Class of 2020 have been awarded first year scholarships to attend Glenville State College: ·Jagger Furr - $5,000 ·Jaycie Johnson - $5,000 ·Alyssa R. Langford - $5,000 ·Hunter Lemon - $5,000Additionally the following GCHS alumni have earned scholarship renewal awards to attend Glenville State College: ·Janeeva Jenkins, Class of 2017 – 4th year renewal award of $1,250 ··Brian Tyler Moore, Class of 2017 - 4th year renewal award of $1,250. Since the discontinuance of the Glenville H.S. Alumni Association’s annual reunion, new contributions to the scholarship fund are practically non-existent, aside from a couple of faithful contributors. Therefore, the Glenville H.S. Alumni Scholarship Committee has made the decision to no longer accept scholarship applications from GCHS seniors after this year. But renewal scholarships will continue to be awarded, assuming fund availability and if the student scholars comply with scholarship requirements for renewals. Since its inception in 1999, the Glenville High School Alumni Association Scholarship Program has awarded almost $400,000 to deserving Gilmer County High School students to help further their education. The following GHS Scholarship Committee members participated in the recent award deliberations: William F. Bill Gainer, Quentin Ted Stewart, David Hall, Carol Ellison Ford, Sue Ann Stalnaker Charles, and John Gainer.1967 Flood Paper Photos by the late Laura Bell GainerFootball Stats for Glenville, Normantown, Tanner, and Gilmer County High SchoolCompiled by Robert BonarYes, Normantown and Tanner did have a football program at one time Did you know that in the past 21 years your Alumni Scholarship Fund has helped Gilmer County's high school graduates with financial assistance to attend college with almost $400,000 in scholarship awards!!? This has enabled some students to attend college who could not have done so without your assistance. If you contribute to the scholarship fund, we thank you; however, due to the discontinuance of our annual reunions donations to our fund are no longer being received. We will no longer be able to award first time scholarships to Gilmer County High School seniors. We will continue renewals to current recipients as long as funds are available.
