Pharmaceutics Journal Invites Two URI Professors to Serve as Guest Editors for Special Issue - URI chemical engineering professors Samantha Meenach and Jie Shen will be guest editors of a special issue of the journal Pharmaceutics. The issue, titled Particle Engineering for Drug Delivery Applications, will be published in 2021. Irene Andreu Kicks Off Chemical Engineering Seminar Series - Irene Andreu will deliver the first seminar of this fall s Amgen-sponsored chemical engineering series. Dr. Andreu joined URI in 2018 as the director of the Rhode Island Consortium of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and an adjunct faculty in chemical engineering. RI C-AIM s Career Development Certificate Earned By Chemical Engineering Student - Timo Kuester, who is a doctoral candidate in chemical engineering, is part of a team that is developing marine sensors to detect pollutants in Narragansett Bay. Motivated to become a more effective communicator, Kuester has attended several science communication programs. $2.3 Million Electron Microscope Purchased for Materials Research - URI has purchased a $2.3 million scanning-transmission electron microscope that will be used to visualize and characterize a broad variety of materials in high-resolution at sub-nanoscales.
