Christopher is an independent and not beholden to any political party. He can do the things than need doing, when they need to be done. A vote for Whinney is a vote for action. 1. PLANNING Christopher will continue to view every application within the ward, as he has done in the past. and oppose Planning Applications adversely affecting the Green Belt, public places and residents, thereby preserving the character of the area. 2. PARKING This is an increasingly pressing matter. Christopher will continue to press the Council for more spaces, such as adding to the Bancroft Road car park, and also to pursue the County Council on obstructive on public roads. 3. SCHOOLS Christopher knows that with an increasing number of residents, there will be resultant increase in traffic requiring additional parking and other measures to ensure the safety of our children - this is paramount. 4. PRIORY PARK Christopher wants this wonderful area to be maintained for the benefit of ALL residents and supports 'ParkRun' continuing to be allowed every Saturday morning. 5. REIGATE HILL TRAFFIC FLOW This is disrupted when the railway level crossing barriers are down but much more frequently stopped when people rush acroos the pedestrian crossings and small incidents occur. This danger can be reduced by installing controlled crossings, as in Reigate Town centre. 6. REIGATE HEATH Christopher has been a champion of the Heath to ensure that it maintains its status as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and notes that a new Management Plan is now over 2 years overdue. (See above news article). He will ensure the Council give priority to making a new Plan acceptable before it is presented to the local Council's Executive for approval. Christopher has successfully opposed damaging Planning Applications all the way through to Appeal. He has organised the residents to attend such appeals and together achieved success. Christopher has continued to work with Reigate Business Guild to ensure the viability of the High Street and adjoining streets in the Reigate Town Centre. Christopher has continued to work to protect Reigate Heath to ensure that it maintains its status as a site of Special Scientific Interest, and offers facilities for residents to walk, ride and play golf, and continued to press the council on the maintenance of the Mill, a listed building. Christopher has continued to support Harlequin Theatre and Cinema as a source of entertainment for all ages. he recognises the help of volunteers to reduce the Council's subsidy. Christopher has continued to fight for Priory Park to be maintained for the benefit of residents. Christopher has continued to campaign for the Council to collect its Debts sooner and not be so ready to write them off. Christopher has continued to press for the Highways to be re-surfaced not patched up and Pavements to be made safe by the County Council Christopher is experienced in business and local government. He has a reputation for getting things done: If residents want to get things done or seek advice, they come to Christopher Whinney.
