Cooperative Charting is a major public service of USPS to provide updated information to the Marine Chart Division of NOS/NOAA. The USPS Geodetic Program is a program to locate individual geodetic marks and report their condition together with any change in the directions needed to locate them. It contains status for marinas, marine parks and borders, and safe boating guidelines. America's Boating Course (ABC) starts on Tue, 27 OCT 2020. This classroom (Zoom) instruction meets the requirements for the mandatory Washington State Boaters Education card. The class consists of five evenings (four lecture/discussions, 7:00-9:00PM) followed by the test. Partner in Command Seminar starts on Tue, 20 OCT 2020 at 7:00 PM from your home via Zoom. This classroom instruction reviews the essential skills you need to help the skipper safely operate a recreational boat, including how to respond in an emergency. (See ---CLASS SCHEDULE--- below for signup and additional class details.) Due to the social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19, there are numerous squadrons in the area conducting boating education classes via Zoom. If you would like to take a class from another district squadron, contact them and ask to see if you can enroll and will permit the end of course exam be proctored by Tacoma Power Squadron. When enrolled, contact our education department and they will coordinate getting the exam and proctor you locally (maintaining social distancing) while taking exam. Are you one of the many recreational boaters in Washington required by law to complete an approved boating safety education course and carry a Washington State Boater Education Card ? If so, Tacoma Power Squadron is offering America's Boating Course (ABC) class room instruction and testing in five class room sessions for you to obtain your boaters card. You are required to have a Boater Education Card if you fit the following criteria: -- You operate a vessel with a 15-horsepower (or greater) motor. -- You were born after Jan. 1, 1955. -- You are 12 years of age or older. ---CLASS SCHEDULE--- The America's Boating Course (ABC) signup can be found at the following link, Tacoma Power Squadron Upcoming Educational Courses. The final night is the exam which requires in person attendance where social distancing and all COVID recommendations are strictly adhered to for safety.
