Since then many of the tide pools have changed both in the number and types of sea life found in the tide pools. I have started to see a few sea star clusters lately (Jan 2018) with some locations having 30-50 animals in select tidepools. They have not recovered to their previous numbers but it is encouraging to see an increase. Scientists have called this event the sea star wasting syndrome and is not the first occurrence of this type of event. There are several organizations conducting research on these events.
