmark sense of the agogic timing and characterful tempo modifications.He achieved early recognition winning Grand Prize at the 2007 Gzegorsz Fitelberg Competition followed by Second Prize at the 2008 Sir Georg Solti Competition. These led to invitations from the Bayerisches Staatsoper, Oper Frankfurt, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Nordwestdeutsche (NWD) Philharmonie among others. He was immediately appointed Principal Conductor of the NWD Philharmonie, a position which he held until 2014. Tzigane enjoys many ongoing relationships with ensembles including with the Orchestre National d'ile de France, Bruckner Orchestra Linz, Royal Swedish Opera, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, RTE National Orchestra of Ireland, and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Other recent European engagements have taken him to the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Copenhagen Philharmonic, Norwegian Radio Symphony, Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia, Lahti Symphony, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Basel Symphony, and Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Tzigane also regularly works in the opera pit having made his operatic debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper in a new production of Così fan tutte. More recent engagements have taken him to Frankfurt am Main (Die Fledermaus), Hamburg (Die Zauberflöte), and Stockholm (Carmen and Fedora). Tzigane has worked with many of the leading musicians of today including Mischa Maisky, Alban Gerhardt, Leif Ove Andsnes, Alessio Bax, Lise de la Salle, Inon Barnatan, Kevin Kenner, Vilde Frang, Baiba Skrida, Stefan Jackiw, Chloe Hanslip, Hye-Yoon Park, and Arabella Steinbacher, among others. Tzigane begins the 19/20 season with a debut with the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra followed by return visits to the RTE National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, among others. Eugene Tzigane holds a Master's Degree in Conducting from Juilliard where he studied with James DePreist and earned the Bruno Walter Memorial Scholarship. He completed his studies with a Post Graduate Diploma under Jorma Panula at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and was awarded the Franz Berwald Memorial Prize. He also studied music theory, solfège, orchestration, counterpoint, and score-reading with Christopher Stone of Mannes College of Music. He has conducted in masterclasses with Daniel Harding, Michael Tilson-Thomas and Jukka-Pekka Saraste. His is also the winner of the Second Prize at the 2007 Lovro von Matacic Competition (Zagreb). Weitere europäische Engagements brachten ihn zum Netherlands Philharmonie Orchestra, Bruckner Orchester Linz, RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland und dem Sinfonieorchester Basel. Highlights der Saison 2015/2016 sind Wiedereinladungen nach Lahti, Aarhus, dem Norwegischen Radio, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony und dem Kyoto Symphony in Japan, ebenso wie Debüts bei den Copenhagen Philharmonics, dem Helsingborg Symphony Orchester, dem Göttinger Symphonie Orchester und Oulu Sinfonia.In den USA wurde Eugene Tzigane für sein Debüt beim Grant Park Festival 2013 gefeiert. Die Chicago Tribune schrieb, er bringe eine Frische und eine besondere Energie zu einer attraktiv-abwechslungsreichen Programmgestaltung; er zeige eine enge Verbundenheit mit den Musikern. In der letzten Saison war er eingeladen, drei Vorstellungen von Mozarts Zauberflöte an der Hamburgischen Staatsoper zu dirigieren, darüber hinaus debütierte er an der Royal Swedish Opera mit einer Produktion von Bizets Carmen.
