Creativity Lives Here.
About the Creator
I am an Interior Stylist with a passion for everything creative. I have always been a hands-on person, and DIY projects are my specialty. While my studies have mainly been focused on interior decorating I also dabble in party decor, cooking, handmade gifts Elegance is the only beauty that never fades Audrey Hepburn

Always inspired by the sheer elegance of Audrey and thenostalgic Breakfast at Tiffanys film we are dying to share this blog post withyou!

Straying slightly from our vintage shabby-chic nature we setout to create a look that would inspire even the most contemporary of women. Whatsmore elegant than black, white with a hit of that oh-so-famous Tiffany-Blue?!

We started the look off with a bold colourful backdrop. Fromthere we added our DIY white pom-poms hung from above. The china we kept the colour pallet simple, using variations of Tiffany-Blue teacups mixed with elegant white teacupsand floral pastel plates. We placed an over-sized black wing chair in the center of it all to lounge lavishlyon, and polished our finest silver for this glamours occasion!

We spent the afternoon sipping tea lazily, dressed inour little black dresses (with matching tiaras!) eating French macarons and fresh fruit as Kelly Cartney captured themagical moments from behind her lens.

DIY Chair Make-Over

By: Cups and Saucers

Did you know that there are some great upholstery spray paints now on the market! Check out this chair (hand-picked from the trash).

We found this little gem, curb-side style, and made it the focal point of our photo shoot. Using black upholstery spray paint we were able to disguise the original dated upholstery pattern. Then we sprayed the chair frame gold for an added lux factor and the chair make over took less than a day!

Step 1 - find an awesome chair with a good frame work.

Step 2 - with soap and water wash down the chair frame and beat the dust out of the fabric.

Step 3 - prep your chair. Using painters tape and tissue paper carefully covered the entire frame. Spray the upholstery with (black) upholstery spray paint. Our upholstery took two cans of spray to fully cover.

Step 4 - remove the bandages from your chair and touch up any areas that may have been hiding beneath the tissue.

Step 5 - once the upholstery is fully dry, cover it lightly, and leave the frame exposed so you can spray that next. Use tissue paper again to cover the freshly painted upholstery - stick pins can also be used to hold the tissue in place (you can pin right into the fabric),

Step 6 - peel off the tissue from the upholstered part and touch up any areas that were missed.Sit in your new chair and have a cup of tea!

DIY - Price is Right - Bridal Shower Game

by Cups and Saucers

What you will need:

House hold products from the grocery store (keep your receipt for evidence!)

A box with all the guests names to randomly draw contestants from

Dry erase boards and markers

Printed cards with the right price

Microphone (optional)

Theme song (optional)

The Prep-

Step 1 purchase household items from the grocery store. We chose products that were popular in the 1950/60s and/or had a retro looking label (example Spam, Borax, ect).

Step 2- using the receipt as your guide, type up individual cards listing the product and the price, so that you can visually show guests the right price

Step 3 print a list of the attendees and cut them up so you can randomly draw contestant.

Optional download the theme song for the price is right, rent a micro phone and print a large price is right graphic

The How To:

-Randomly draw THREE contestants and ask them to come on down (we played the Price is Right Theme song while we did this)

-Hold up the first item and ramble off a cute slogan to introduce the product Spam - Flip flop its done spam burger on a bun! (We had the bride-to-be model our fabulous retro products).

-Ask the contestants to write their answer on the dry erase board, and reveal.

-The contestant with the closest price (without going over) is the winner of that round, and the other two other contestants must take their seat.

-Randomly select two more contestants and repeat!

We played 10 rounds of this, and it seemed to be the prefect length for our audience. We randomly selected three contestants at a time, however you could certainly play with more to include more people.

Tip: keep your receipt(s) in case competitive guests get feisty!

DIY Three Tiered Platters - By Cups and Saucers

What is a tea party without stacked sandwiches and desserts!? These elegant platters are always in high demand among our rental customers so we decided to create a few more to add to the collection. We had so much fun with the project we wanted to share this great DIY process!

What you will need -

- Drill (I used two so I didnt have to keep switching drill bits)

- Drill guide (optional)

- Vintage plates

- Gold Hardware Set (ebay)

- Glass Tile Bit Set (I used 1/8 and 1/4)

-Towel and Water

-A great Dad to lend you his drill and drillbits, an amazing husband totake your photo!

The How To:

Step 1: Determine the center of your plate and mark it (I used masking tape, but you could draw right on the plate if you like).

Step 2: Use a towel to study the plate and start to drill on your mark, I used the 1/8 bit and drill guide to get a nice notch in the plate.

Step 3: Use the bigger drill bit (1/4) and continue to drill until you are all the way through, splashcold water every other minute to keep the drill cool.Repeat with all three plates.

Step 4: Assemble your plates, biggest tosmallest, with the hardware purchased via ebay

Step 5: Set the table, invite some friends and throw an elegant tea party!

Crafting for a Retro Housewife Bridal Shower

Elena Rose Koidis

For the give-away at my sisters retro housewife bridal shower we crafted these super cute oven cupcake boxes! We purchased the template via Etsy but needed as many hands as possible to cut out, score, and assemble the boxes.

And the theme doesnt stop there.. we also purchased retro recipe card graphics. Recipe cards will be mailed out with the invitations so each guest can provide their favourite recipe card to the new bride to be.

More great inspiration to come!

Cups and Saucers - at the Love Struck Expo Toronto

The Love Struck Expo was like no other bridal event - it was a trade show disguised as a faux wedding; held at the vintage Berkeley Church in Toronto. Only invited vendors were able to attend and Cups and Saucers were honored to be included in this high styled event - pulling out all the stops and deciding to go Vintage Victorian for the tea party set up. (Showcasing vintage tea china for baby showers, bridal showers and small weddings.)
