Welcome to The Texas Pilgrim

The Texas Pilgrim was founded in April 2000 as a personal letter of commentary on public policy, current events, philosophy, books, and American culture, based on the premise that ideas have consequences and with an objective to engage readers in a dialogue on the critical issues of our time and the ideas that drive them. It has since been published monthly, eleven issues annually, excluding December.

Now, after almost 22 years, approaching 1,100 essays, and over 230 monthly editions and a book, effective in January 2022, The Texas Pilgrim will begin a new phase–more like a blog, without a self imposed monthly publication deadline, but with more spontaneous posts as events dictate, and still committed to a dialogue on the ideas that drive American culture and politics.

And, as always, feedback and commentary are welcomed and encouraged.
