Both will sign their certificate of intent, indicating their commitment to each other. We applaud the efforts of our local businesses that recognize the importance of developing their own qualified workforce , says Lisa Robbins, Regional Workforce Advisor for the SC Department of Commerce. The exponential growth in our region has certainly put a strain on our companies to locate the workforce they need. Partnerships between businesses and schools can help fill that gap. Event Speakers Include:Ron Roveri, Director Applied Technology Center Rock Hill School DistrictDr. Greg Rutherford, President York Technical CollegeTommy Preston, Government Relations for Boeing SCNathaniel Best, student Applied Technology CenterOur goal with this event is to not only recognize those students and companies who have made a commitment to each other, but to also foster excitement; thereby, encouraging others to become involved. Developing a skilled workforce for South Carolina will lead to increased economic development and an improved economy. Internships provide students with the opportunity to learn about particular industries they are interested in and hopefully lead to a lasting relationship with that company.Additionally, Boeing SC executives will present to area high school students on April 30 and May 1. We work together to link students with educational opportunities and training.
