As we remain in shut-down mode, I remember so many great times we as members have enjoyed this past year. As your Governor, I have gotten to meet, welcome and know so many great new members to our Lodge. We have had great fellowship and fun events such as ball-room dancing, square dancing, dinners, parties, karaoke and so much more, while we greatly increased our giving and support of Moose Charities, our main mission. In addition, we also increased local help to our community such as the Veterans in Lake City, Patriot Guard Riders and Special Olympics. I remember less than a year ago, we started painting and sprucing up our Lodge building. Now, it looks terrific and is waiting for you!My main reason for writing this note is far more than just remembering our good times before Covid 19 hit. My main reason is to look ahead with each of you. We all know we will, in a matter of weeks, re-open. But re-opening will not be just unlocking the door and opening up the Social Quarters. We will need each member’s financial support to get us going again.Yes, we understand many members now may be less fortunate due to a loss of income; but we will need those who have not been affected to pull us through. As a result of our closure, our normal Lodge income disappeared, but not the monthly bills. In fact, the weeks we were without income were during a high bill-paying time period. We also have to compound our financial matter with the fact that food and other inventory stock for both the kitchen and Social Quarters obviously could not be kept. In addition, our leadership decided to extend pay for our Social Quarters employees with the sole purpose of completing our massive kitchen renovations as well as sanitizing and organizing Lodge furnishings. We scrimped on power and utilities to get us through. So re-opening will be a chore faced with expenses not normal to the Lodge’s monthly budget. We earnestly ask for you to please provide a special financial gift that will help us to re-open and bring back “new-normal” activities. It is my desire that your gift will ease the financial burden our Lodge will experience upon opening. Please mail a check (what you can afford) made out to Loyal Order of Moose 2020, located at 5051 Collins Road Jacksonville Florida 32244. I want to personally thank you in advance for your consideration of a gift as we eagerly look forward to good times as Brothers and Coworkers at our Lodge.Fraternally yoursBill Dion, Governor Progress During Covid-19What have your Board of Officers been doing during the shut-down? We have been working on successfully finishing our Chapter year. Since the Lodge has closed, the WOTM officers have held four meetings using a conference call format. We have approved applications and completed necessary forms to ensure that the Chapter receives the Award of Achievement. The number of members we have presently is 1027 as of the week of April 27 which is 28 more than last year. We are now beginning to plan the re-opening of the Lodge and Chapter in conjunction with the LOOM officers. We hope to begin opening up sometime in mid to end of May. Look for more information to come. Thanks to a very dedicated small group of hard workers including Howie, Amy and Jarrod, Kelly and David, Mike Cahill and Andrew, our Lodge, especially the kitchen and floors, look shiny and new. To anyone else who has helped, please accept our sincere thanks. You will be happily surprised when you see the results. We hope that all of our members are in good health and we look forward to seeing your smiling faces real soon. Paula Dion, Senior RegentSenior Regent 2019 – 2020 Hello Co-Workers,Due to the Corona Virus Pandemic the Elected and Appointed Officers as well as Chairman positions have been extended until June 30th. I will be holding the Recorder position until June 30th. I have had a slow month with applications due to the Lodge being closed but the WOTM have surpassed our plus 1 to earn the Award of Achievement. We will receive confirmation sometime in May. Thank you to each Co-Worker and LOOM members for your support this past year. If you are experiencing difficulty renewing your dues please contact an Officer to discuss. We are here to help our members.Fraternally, Paula Castleberry, Recorder, E-mail: lakeshore.chapter.1495@gmail.com, or (904) 509-1092
