Description:

Welcome to a much needed summer break! This will be our final bulletin until after July 4th. If a question comes up between now and the next Band Bulletin, please scroll back through the past few bulletins before contacting directors. Like our students, the directors will be unplugging and recharging our batteries for a few weeks, and we will not be checking e-mail as regularly as during the school year. We are still looking for additional tubas and flags for the 2020 edition of the Marching Bees. If you know someone that might be interested in joining band and play tuba or join Flagline it s not too late! Due to offsite learning this Spring, Flagline auditions will be accepted through the end of June. Students interested should contact Ivory Kovach ASAP. Students interested in joining the Marching Bees on tuba or any other instrument should contact Mr. Rex ASAP. Help us recruit to balance out the band and make everyone s experience the best it can be!We hope you all have a great summer! Enjoy a virtual version of Across the Field and On, Oh Brecksville by Sam Dickhaut, Ayden Casa, and Luke Olesinksi to take us into summer break!Congratulations to or 2020-2021 Drumline! Please keep in mind students are placed on an instrument that best suits their abilities with consideration for overall balance of the drumline. Since the audition process was not able to be in-person and as comprehensive as past years, there is also the possibility of some movement over the summer and at sectionals/band camp. Please feel free to contact Scott Velardo with any questions! At this time we are still planning to be able to have Flagline Camp and Band Camp during the scheduled dates and times. The structure may look different from past years as decisions regarding COVID-19 and the start of the school year evolve, but students and parents should still keep the dates/times reserved that went out in the Summer DIGITAL Mailing. We hope to have more information avaiable at the beginning of July. If you did not receive the Summer DIGITAL Mailing, contact Ms. Astey. Please make sure you have all band dates for the 2020-2021 school year in your calendars.Music and Squad Lists will be released around or before July 4th. We will send out Reminds when music is posted. Please make sure you are subscribed to the appropriate Remind accounts as listed in the Summer DIGITAL Mailing.Flagline Camp: July 20-24, 9:00am-3:00pmDrumline Sectionals: TBD in July2020 Band Camp (Required See Summer Mailing for detailed schedule.)Week 1: July 27-31Week 2: August 3-7The year has come to an end, and though things ended in a non-traditional manner, we are still so VERY PROUD of everything our students have accomplished this year. We will be finalizing grades Monday and Tuesday to reflect missing/late work that was turned in Friday and over the weekend. Please be sure to check Progress Book one last time on Tuesday for accuracy. Final grades will be submitted Wednesday morning. THANK YOU to students and parents for their patience and perseverance during this time of offsite learning.CONGRATULATIONS to the Class of 2020! Unfortunately, this always makes these decisions incredibly difficult. Please keep in mind that even if you were not selected for a leadership position you can still be a leader without a title. We are always looking for our next set of student leaders and those who exhibit servitude leadership qualities. Any students or new leaders interested in leading our Loading Crew as the Equipment Manager or serving as our second Librarian please contact Mr. Rex. Results for Section Leaders, Drum Majors and Officers are below.Everyone should be respectful and sensitive to those who were not selected for student leadership positions. You are all to be commended for being willing to serve. Please feel free to contact the directors with any questions. We will have a Student Leadership Zoom meeting on Thursday, June 4th at 1:00pm.For Flagline results, please hop on over the the Flagline page.HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! The Marching Bees traditionally spend this holiday honoring those who have served our great country and made the ultimate sacrifice. It does feel odd not serving our communities this Memorial Day, but hopefully the video below created by alumnus AJ Gallucci from 2019 will help us honor this day virtually. Many thanks also to Jacob Zywiec and Zach Zywiec for playing Taps for the Broadview Heights Drive Thru Parade.THANK YOU to everyone that helped with and attended the Music Department Turn-In on Friday! It was so nice to see everyone even if it was masked and socially distanced. We had just about every uniform, instrument, and folder turned in. That s awesome! If you missed the turn-in or forgot to bring something, please bring them to your scheduled school locker clean out this week.SENIORS: If you forgot to do so on Friday, please bring a wallet size senior photo to be included in the Class of 2020 collage to hang in the band room during your school locker clean out.PRIVATE LESSONS: If you need a school instrument for private lessons over the summer, you will be able to check one back out during your scheduled school locker clean out. Complete your locker clean out and then drive around to the Band Room doors. The doors will be locked, so make sure you knock. Please also let Mr. Rex know an approximate time when you will be picking the instrument up. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we complete a thorough inventory.Tuesday night at 7:00pm we will be streaming our virtual Band Awards. We will recognize every student in the band program and honor the Class of 2020. Band Officers have been working to keep our traditions going virtually, so don t miss the Band Superlatives and slideshow! This year we will be experimenting with sending out our traditional Summer Mailing digitally.
